‘American Idol’ Top 6 Shocker – Who Goes Home Tonight

American Idol fans were in for a shocker as host Ryan Seacrest told the audience on tonight’s elimination show.

The Top 6 were whittled down to a Top 5 after last night’s performances from the Carole King catalog.

The remaining contestants opened the show with a medley of King’s songs and then the excruciating wait for who lives to sing another day on the A.I. stage began.

Haley Reinhart, Casey Abrams, Scotty McCreery, Jacob Lusk, James Durbin and Lauren Alania all look uncomfortable as Seacrest changes it up a bit and said there are no bottom three and the ones told they were safe were random.

So who got the boot?

Highlight the text to find out: Casey Abrams is out and does not make into the Top 5 next week!

‘Enders Game’ Movie Finally Materializing

Ender’s Game the hugely popular book from 1977 is finally getting turned into a movie franchise.

Summit Entertainment is acquiring U.S. rights to a live action adaptation of the Orson Scott Card science fiction novel Ender’s Game, with Gavin Hood set to direct his script.  Summit, which is winding down its Twilight Saga series, is co-financing Ender’s Game and eyeing it as an opportunity to hatch another youth-driven series, with protagonists that are slightly younger than the kids in the upcoming The Hunger Games trilogy…

…The storyline begins on Earth after an alien attack, when gifted children are recruited by a government desperate to fight back. The kids are taught a competitive game that’s a cross between the Quidditch matches of Harry Potter and the Jedi light saber battles from Star Wars. Only the best and brightest will be chosen. A young boy emerges as a genius strategist, and the planet’s best hope to destroy the alien Formic race.

This is a book that has been talked about being made into a movie for my whole life, I’m actually surprised it took this long. This is right up Summit Entertainment‘s alley, fantastical youth driven stories are their bread and butter. I really hope they approach this with the long time fans in mind and really make it great. I’ll keep you posted as this story develops in coming months.

Jeremy Renner Working on Steve McQueen Biopic

Jeremy Renner is preparing to star as Steve McQueen in a biopic about the legendary actor.

The two-time Oscar nominee, who has been on an upward trajectory since starring in best picture winner The Hurt Locker, has formed The Combine, a production company he will run with partner Don Handfield. And the company is hitting the ground running, developing a Steve McQueen biopic that will serve as a starring vehicle for the actor.

James Gray, who wrote and directed We Own the Night, is attached to write the McQueen screenplay, which will be based on the two books by Marshall TerrillPortrait of an American Rebel and The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon. Video director Ivan Zacharias is attached to make his directorial debut on the project.

It’s kind of funny that there are now biopics about actors, starring other actors as the originals. Renner is getting bigger and bigger, doing a project like this is a really smart move for him. He’s permanently aligning himself with one of the most famous actors in history, this should be interesting.

On the heels of Elizabeth Banks officially signing on for Lionsgate’s Hunger Games movie, two actors have landed roles as tributes.

With all they hype surrounding this inevitable trilogy of films I’ve finally gotten a copy of the book. I haven’t started it yet, but from what I understand I’m not going to want to put it down once I start. I’m trying to plan accordingly! This movie is going to kick start so many young actor careers, and the list is still growing!

Justin Bieber and Mark Wahlberg Doing a Basketball Movie Together

Justin Bieber and Mark Wahlberg are collaborating to make a basketball movie together! Here’s what Wahlberg said about it in an interview with Vulture:

And is there somebody, sort of unexpected, that you want to work with?
Yeah, Justin Bieber and I are going to do a movie together …

Is that actually true?
Well, we’re putting it together. Yeah. We’re doing it at Paramount. We pitched them the idea and, you know, we’re talking about doing it. He loves the idea. He’s been sending me video, he sent me a video of himself, and, yeah, I think he’s really talented.

Can you tell me more?
No, we’re going to do something interesting.

Like a drama or a comedy?
More of a drama. It’s interesting, right? You want to know. They’ll probably announce it. They may announce it fairly soon … kind of like a reluctant mentor in an inner-city environment. You know, I don’t want to say.

Definitely not the kind of news I expected to hear, but I’m not entirely surprised. Justin Bieber‘s empire will probably keep growing for quite some time. Collaborating with the extremely busy Wahlberg is a smart move, I just wonder how long it will be before they actually get this thing off the ground. Fact is, there is a guaranteed audience, so it’s only a matter of time.

Jacob is All Wet in Fresh New ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ Images

Here are some fresh new shots from the upcoming two part finale The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

It still kind of amazes me how much fans of this series get excited over even simple imagery like this. I guess these movies don’t ever go too far beyond simple anyway, is that why people love Twilight so much? When I was younger I would complain that there weren’t enough vampire stories in movies, boy has my tune changed.

First ‘Melancholia’ Poster is Unconventional

Here’s the first poster for the upcoming film Melancholia starring Kirsten Dunst.

Odd poster, it looks more like a wedding invitation, or an art gallery opening advertisement. I’m glad they decided to go with something different for this one, even as simple as it is. This movie looks like it’s going to be way out of the ordinary too, so the poster suits it well.

Another New ‘Green Lantern’ Poster Sticks to the Same Look

Here’s yet another poster for the upcoming comic book movie Green Lantern.

Ok, I think they are starting to go a little overboard on these posters, this makes thirteen different posters and banners for the movie! It would be one thing if there was some variance in styles and composition, but they all pretty much look the same. Hopefully as the movie draws closes to release on june 17th they will change things up a bit.

First ‘Immortals’ Trailer With New ‘Superman’ Henry Cavill

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming movie Immortals starring Henry Cavill.

I’m not so sure about this one, it’s like Clash of the Titans meets Sparticus: Blood and Sand meets 300. Maybe all of that is a recipe for a good movie, but some of the costumes seem a little corny to me. That’s not to say I’m not interested, just saying I have my doubts about the final product. Immortals will be in theaters on November 11th, 2011.
