Another Kate Middleton Wedding Dress Designer Rumor
Sarah Burton, the creative director behind the Alexander McQueen fashion house, is reportedly the woman who will design the wedding dress for Kate Middleton.
Burton landed the job of director at McQueen in October, following his suicide in early 2010 and has been quietly making a name for herself since. Burton had been McQueen’s trusted and invaluable assistant for years after she came to his attention as an intern back in 1996.
Burton is denying the appointment with a spokesperson saying:
“Sarah is busy working on her new collection for the Tuesday show and she was as surprised as the rest of us to hear about this. She is not designing the dress.”
Along with Bruce Oldfield and Daniella Issa Heylayel, Burton’s name is mentioned most often as the one who is getting the nod for the coveted design.
The April 29th nuptials of Kate Middleton and Prince William are fast approaching and Middleton’s choice will make headlines around the world but the future Princess has said repeatedly she wants to keep both the design and creator a secret until the big moment.
If she has chosen Burton, this would be my personal favorite (although I’m not the one walking down the aisle.) Burton had an almost impossible task to take on her mentor’s famous label after his death but she has managed to honor his style and infuse her own take into the couture designs.
