One more seat has been filled.

Simon Cowell has chosen the beautiful Cheryl Cole to join him stateside on the American version of The X-Factor.

Cole, 27, will join Cowell and Antonio “LA“ Reid for the talent competition.

The Girls Aloud singer said “I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X Factor. I absolutely love it here in the UK and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special. I can’t wait to get started.”

Cowell praised Cole and welcomed her to the judges table.

“I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with,” said Cowell. “She is also a complete brat. Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.”

The FOX TV show begins production on Friday with one judges’ seat left to be filled. One more announcement to go…

The brand new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are visiting California this summer.

Prince William and Catherine Middleton are hopping the pond to visit both Canada and the United States this July.

The official visit to Canada has been known for quite some time, but the addition of the newlyweds to California, while rumored, has been confirmed via Clarence House twitter.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit California, USA from 8th to 10th July 2011″ it reads, succinctly.

Wills and Kate will be hosted by former California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

William has been to the US before (but not in an “official capacity”) however this will be Kate’s first trip.

The pair will be in Canada from June 30 – July 8 and then jump across to California and stay for two days, July 8 – July 10th.

She ranked number four on Maxim’s Hot 100 list but nabbed the cover for the June issue anyway (and it makes you wonder why she wasn’t number one.)

Cameron Diaz tells the magazine that marriage just isn’t relevant in the modern world.

When asked if she thought marriage was a dying institution, Diaz, said, “I do. I think we have to make our own rules. I don’t think we should live our lives in relationships based off of old traditions that don’t suit our world any longer.”

Diaz said that her relationship with the NY Yankees Alex Rodriguez was “awesome” and shares a tip for keeping things spicy with your mate.

“One should dry-hump as much as possible,” Diaz insisted. “It leads to great things. I’d prescribe at least once per day. What’s also nice about dry humping is that it can happen anywhere.”

Diaz’ next film, Bad Teacher, reunites her with old flame Justin Timberlake and is in theaters June 24th.

Kristin Cavallari was decked out in white and her engagement ring as she took in the premiere of Something Borrowed at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Los Angeles.

The reality TV star showed off her 5.2 carat, square cut diamond ring reportedly worth $125k, which her fiance, Jay Cutler, gave to her when proposing over Easter weekend.

Cavallari and Cutler, quarterback for the Chicago Bears, are considering a 2012 wedding in The Windy City.

“My mom and that whole side of the family is there, and Jay obviously lives there,” she told US Weekly. “I think that makes the most sense.”

Pantene is grabbing two hot actress to be their new celebrity brand ambassadors: Eva Mendes & Naomi Watts.

E! Online is reporting the duo has signed on to a multi-million dollar contract with the two stars for print, online and television ads ready to launch in July.

“With their undeniable beauty and confidence that women admire, Eva and Naomi are wonderful additions to the Pantene family,” said Pantene spokeswoman Julie Marchant-Houle.

Mendes will be the face of Pantene’s Breakage to Strength line and Watts has the Flat to Volume duties under control.

Jennifer Lawrence is the hot actress in Hollywood and ASOS magazine snagged her for their June 2011 cover.

With her role in Winter’s Bone earning her an Oscar nomination, she has big things on the horizon.

She will be in this summers X-Men: First Class with Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, boyfriend Nicholas Hoult and best friend Zoe Kravitz and the 20 year-old has landed the part of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games.

Lawrence says it’s everything she’s desired but she’s struck by the magnitude of it all.

“It’s a weird thing to get used to,” she tells ASOS. “This is exactly what I always wanted, and it’s here and I’m 20.”

“I don’t think that I could see this coming in my wildest dreams, but you don’t expect your wildest dreams to come true,” Jennifer confesses.

“If I don’t sound incredibly grateful, I think I’m just overwhelmed.”

The self-confessed “love addict” Jennifer Love Hewitt has split from her boyfriend, Alex Beh.

The two had been dating for just under a year and broke up about a month ago.

“She’s doing fine,” says a representative for Love Hewitt. “They haven’t been dating for a little while.”

It’s quite a change for the actress who told Ellen DeGeneres in January that she had three rings picked out for Beh to choose from for her.

The 32 year-old actress wrote a book The Day I Shot Cupid: Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt And I’m A Love-Aholic in which she detailed her own search for mister right and the sometimes embarrassing lengths she has gone to, to find the man of her dreams.

Hugh Hefner must be getting excited about his upcoming wedding to Crystal Harris.  And although the idea of Hugh getting excited about anything kind of grosses me out, I find it rather adorable that he Tweeted a picture of their wedding invitation today.

The photo, in which the couple’s custom postage stamp (with a photo of them, naturally) is clearly visible, was accompanied by the caption:

Friends and family are already receiving our wedding invitation

Hugh and Crystal have been engaged since December 2010 and will be married at the Playboy Mansion on June 18th. As their wedding is an evening affair (6:00 pm), they are requesting semi-formal attire.   He is 60 years older than her.  I assume her long-term plan here is to be his widow, because I can’t think of any other reason she’d be doing this.

Alicia Keys performed on Monday at Hope Rising! – a benefit concert for the Stephen Lewis Foundation in Toronto, Canada.  The Foundation supports organizations “working on the front lines of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa.”

The cause is near and dear to Alicia’s heart, as it is closely related to the work of her own charity, Keep A Child Alive, which provides medication and care to children and families in Africa and India who are affected by AIDS.   When asked what keeps her committed, she said:

“These are human beings. You put these numbers out there — 30 million dead, 33 million-plus infected, 16 million AIDS orphans — these are people, this isn’t like some dot on a chart.

“This man sat next to me and he was like, ‘I just wanted to thank you for doing all of this because I wouldn’t be here without you.’ People have said that to me before. Maybe they meant, ‘I wouldn’t be in this city.’ But this man would not be alive. That affected me so heavily.”

As regular readers know, I love it when celebrities – well, actually anyone, to be honest – are deeply involved in a cause like this.   And I mean truly involved, not just lending their name and face to a cause.  Brava, Alicia!
