The cast of Hot In Cleveland came out to support an animal rights fundraiser.

Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves were joined by Jennifer Love Hewitt at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on April 9th for the event.

White, a longtime animal rights activist, had a very special auction prize up for guests. A VIP set visit to her show brought in $8,000 and she autographed a copy of her Saturday Night Live script which garnered another $4,500 for the carity.

If you don’t love Betty White, well, I don’t know what to say to you.

Here’s the final version poster for the upcoming summer blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

This poster looks just like the other ones, not exactly pulling any surprises here. I wonder how many movie posters in film history follow this exact formula? Hopefully this movie isn’t too formulaic, I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Actor Josh Pence has landed the role of the young Ra’s Al Ghul in the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises.

Josh Pence, who played opposite Armie Hammer as Tyler Winklevoss in The Social Network (where Hammer’s face was superimposed on his), has been cast as a young Ra’s Al Ghul in Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan‘s new Batman movie.

I’d never heard of Josh Pence until today, he’s obviously on his way up. I think the bigger news here is that Christopher Nolan is including flashbacks in The Dark Knight rises. Nolan is pretty much the king of flashbacks in movies, have you seen Memento? Every development about the story in The Dark Knight Rises gets a lot of attention as it continues to be kept such a big secret. The hugely anticipated film shoots this summer!

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming movie Anonymous from director Roland Emmerich.

This isn’t exactly Roland Emmerich‘s normal apocalyptic tale, which brings up my interest to a certain degree. Unfortunately this is still a Roland Emmerich movie, which (to me) means it will be bad. The whole “Shakespeare didn’t write his plays” conspiracy theory is interesting, but this story would probably have been better suited for a more effective director.

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming film Melancholia from director Lars von Trier.

This trailer is beautiful and dark. The style and flow grabbed my attention, hopefully the movie will be the same way. It’s interesting to see main stream actors in a film that falls into the artistic realm instead of the money-maker realm. I’m looking forward to hearing more about this bizarre little film.

Rumors have been bubbling for months about Johnny Depp making a cameo in 21 Jump Street. The probability seems to be getting higher!

…Now it’s actor/writer Dave Franco who is building some career steam. He’s just been set to play a villain in 21 Jump Street, a film that is getting close to production at Sony Pictures. In fact, it’s so close that the inevitable rumors have started on whether Johnny Depp will show up for a cameo. After all, the TV series launched his career. I hear plans are being made for him to set aside a day to shoot one, but I’m not sure what his role will be.

I think it really comes down to weather or not the script is good, Johnny Depp tends to make good choices for roles. I don’t think Depp has any kind of debt to the production of the movie just because his career started with the show in 1987. I know most of his fans would probably want to see him at least make an appearance. What do you think?

Javier Bardem is in final talks to take on the huge role of Roland in the upcoming Dark Tower books based on the Steven King book series.

Deadline is now reporting that Javier Bardem is in final discussions to play gunslinger Roland Deschain in The Dark Tower. According to the report, the deal is so close to done that “Howard has begun meeting with other actors to cast the roles around Bardem.”

Bardem isn’t my first choice (c’mon Viggo Mortensen) to play Roland Deschain, but if he does officially land it, I won’t be too upset. In fact I’ll be glad that they secure somebody period, these movies have been a long time coming. The Dark Tower series is one of the best fantasy book series of all time, it’s about time they become films. I’ll keep you posted as the news unfolds.
