‘Hangover Part II’ May Get Tattoo Removal Before DVD Release
The Hangover Part II has been plagued by a lawsuit from the tattoo artist who did Mike Tyson‘s facial tattoo. His original plan was to stop the release of the movie, that didn’t happen. But now, there’s a good chance Ed Helm‘s facial tattoo in the movie will be digitally altered to look totally different before it’s released on Blu-ray and DVD this holiday season!
When The Hangover Part II comes to Blu-ray and DVD in December, a major running joke could be totally different. There is an ongoing lawsuit between between Warner Bros. and tattoo artist S. Victor Whitmill, the man who designed Mike Tyson‘s famous face tattoo referenced in the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, if the lawsuit isn’t settled, the studio plans to digitally remove Ed Helms‘ Tyson tattoo from the packaging and film itself.
I think it’s crazy that the lawsuit even held any water, much less that it could lead to such a huge alteration to the movie. It’s one of the funniest gags in the movie, largely because of the whole Mike Tyson factor. Really though, if the tattoo is changed, it’s not going to hurt the movie much. They’ll just have to pick something smart as a replacement.
