Johnny Depp is a Vampire in Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’, Details Revealed

Johnny Depp will play a vampire in the upcoming Tim Burton movie Dark Shadows. Check out all the fresh new details:

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Brouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

I never watched the original show, in fact, I never even knew it existed until now. I’m sure this movie is going to be a lot of fun, especially with the whole Burton gang together with the new cast in tow. Seeing Johnny Depp as a vampire will be fun, I’m sure there will be a little bit of Jack Sparrow in there someplace. Expect this movie in theaters on May 11th, 2012.

Armie Hammer is Officially ‘The Lone Ranger’

Armie Hammer has officially landed the role of The Lone Ranger starring opposite Johnny Depp in the upcoming Disney feature.

Johnny Depp has found his Lone Ranger. Armie Hammer, the 24-year-old actor who portrayed the Winklevoss twins in last year’sThe Social Network, will play the masked hero in Disney’s adaptation of The Lone Ranger, according to Hammer’s rep. Depp, who has said that he’s part Cherokee or Creek Indian, had already been cast as the title character’s Native American companion Tonto. Gore Verbinski, who directed Depp in Rango and the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, will helm the film. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the project, which Disney could release as early as next year.

No doubt he fits the look quite well, he’s got that all-American look that Disney loves to portray. Johnny Depp was recently talking about how he wants the relationship dynamics between the duo to change from the old show. Depp wants Tonto to be more of the shot caller than The Lone Ranger, I couldn’t agree more. This should be interesting.

Director Todd Phillips Already Talking ‘Hangover Part III’

Even though The Hangover Part II has yet to be released, director Todd Phillips is already talking about another sequel. Here’s what he had to say:

“If we were to do a third one, and quite honestly we really haven’t talked about it as we just finished the movie two weeks ago, this is the first time we’ve all been together in awhile. If we were to do a third one, if the audience…if the desire was there…I think we have a clear idea where that would head and it’s certainly not in the same template you’ve seen these movies and obviously we always envisioned it as a trilogy as you can imagine (lot’s of laughter), the third would very much a finale and an ending. The most I could say about it and I haven’t discussed it with these actors is that it is not following that template but very much a new idea.  As far as where it takes place…I’m very open like the Olympic committee to being pitched and presented cities…flown around with wine and women and bribed and then I will make my decision.”

It’s obviously not locked down, but he’s definitely thinking ahead. The fact is, another sequel is almost a guarantee. We all know The Hangover Part II will be a huge hit. I’ll be excited about the possibility of another sequel if Part II is as good as the first movie. The whole concept of a comedy trilogy seems odd, it’s not like it’s an epic story. I guess a trilogy of laughs should count too.

First Look: Jennifer Lawrence in ‘Hunger Games’ (Image)

Here’s the first official image of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming movie Hunger Games from the cover of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly.

This is just about how I imagined her looking, she fits perfectly. This movie is going to be huge when it comes out next year, slowly word is spreading about the quality of this story. It’s cool to see the real life version of this character, and the Mockingjay pin that she wears (featured in the logo for the book). I’m sure there are many more images to come soon, I’ll keep you posted as they are released.

Full ‘Zookeeper’ Trailer is Painful

Here’s the full trailer for the upcoming Kevin James comedy Zookeeper.

This movie looks terrible to me, I’d rather organize my dusty DVD collection than watch this. There’s a big difference between making a comedy that appeals to a wide audience, and making a cheesy cheap comedy that only appeals to kids because of talking animals and slapstick falls. I’m sorry, but there is nothing about this that seems worth watching.

Taylor Kitsch to Star as Navy Seal in ‘Lone Survivor’, Peter Berg Directing

Taylor Kitsch is likely starring in the upcoming movie Lone Survivor, re-teaming with director Peter Berg.

