Emile Hirsch Joins Oliver Stone’s ‘Savages’

Emile Hirsch is joining the cast of Oliver Stone‘s new film Savages.

Hirsch joins a cast that already stars Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson and Benicio del Toro. And as Variety first reported, Blake Lively is at the top of Stone’s list for the female lead.

Stone will helm and is currently revising the script by Don Winslow and Shane Salerno.

Based on Winslow’s novel, story revolves around two Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins forced to work for the Mexican cartel after the girlfriend they casually share is kidnapped.

I haven’t seen Hirche since Into the Wild and Milk, I think Speed Racer hurt his career. Thankfully he’s being tapped for new projects like this one. He’s a really good actor but does he seem like an alternate version of Leonardo DiCaprio to anyone else? Seems like he wouldn’t have a career at all if DiCaprio didn’t come first.

‘Terminator 5′ to Star Vin Diesel?

Rumors and speculation have been swirling for months on the possible Terminator 5, now the movie’s likely director (Justin Lin) has mentioned Vin Diesel as the possible lead.

Justin Lin, the film’s director, was recently reported to be up for directing duties on a new “Terminator” film for Universal, and almost immediately rumours began to swirl – particularly at the junket – that Vin Diesel might be in line for a role in the film. Fair assumption, after all, Vin and Justin are not only good friends but they’ve now worked together several times (if you include Vin’s cameo in “Tokyo Drift”) and are already planning to work together again.

While Lin is open to the idea of his “Fast” lead taking on Skynet, the only person he has approached so far about “Terminator 5” is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Still, it’s not out of the question.

“Vin’s been a really great partner on this franchise”, Lin says of the duo’s involvement in the “Fast” series. “We’ve talked about the mythology [of the Terminator series]…[pause] he’s a great guy and a great actor. I really like working with him so anything I do I usually talk to him about. Sometimes we even talk about going back and doing a little indy movie.”

Vin seems like an obvious choice for playing a Terminator, I’m sure if he’s offered the role he’ll snatch it up quick! It seems like at this point in Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s career, he would also be likely to return for another movie. This is one of those moments where we’ll just have to wait and see, I’m sure official announcements with start flowing in the coming months. Now remember, Skynet went live on April 19th, 2011, at 8:11 PM, judgement day didn’t happen as scheduled, but you better watch out for robots from the future!

First Look: Meryl Streep with Jim Broadbent in ‘Iron Lady’ (Image)

Here’s the first official image from the upcoming film The Iron Lady starring Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher.

Here’s a shot of the real people for comparison:

Meryl Streep and Jim Broadbent show their true — blue — colours as they portray former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her husband Denis.

My exclusive shot is from Phyllida Lloyd’s film The Iron Lady and it’s a recreation of the 1980 Conservative Party conference at Brighton, when the Fighting Lady (as Time magazine dubbed her that year) put the country on alert over battles with unions regarding pay and jobs.

Pretty amazing makeup! I’m looking forward to seeing Meryl Streep in this role, we all know she’ll be amazing. She fully commits to her roles, I’m sure she’ll make the portrayal completely solid! Expect this one in theaters next year.

WATCH: Rachel Bilson & Karl Lagerfeld’s Delicious Ice Cream Ad

Rachel Bilson and Karl Lagerfeld were at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival to debut their collaboration on a series of three short films (they are commercials, regardless of what Lagerfeld wants to call them,) inspired by Magnum Ice Cream.

Created to raise awareness of the brand of sweet treat as it launches in the U.S., Bilson and Lagerfeld posed together on the red carpet looking fabulous.

The actress wore a strapless ivory and blush pink Chanel Haute Couture dress with embellished bodice to the event.

American Vogue editor Anna Wintour also came to give her seal of approval to the very fashionable affair.

More photos from the event are below and the commercial that Lagerfeld shot of Bilson and the ice cream. (Read the article)

How Many Degrees Does James Franco Need?

I remember at the end of my senior year of college, all of us who had student loans had to attend a mandatory counseling session to ensure that we understood that we did, in fact, have to pay them back.  They tried to scare us by laying out the dire consequences of not paying back our loans, but also explained all the ways that we could temporarily delay paying them off  – going to graduate school being one of them.   I distinctly remember asking, “Is there a limit to the number of consecutive years you can take advantage of the “enrolled in school” deferment?  Theoretically, if you just kept going to one graduate program after another, you could keep deferring your loans forever, right?”

I may or may not have been drinking right before I went to that meeting, but I couldn’t have been too messed up, because  when I heard that James Franco has enrolled in another doctoral program, all I could think was, “Huh.  Maybe I’m not the only one who considered perpetual academia as a way to avoid paying student loans.”  (I also am pretty sure James can use his ample earnings to pay off any student loans he might have taken, so I am sure he doesn’t have the same motivation.)

Wait, another doctoral program?  Yes.  He’s already supposedly attending an English program at Yale.  Now he’s pursuing a PhD in literature and creative writing at the University of Houston.    I have no idea why he thinks he needs two doctorates, or why he’d want to work on them at the same time, but you gotta love the guy for being THAT freaking smart.

LeAnn Rimes & Eddie Cibrian Are Married

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian tied the knot at a private residence in Malibu, California on Friday.

Cibirian’s children, Mason, 7, and 4 year-old Jake were in attendance with about 40 other guests of the couple.

The two were engaged in December of 2010 after meeting on the set of the Lifetime movie, Northern Lights in 2009.

At the time of filming, both Cibrian, 37, and Rimes, 28, were married to others (Cibrian to Brandi Glanville and Rimes to Dean Sheremet) and were photographed together.

The country singer and the CSI: Miami star divorced their respective spouses in 2010.

Rimes, who will be the subject of the GAC special Backstory: LeAnn Rimes tells the show she was simply ill-equipped to deal with her unhappy marriage correctly.

“I know I didn’t do it the right way,” Rimes admits. “I didn’t have the tools to know how to do it the right way, how to let go the right way. I’d never been taught that… I have the strength [now] but I didn’t at the time… So, it got really messy, but I have learned a lot from that. And I’m not glad it happened, but I know why it did.”

The special will air this Sunday on the Great American Country channel.
