Reese Witherspoon Is Still Sporting That Cast

Reese Witherspoon spent an afternoon with friends chatting and having lunch but one thing she wasn’t able to do is ditch that unsightly footwear yet.

The Oscar winning actress twisted her ankle shortly before Mother’s Day and has had the cumbersome cast on her left foot for a little over a week now.

The Water for Elephants star did have a pleasant day out in Santa Monica none the less.

Julia Roberts & Tom Hanks Cover W Magazine

Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks cover W magazine for the June issue and talk about how their careers and the roles they’ve chosen have changed as they get older.

Hanks, who made his name off his romantic comedies like Splash, Big, Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail wanted to segue into films where his character had more complicated conflicts like The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan and Cast Away.

“I told my agents that I wasn’t going to play pu***es anymore,” Hanks told the magazine. “I was tired of playing, ‘Oh, boo-hoo–I was in love, but oh, boo-hoo-hoo.’ There comes an age when you can’t do that anymore. I wanted to play men instead of boys. In your mid-30s, it’s time to start playing guys of compromise. And as you get older, men of bitter compromise.”

Roberts has tried to find roles that challenge her as an actress and that she can identify with.

“I think it’s called growing up. Light and funny has a more compelling quality when you’re younger,” she said. “But I haven’t abandoned the genre: I love falling down; I love Lucille Ball. It’s just that a lot of those stories revolve around problems that I can’t convincingly portray at this age.”

For their new film Larry Crowne, people might think on first glance it’s supposed to fall into that romantic comedy genre, but Hanks, who wrote and directed the film, wants people to take away more.

“The movie is about combating cynicism. People are naturally optimistic, but you have to choose to walk away from cynicism,” he explains. “You have to say, I am going to combat cynicism today. I had this idea about a unique guy who loses his job and then, at the end of the movie, realizes that it was the best thing that ever happened to him. He thought he was going to die, but it turned out great!”

Selena Gomez Says ‘I Want To Be In Love’

Selena Gomez realizes her love life is under a tremendous amount of scrutiny, whether she dates Justin Bieber or not.

The 18 year-old covers the summer June/July issue of Teen Vogue and says she is enjoying this time in her life.

“At this moment in my life, I’m at a point where I want to be in love, to give my all and fall head over heels. I’m eighteen,” the actress said.

“I’m not going to marry anybody I’m with, and I know that. The next heartbreak I have, I’m sure I’ll be like, How can I live without this person? But I’m still trying to dive in and enjoy it,” Gomez told Teen Vogue.

But her professional life is a little dicier, now that Wizards of Waverly Place is ending and she’s leaving the cocoon of Disney.

“It’s like starting over. I was trying to explain it to one of my friends, and he said, ‘You’ll be fine. People believe in you.’” Selena shared.

“But when they’re putting together a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, I don’t think they’re going to go, ‘Selena Gomez would be great for this!’ I’m not an option. It’s humbling, having to go from this Disney high back down to having to fight for roles.”

Rachel McAdams & Michael Sheen At 2011 Cannes Film Festival

Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen attended the Sleeping Beauty premiere at Day 2 of the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival on the French Riviera.

McAdams went out on a fashion limb by choosing a pants for the red carpet event. The Monique Lhuillier nude colored sequin and beaded bustier top with raw silk trousers in a matching shade were an exception to the unofficial fashion rule of gowns, skirts and long flowing trains for the event.

She kept her hair styled simply – but it gave her a very mod yet still modern look. I think she looked fantastic. I love it when celebs take a step outside of the usual.

The couple met while filming Woody Allen’s new film Midnight in Paris last year and have been together ever since.
