First Look: Robert Pattinson in ‘Cosmopolis’ (Image)

Here’s the first image of Robert Pattinson in the upcoming film Cosmopolis.

…an adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel Cosmopolis. Principal photography started on the movie this week, and so here’s the first look at Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon as husband and estranged wife Eric and Elise. Get used to looking at that limo, because if the film is faithful to the book you’ll be seeing a lot of it.

Now, I’ve never read the book but watching the two talk in the back of a car for most of the movie doesn’t sound very appealing. Pattinson has a definite following so I’m sure this movie will be well received on some level, even though it’s far from mainstream storytelling.

‘The Lion King’ 3D Gets a Release Date

The classic Disney animated film The Lion King is being remastered in 3D and will be in theaters on Sept. 16, 2011.

Disney will release a 3D version of its classic 1994 animated blockbuster The Lion King on Sept. 16, 2011, the studio announced today. It follows the trend of high-profile library fare getting extra-dimensional face-lifts (the studio upgraded its first two Toy Story films ahead of Toy Story 3), the latest being Fox’s recent announcement that it will present Titanic in 3D on April 6, 2012.

I must admit, I didn’t even know this was happening until today. There is such a big list of movies that are being re-released in 3D. Disney isn’t the only company doing this, George Lucas has said he is planning 3D re-releases of all six star wars movies as well. I think it’s all a little overboard, talk about milking franchises.

‘The Hangover Part II’ Sets Midnight Opening Record with $10.4 Million!

The Hangover Part II had the biggest opening of any R-rated movie in history for a midnight opening last night.

This Memorial Weekend started early for the 2011 Summer Movie Season with both Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures’ The Hangover Part 2 and DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 2 distributed by Paramount screening Thursday midnight shows. Warner Bros is saying that Hangover Part 2, one of the most anticipated sequels of the summer, opened after midnight in 2,600 locations with $10.4 million. That’s a big big number and sets the record for the highest grossing R-rated midnight show. (The previous record was Paranormal Activity’s $6.3M.)

I’m not surprised, this movie s bound to be a huge success. This marks the true beginning of the summer movie season, both The Hangover Part II and Kung Fu Panda 2 are going to do extremely well this Memorial Day weekend. The Hangover Part II probably won’t be #1 over KFP2, but that’s due to it’s lack of 3D pricing and it’s R-rating.

‘Akira’ Continues to Crumble as Director Albert Hughes Exits

The ill-fated feature film Akira took another blow today as Albert Hughes stepped down as director of the project.

Director Albert Hughes is exiting the movie, I’m told. Insiders say that it is an amicable creative differences parting of the ways. Warner Bros will try to put him on another movie right away…

…As for Akira, the intention of the studio is to keep the picture on a fast track, which means they will find a director quickly. The studio has been wrestling with the approach on the film for the past year. Last March, Warner Bros put together a short list of up-and-coming actors after getting a strong rewrite by Steve Kloves that set the film in a rebuilt New Manhattan, where a leader of a biker gang saves his friend from a medical experiment.

Bad news for anxious fans of the original animated film. This movie is probably not going to see the light of day for a very long time, things just aren’t working out. They say they have it on a ‘fast-track’, but it keeps getting derailed. I’ll believe the movie is actually coming once they secure some actors for the film, the script obviously has major problems.

Funny New ‘Fuzzy Pack’ ‘Muppets’ Trailer

Here’s the newest teaser trailer for the upcoming comedy The Muppets.

I love that they are reaching out to different audiences with these fake-out trailers. It reminds me of the old days of The Muppets.  The direct spin-off from The Hangover Part II‘s trailer was smart, considering that movie was released today. I wonder what Disney will throw at us next, I hope they do a few more of these.

First Look: ‘The Three Stooges’ on Set (Image)

Here’s the first look at two of The Three Stooges from the set.

The shot shows Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe) and Sean Hayes (Larry). Unfortunately the shot didn’t include Will Sasso (Curly), but I’m sure we’ll get a good look soon. Now that these shots are out, I’m sure we’ll see some official shots in the next few days. I must say Diamantopoulos really looks the part! Sean Hayes just looks like Jack from Will & Grace with a bad haircut (no surprise there). I don’t expect much from this movie, I am hoping it’s not terrible. Time will tell.

All New ‘Green Lantern’ 3D Trailer is Awesome!

Here’s the newest trailer for the upcoming comic book movie Green Lantern Starring Ryan Reynolds.

This is by far the best trailer released so far, the first and only to actually get me excited to see it. This movie needed a thorough premise rundown like the opening gives. I still have my doubts about this movie, but this trailer definitely changes my perspective a lot. This is the ’3D’ trailer for theaters, it’s too bad they don’t make a 3D version for computers too.

Maria Shriver Will Definitely File For Divorce, Say Friends

Former First Lady of California Maria Shriver has told friends that she intends to file for divorce from husband Arnold Schwarzenegger following his public acknowledgement of his 14-year old love child Christopher Baena.

Friends had speculated that her Catholic faith would prevent her from actually divorcing, but sources now say:

“Maria absolutely will be filing for divorce…It’s not a matter of if Maria will file for divorce, but when.”

Meanwhile, TMZ has posted photos of Shriver attending Christopher’s baptism in 1998, smiling and posing with her own children, her husband, his mistress Mildred Baena, and baby Christopher.

How Maria hasn’t knocked Arnold out yet, I don’t know.   Wishing her luck through this ugly process.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries Are Getting Hitched

After dating for just six months, Kim Kardashian and New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries are engaged to be married.    Kris proposed on May 18th with a romantic scene at Kim’s house, and a custom 20.5 carat ring by Lorrain Schwartz.  Twenty point five carats, folks… a monster 16.5 center diamond flanked by two 2-carat honkers.    (See a picture of Kim’s engagement ring.)   I mean that’s just ridiculous, but I would expect Kim to be impressed by nothing less.

This was a very quick courtship, and you know how those sometimes go.  I hope things work out well for these two.  Congratulations!