Fresh from steering Battleship, Peter Berg and Universal Pictures are moving right into a January start date on Lone Survivor, an adaptation of the book by Marcus Luttrell. The film tells the harrowing story of how he and his Navy SEAL team members fought to stay alive after being ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005 by Taliban forces during a covert mission in the Hindu Kush mountain region, where the team went to kill a terrorist leader. Berg has asked his Battleship star Taylor Kitsch to play one of four SEAL team members who fight for their lives. After meeting actors for the past two weeks, Berg will set the rest of the quartet soon.

I’m still reeling from the fact that there is actually a movie coming called Battleship, based on the game. I’m having a hard time visualizing how that movie may be. If Lone Survivor is any indication, both will simply be war dramas. Neither sound all that appealing to me.

Topher Grace Going ‘Gently Down the Stream’

Topher Grace is joining Amanda Seyfried, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl and Robert De Niro in the upcoming movie Gently Down the Stream.

Grace will play Jared, the son of the characters played by De Niro and Keaton. He’s a doctor who ends up falling in love with a young Latin woman, awkward since she’s his adopted brother’s sister. The pic begins shooting in July in Connecticut.

This is certainly not a story that we’ve seen before, I’m guessing the script is good. This many stars jumping onboard has to mean something for the quality of the story. I just don’t think that short description could possibly be enough to give us a proper description of this movie. Time will tell, I’ll keep you posted.

Mel Gibson May Take ‘Sleight of Hand’

Mel Gibson may take a new role in the upcoming film Sleight of Hand.

Mel Gibson is in talks to join the cast of helmer Brad Mirman’s heist comedy “Sleight of Hand,” opposite Kiefer Sutherland, Gerard Depardieu and Thomas Jane.

Gibson has been surrounded with bad press for quite a while now, his new movie The Beaver is being well received abroad but not in the USA. People don’t seem to want to forgive him this time, but maybe if he just keeps working the public will come back around. Taking the role in Sleight of Hand would probably help him in the long run, he’s good at comedy, it’s been a while since he’s gone there. Maybe it’ll help people remember he’s not always acting like a monster.

Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, and Gillian Anderson to Face ‘Buxom’ Zombies

Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, and Gillian Anderson are all set to star in the upcoming period zombie movie The Curse Of The Buxom Strumpet.

Butler will direct and has co-written the script with Tori Hart for the feature in which the inhabitants of a small seaside town are struck down with a deadly illness.

The feature is an extension of Butler’s short comedy film E’gad Zombies, also starring McKellen.

Not your average movie title, or time setting (set in the 1700s), thats a first for a zombie flick! We already know Gillian Anderson is good when she’s running from monsters from all those years on The X-Files. We also know Ian McKellen is great with facing monsters from seeing him battle them in Lord of the Rings. Hopefully Judy Dench gets to do some zombie killing in this movie! It sounds like it could be a lot of fun!

‘Meloncholia’ Director Calls Himself a Nazi at Cannes, Kirsten Dunst Mortified

Lars von Trier, director of the upcoming film Melancholia called himself a Nazi today causing outrage from the Anti-Defamation League and the Cannes Film Festival. Kirsten Dunst the film’s star was sitting next to him during his off color statements, much to her dismay.

Actress Kirsten Dunst, who is the star of his film, became visibly uncomfortable while the director spoke of being a Nazi sympathizer.

“Oh my God, this is terrible,” she said at one point to co-star Charlotte Gainsbourg. And after the press conference ended, the actress remarked to von Trier, “Oh, oh Lars. That was intense.”

The controversial director has since apologized for his comments, saying, “If I have hurt someone this morning by the words I said at the press conference, I sincerely apologize.”

And despite declaring, “Ok, I’m a Nazi,” he added in his statement, “I am not anti-Semitic or racially prejudiced in any way, nor am I a Nazi.”

Ridiculous! Lars von Trier likes to say shocking things to get attention, but this is just too much. This just seems like a very poor and desperate attempt to get attention for the upcoming film’s release. I was interested in this movie before, but this is pretty off-putting. I’ll probably just skip it, he doesn’t seem like a good person to support. What do you think?
