Intense ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2′ Character Posters

Here are the brand new character posters for the upcoming finale Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

This is definitely the movie I’m most looking forward to this summer. Its hard to believe these are among some of the very last Harry Potter movie posters we’ll ever see. Unless of course J.K. Rowling decides to write more HP books, thats not likely though. This movie series has been such a normal part of the landscape for so long, I get the feeling the absence will be missed after this one is released.

‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1′ First Official Poster

Here’s the first official poster for the upcoming two part series conclusion The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.

This poster is terrible, it’s not like they don’t have images they could use for a proper poster. This looks like a desktop background with the movie title slapped on. I’m sure they’ll be releasing far better posters in the near future, but this one seems like it’s a complete waste of time.

Sarah Palin Movie Coming in June

Sarah Palin has a documentary coming out next month, propelling her towards a 2012 presidential nomination.

Sarah Palin will the subject of a feature film to be released next month, the conservative filmmaker behind it, Stephen K. Bannon, tells Real Clear Politics.

The site reveals that Palin asked her close aide Rebecca Mansour to reach out to Bannon about creating a series of videos last November — shortly after Republicans swept elections, and Palin was credited with helping. Palin hoped the videos would answer questions about her decision to step down as governor and protect her legacy — clearing the way for a potential 2012 presidential campaign.

Bannon, however, decided to take the project one step further. He’d create a feature film on Palin, and put up the $1 million in financing himself.

Not a documentary I care to watch personally, but I’m sure many of her loyal followers will be out there anxiously awaiting it’s release. It’s going to be an interesting next 18 months in the world, this is just a mini-preview. I’m way more excited about The Hobbit coming out in 2012 than the presidential election, the Olympics or even the end of the world for that matter.

Full ‘Smurfs’ Trailer is Not Bad!

Here’s the first full length trailer for the upcoming movie The Smurfs.

This trailer isn’t bad like I was expecting, although it’s definitely not the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. I was a fan of The Smurfs as a kid, so it’s fun to see them in the real world. The amount of product placement in this movie seems a little overbearing, I spotted at least 5 logos in the trailer alone, so I’d expect a lot more in the movie. Hopefully the story has something for kids and adults alike.

New Blu-ray Releases May 24th, 2011: Full List

Blu-ray is the new standard, DVD is on its way out and every week they are releasing many films on the relatively new format. Here’s the full list of Blu-ray movies out this week on May 24th, 2011.

This week’s highlights are the new action/sci-fi movie I Am Number Four and the animated movie Gnomeo & Juliet. Neither are movies I’m planning to see, but teens and kids can be happy this week. I’d rather watch the newly released Platoon than any of the others on this week’s list.

‘Star Trek 2′ Gaining Momentum for Announced 2012 Release

Star Trek 2 is currently scheduled for release on June 29th, 2012. Finally word of some progress has come down the pipeline.

Paramount set a release date for the film well over a year ago and that date is coming up at warp speed: June 29, 2012. All the other blockbusters scheduled for release around that time have begun production but, as far as we know, the script for the second Trek has yet to be completed or approved. So what’s the latest? Co-screenwriter Roberto Orci was over on TrekMovie.com and gave an update, basically saying that pre-production is ongoing based on a highly detailed, 70 page outline and that things will really begin to snowball once J.J. Abrams – who himself hasn’t officially committed to the project – finishes his obligations to Super 8, opening June 10.

J.J. Abrams isn’t officially committed to the movie, but I’m sure he will be in the next few days. It’s unfortunate that the film isn’t already going into it’s production stages. It’s unlikely it’ll make it’s announced release date next year, unless they start shooting in a couple months. Even then, it’ll more likely get a delay until at least the holiday season 2012. I really loved the first one, I hope they can manage to make the second on the same quality level.

Tom Cruise to Star in ‘Oblivion’

Tom Cruise is officially starring in the upcoming big budget sci-fi movie Oblivion.

It takes place in an apocalyptic future where most of the population lives in clouds above an earth surface that has been rendered uninhabitable. Cruise will play a soldier who’s stuck alone on the planet, repairing the drones that patrol and destroy a savage alien life form. He encounters a beautiful woman who crashes in a craft, and their experience together forces him to question his world view. Disney allowed Kosinski to shop it because it didn’t fit its family-film mold and attempts to rein it in to a PG rating was creatively strangling the project. It will be PG-13.

This graphic novel based film sounds like it has a lot of potential to be good! They’ve hired the same director from Tron Legacy which I found pretty boring. I’m not too excited about that factor but hopefully it has a great and compelling script. I’m glad Cruise is taking on a sci-fi role again, he was great in Minority Report! I’ll keep you posted as details on this movie surface.
