Sarah Burton Statement On Designing Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress

The speculation about the designer of Kate Middleton‘s wedding dress is over at last!  The new Duchess of Cambridge was married in a gorgeous dress by Alexander McQueen.  Sarah Burton, the fashion house’s creative director, has issued the following statement:

“It has been the experience of a lifetime to work with Catherine Middleton to create her wedding dress, and I have enjoyed every moment of it. It was such an incredible honour to be asked, and I am so proud of what we and the Alexander McQueen team have created. I am delighted that the dress represents the best of British craftsmanship. Alexander McQueen’s designs are all about bringing contrasts together to create startling and beautiful clothes and I hope that by marrying traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design we have created a beautiful dress for Catherine on her wedding day.

“The last few months have been very exciting and an incredible experience for my team and I as we have worked closely with Catherine to create this dress under conditions of the strictest secrecy. Understandably, Catherine has been very keen to keep the details of her dress a secret, which is every bride’s prerogative, and we gave an undertaking to keep our role confidential until the day of the wedding.

“Catherine looked absolutely stunning today, and the team at Alexander McQueen are very proud of what we have created. The dress was just one component of a spectacular day, and I do not think it is appropriate to comment any further beyond saying that I personally am very grateful and honoured to have been given the opportunity to work on this project, and I wish TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge every good wish for the future.”

Burton and her team did an amazing job on the Grace Kelly-inspired gown.  Brava!

FIRST LOOK PHOTOs: Catherine (Kate) Middleton’s Wedding Dress – McQueen & Burton

Radiant Catherine Middleton arrived to Westminster Abbey in a lovely dress by Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton.

The dress was modern yet still traditional with her arms covered in lace, a simple but stunning bodice and full skirt with a train about 12 foot long. Catherine left her hair down and a very simple veil.

Her bouquet appeared to be all lily-of-the-valleys.

Her groom, Prince William, whispered to her “You look beautiful” as he saw her for the first time today when she stood next to him at the altar.

Keep checking back as we update with more information and photos as available.

January Jones Is Pregnant

Mad Men star January Jones has announced she’s having a baby.

The 33 year-old, who is single, will be a first-time mom in autumn of this year.

A rep for the actress told People magazine “January Jones is happy to announce that she is expecting her first child this fall.”

It is not known who the father of the child is at this time and the actress has famously said she likes being solo.

“I don’t like living with other people. I don’t mind being alone,” she said.

“I just don’t really have a lot of time or energy to put into a relationship when nothing’s going to happen.”

She can be seen in this summer’s X-Men: First Class.

The contract dispute with Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner and AMC was finally resolved late last month but it won’t be back on air until 2012, giving Jones time after the baby is born.

Full ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ Trailer is Pretty

Here’s the full trailer for the upcoming third film in the franchise Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

This movie looks like it’s going to be much, much bigger than the first two. The visuals are finally starting to look like they should in the year 2011, it seems like they finally figured something out to take it to that next level. Michael Bay may not be the best at creating compelling drama, but he sure knows how to make stuff look pretty!
