Next summer’s major Marvel release The Avengers begins shooting today!

Yesterday director Joss Whedon wrote:

“Tomorrow we start shooting (I THINK I’m legally permitted to say that). Day one. That’s right. We’ll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene, at the following address:”

And for a reminder of the movie’s incredible cast:

The Avengers features Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man; Chris Hemsworth as Thor; Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk;Chris Evans as Captain America; Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury; Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow; Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye; Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill; Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson; Tom Hiddleston as Loki; and Stellan Skarsgård as Erik Selvig.

This movie is going to be huge, combining the stars of all the films leading up to it in one film is no small feat. I’m really hoping the script doesn’t end up feeling too fragmented with so many characters. Only time will tell, but in any case, this movie is going to be huge. The Avengers is set for release in theaters on May 4th, 2012.

Sooo darn cute!

Jessica Alba and her absolutely adorable 2 year-old, Honor Marie, were doing a little grocery shopping late last week at Whole Foods in Los Angeles when the photogs caught mom and daughter giving each other a kiss in the store.

The two also spent some time together at Gymboree, picking up some toys.

Alba announced her second pregnancy in February.

With just a few days remaining before Prince William and Kate Middleton’s modern day fairytale wedding, word is out that Prince Harry is planning a morning-after after-party. Who better, right?

Harry, with close friend and nightclub owner, Guy Pelly, have organized a survivor’s breakfast of bacon and fry-ups at 6 AM Saturday morning at Buckingham Palace.

With no beer being served, Pelly and the 26 year-old Prince are said to have arranged treasure chest drinks (made popular at Pelly’s club Mahiki) which are potent (and huge) cocktails of rum and champagne served in wooden, table-sized chests for the guests to imbibe on.

Guess they will need a hangover meal the next day!

The real question is will Chelsy Davy be his plus one? 4 more days until we know for sure…

Law & Order: Criminal Intent returns this Sunday, May 1st with it’s tenth and final season and with original (and best) stars Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe.

Detectives Goren (D’Onofrio) and Eames (Erbe) will get a chance to take on the ripped-from-the-headlines stories again and one of those tales will be the troubled Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, including creative license caricatures of director Julie Taymor and Bono, the man behind the ill-fated play.

The TV episode will feature the Great White Way fictional production, Icarus, with botched stunts, a “high strung” director and a bisexual rock star who all figure into the murder mystery of the hour according to TVLine.

What else is up for this seasons eight shows?

A new captain is on deck for starters. Jay O. Sanders takes over the Major Case Squad as the new captain and is responsible for bringing Goren and Eames back to the NYPD. And the debut episode gets a Charlie Sheen-esque character in full meltdown mode, played by Jay Mohr.

The family got a special private tour of the White House on Sunday, April 24th but come Monday, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos will read to lots of children.

Kelly and Mark, who posed with their children for the photo after the tour, are two of the many celebrities who will participate in the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll.

The pair will take the Storytime Stage, along with Kristi Yamuguchi, John Lithgow, and Sesame Street faves Elmo, Maria and Gordon during the day to read to kids as they come for many activities the White House has planned.

The theme this year is “Get Up and Go!” which coincides with First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” initiative. Events for the day include basketball and tennis games, a Yoga garden, a “Play With Your Food” farmer’s market, “Eggspress Yourself” arts and crafts workshop, gardening lessons and “Buzzing About Bees” booth.

Getting in touch with her inner child, Sharon Stone grabbed her sons and headed to the park for some sunshine and high flying swinging.

The star had a carefree afternoon with her boys Laird, 5, and 4 year-old Quinn, as they took the slides and swing sets together with Stone, taking part in the Coldwater Park fun.

While she appeared happy and light-hearted, the 53 year-old actress had a scary break-in occur in February at her home in Los Angeles.

A man who believes he is Hilary Clinton’s son was found in her home believing it was purchased for him by Clinton. Stone was able to obtain a restraining order for 3 years against the individual.

With her enigmatic smile and casual style, Julia Roberts turned up at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City with her sister, Lisa Gillian Roberts, to show the film they executive produced: Jesus Henry Christ.

Along with her sister, Julia’s husband Danny Moder, was the cinematographer.

“It was so great to be working on the same movie with him. He’s so good at what he does. He’s so clear and focused,” Roberts told People magazine.

It’s actually hard to get his attention on the set because he’s really like, ‘No, I’m working.’ But at lunch I will be like, ‘Hi, remember me, your wife?’ ” she said.

But if she decides that acting and producing aren’t enough, her kids have another idea for mom: restauranteur.

Roberts, 43, shared that her children; twins Hazel and Phinneaus, 6, and Henry, 3, think she’s got another career in her future.

“They think that I’m a good cook,” the Eat, Pray, Love actress said. “They actually told me that I should open a restaurant.”

Emma Watson will not be returning to Brown University for further academic studies.

The 21 year-old announced in March she was temporarily postponing her collegiate responsibilities while she tackled some professional obligations including Harry Potter promotional duties, however she has now decided that she will attend another university in the fall.

Online reports cited bullying as a reason for Watson’s departure however a rep for the actress says that’s not true.

Vanessa Davies, spokesperson for Watson, told the AP that she is pursuing courses not offered at Brown and that Emma “has absolutely loved her time at Brown” and made many good friends there.

Davies did not offer which college Watson will attend.

Watson has a burgenoning fashion career as well as movie roles including the soon-to-start filming The Perks of Being a Wallflower with Logan Lerman and Nina Dobrev.

Eva Mendes is the sexy face of European department store Peek & Cloppenburg for Spring/Summer 2011.   In a campaign called ‘Summer Styles With Eva Mendes,’ the actress takes a trip “around the world in a day,” with “stops” in Las Vegas, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, and Coney Island.

Photographer Norman Jean Roy captured Eva looking fantastic, and super happy, in a variety of awesome outfits.  If I ever find myself in Eastern Europe, I know where I’m shopping.
