The aging but still extremely good looking Denzel Washington has been selected to speak at the University of Pennsylvania’s 255th Commencement ceremony this May.

President Amy Gutmann explains why she was the University’s choice to send off this year’s graduating seniors:

“Denzel Washington has used his tremendous talent as an actor to bring the most significant social and historical issues into the limelight — from portraying a South African freedom fighter, a dedicated educator of young minds, and a homophobic lawyer rising to the defense of a gay man to portraying of one America’s most passionate civil rights activists.   He is also recognized for his inspiring work in public service, most particularly with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, an organization to which he belonged in his youth and now helps guide by serving as a board member, donor and longtime spokesperson.”

Indeed.

Denzel will receive an honorary Doctor of Arts Degree at the ceremony, which he can add to his growing collection:  he already holds honorary degrees from Morehouse College and Fordham University (where he actually did earn his B.A. in 1977).  He can add this honor to his pile of awards and accolades, including his most recent:  an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor In A Motion Picture for his role in The Book Of Eli.

Reese Witherspoon and Avon are launching three new fragrances for spring 2011.

The Expressions collection debut in April with Laugh Often – a scent that pairs mandarin and freesia. The second, Live Without Regrets, is due in May and mixes floral and fruity based top notes. Love To The Fullest comes last in August and layers amber, cherry and peony for an oriental flair.

Witherspoon says this perfume collection touches on what she finds inspiring in life.

“The fragrances capture my own personal philosophy on life. Their names — Laugh Often, Live Without Regrets and Love To The Fullest — these are all words I live by,” said Witherspoon.

The fragrances are meant for women to be able to express their moods and Witherspoon says she uses the perfumes to do just that.

“Wearing fragrance is one way I express my personality,” she said in a statement. “No matter what my mood, ‘Expressions’ lets me convey my joy, confidence or sensuality — whatever I feel that day.”

The 35 year-old actress is Avon’s Global Brand Ambassador.

Pam Dawber and NCIS star Cote de Pablo spent an afternoon together for a good cause.

The Guild of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles presented it’s annual Accessories For Success Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show featuring Lloyd Klein’s couture and ready-to-wear designs held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Friday, March 25th.

De Pablo and Dawber, who is married to NCIS star Mark Harmon, enjoyed the fashion presentation as well as the boutique of select accessories vendors donating a portion of the proceeds to The Guild.

I wish Pam would come back to television. I always loved her!

Kate Winslet sat down with her kids to watch a gag reel from the production of Mildred Pierce made just for her and she had to turn it off right away!

When she first saw it, she said “I thought Well, I can show the children this!”

The 35 year-old actress sat down with the ladies of The View to talk about her “potty mouth” and how the fun little surprise made just for her, really does need to stay for her eyes only for a while.

When she first received the video, she said “I thought I can show the children this!” Winslet said she loves “the behind-the-scenes stuff” and they are great memories for her of her time filming.

“It’s all those silly bits, when mistakes happen, behind-the-scenes …put it on …three seconds later off!” Winslet said as she realized quickly what it was all about.

She says her kids, Joe, 7, and Mia, 10, aren’t ready for “hearing mummy say things they’ve never heard mummy say before.”

The British actress also talks about ‘the obsessive love’ that her character Mildred, has for her daughter, Vida, played by Evan Rachel Wood and how Vida just turns on her.

Bret Michaels has filed a lawsuit against CBS and the Tony Awards after he suffered injuries as a performer in 2009.

The musician was flattened as a heavy stage set was dropping rapidly while he was attempting to exit after finishing his musical number for the telecast.

At the time Michaels suffered an obvious broken nose and cut lip however the suit contends the sub arachnoid brain hemorrhage that landed him in the hopsital six months later was actually a brain injury resulting from the damage.

“One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards,” TMZ quotes from the suit.

The Poison frontman says that he asked producers which way he needed to go upon exiting the stage after singing “Nothin’ But A Good Time” but the directions he was given at the time were vague and are what led to the hazard.

“Quite the opposite, Michaels specifically asked for instructions regarding how to exit after his performance and was just told to walk off the rear of the stage — in what was ultimately the danger zone,” the legal papers say.

The 48 year-old singer says to add insult to injury, CBS and the Tony producers claim he missed his mark and offered no apology.

Michaels is asking for an unspecified amount in damages.

The new face of Material Girl clothing attended an official launch at Macy’s on Thursday.

Kelly Osbourne, who was chosen as the new face of the juniors apparel line replacing Taylor Momsen, celebrated the new designs at Macy’s in the Beverly Center of Los Angeles, California.

The 26 year-old wore a floral skirt with polka dot top and faded jean jacket to the fashion show and special pink themed party.

The fashion show was hosted by Project Runway competitor and designer Nick Verreos, who MC’d for the event and with Osbourne, answered fashion and style questions from the audience.

Reese Witherspoon is expected to wed talent agent, Jim Toth today.

The ceremony is set to take place at her ranch in Ojai Valley with her children Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7, present as well as family and friends. Tents have been erected and flowers are being delivered for the Saturday ceremony.

The 35 year-old (who celebrated her birthday earlier this week,) is thought to have chosen a one-of-a-kind Monique Lhuillier gown for the ceremony of approximately 100 guests.

The Academy Award winner has been pretty laid back all week long as she’s been photographed shopping and having lunch with family and friends as she’s reportedly hired wedding planner and consultant Yifat Oren to handle the details.

Toth and Witherspoon met last January and were engaged over the holidays.

No word on which magazine has exclusive photos – but People magazine is most likely.

Ed Westwick made a couple of fans very happy at a meet and greet for the 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australia Grand Prix at Albert Park in Melbourne on Friday, March 25th.

The Chalet Girl star got a kiss from two lucky girls as he posed for pictures before heading off to the race.

Westwick, 23, was said to not be so sociable the night before at the GP 28 party.

The actor was with his nephew, Tom Selwood, when approached by local media to talk about his time down under. According to the Herald Sun, the Gossip Girl star copped a Chuck Bass attitude and left reporters on a sour note.

“Westwick sneered at media and quickly ushered his young and amiable Aussie relative away. “We’re going to have a good weekend,” Westwick snarled as he sauntered off,” the report said.

Well, everyone can have a bad day and he seems to have made an appropriate attitude adjustment, but then, being kissed by a couple of attractive young ladies could have helped his process.
