Ellen Barkin Wins Best Actress At The 2011 Tony Awards

Calling it the “proudest moment of [her] career,” Ellen Barkin took home a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play on Sunday night.    She won the award for her performance in The Normal Heart, a play about the HIV-AIDS crisis in the mid-1980s in New York.

2011 TONY AWARDS WINNERS – FULL LIST

Although she appeared in several off-Broadway productions early in her career, Ellen’s role in The Normal Heart marked her Broadway debut.  She noted her freshman status in her acceptance speech:

“Thank you for the way you’ve embraced me and welcomed me into your community. I am so grateful and so humbled to be in your company.”

Ellen wore a black L’Wren Scott gown with Chantilly lace, and matching shoes.  She looked a bit somber, but elegant as always.  Click through for more photos. (Read the article)

Christie Brinkley & Alexa Ray Joel: Mother-Daughter Bonding At The 2011 Tonys

Supermodel and now Broadway actress Christie Brinkley and her daughter Alexa Ray Joel appeared together on the Tony Awards red carpet Sunday night.

Alexa looked better than I think I’ve ever seen her.  She was the very definition of classy in a black halter dress and glittery shawl.  Christie, on the other hand, probably could have taken a few fashion lessons from her daughter.  She looks like she’s trying out for a role as Tammy Wynette, or going to a senior prom in 1983.  Oh, that hair!  And although I love the electric blue color of her Zuhair Murad gown, would it have killed her to use a little double sided tape on the bodice?  In some photos, she’s about to have a wardrobe malfunction; in others, she’s all lopsided and wonky.   And I’m just not sure which is worse.

Oh Lola! Dakota Fanning Fronts New Marc Jacobs Fragrance Campaign

Dakota Fanning is the perfectly “seductive and sweet” face of the newest scent by Marc Jacobs, Oh, Lola.

This new fragrance, which features notes of raspberry, frais des bois, pear, magnolia, vanilla, is styled as a “little sister” to the designer’s Lola.  Which is a bit novel and somewhat confusing, because Lola was intended as an “older sister” to his Daisy perfume.  I guess the family is growing?

This is what Jacobs has to say about his new product:

“We recolored the bottle and changed the juice [...] This Lola is more of a Lolita than a Lola, but we weren’t going to call the fragrance Lolita. Lola is more seductive; Oh, Lola is sensual, but she’s sweeter.”

And on his new model:

“When we were speaking about who to use in the Oh, Lola fragrance ads — I had recently seen ‘The Runaways.’ Dakota was in it, and I know she could be this contemporary Lolita, seductive yet sweet.”

Dakota commented that she was “humbled” to be asked to front the campaign.   Humbled to be asked to pose as a Lolita?  The bottle between her legs just couldn’t be more obvious.

Oh, Lola will launch at Bloomingdale’s this July.

Emma Watson In Prada For The July Cover Of Vogue

The next chapter of her life is starting and Emma Watson tells the July issue of Vogue, she’s ready for it.

“I want to live like Patti, she says of Patti Smith, whose biography she just finished. “I want to write like Patti. The book was so honest and brave. I loved the way she sees the world. I really felt that life was more beautiful after I read it, and I felt more hopeful.”

After fighting the studio to accomodate her desire to go to college, Watson says she signed on for the last films when Warner Bros. agreed to make it possible, she felt able to throw herself into filming with renewed energy.

“As the role of Hermione became more interesting,” says David Yates, the director of the last four Potter films, “Emma became more engaged. She is an incredibly intuitive and instinctive actor. She can dig deep to find an emotion and bring it to the scene.”

Watson is ready to push herself artistically and her next big role as Sam in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, is a radical change from Hermoine Granger.

“Hermione is so close to who I am as a person that I’ve never really had to research a role,” she says. “I’m literally rediscovering what it means to be an actress.”

“I’ve probably earned the right to screw up a few times,” Emma said. “I don’t want the fear of failure to stop me from doing what I really care about.”

WATCH: Conan O’Brien’s Commencement Speech To Dartmouth

The usual commencement speeches at graduation are stuffy, full of platitudes and so boring it makes you question your sanity while sitting through them.

That is unless you have Conan O’Brien as your graduation speaker.

Speaking to Dartmouth grads, the late night talk show host poked fun at himself and at them but when it came down to it, O’Brien told them that failing isn’t the worst thing in the world that can happen to you, and it will.

“Like many people, I thought that achieving that goal [hosting The Tonight Show] would define me as successful. But that is not true. No specific job or career goal defines me, and it should not define you,” he said.

“In 2000, I told graduates to not be afraid to fail, and I still believe that. But today, I tell you that whether you fear it or not, disappointment will come. The beauty is that through disappointment you can gain clarity, and with clarity comes conviction and true originality.”

You can watch the 4 minute highlight or the 24 minute full speech below.

If you don’t love Conan already, you should after this. (Read the article)

Prince Harry Takes On Prince William In Polo Charity Match

Prince Harry may not have been able to beat his older brother, Prince William in the charity polo match this weekend, but he did show off his Royal hotness at the event.

Harry, dressed in white, showed off that sexy, devilish grin and hot body and won the unofficial which-brother-is-hotter cup.

In the charity tournament, the Duke of Cambridge took the opposing side of his younger brother at the Sentebale Polo Cup at Coworth Park Polo Club near Ascot in Berkshire and his team defeated Harry’s despite the downpour of rain and strong winds.

Sentebale is the organization Prince Harry set up with Prince Seeiso of the small African nation Lesotho, to help children who are poverty stricken and orphaned because of HIV/AIDS.

After the match, Harry hosted a private fundraiser for the charity and spoke of his time in the landlocked country.

“Talk of orphans and vulnerable children seems a million miles away from where we are tonight, in the glorious setting of Coworth Park,” Harry began.“But, even now, just talking about this, I have the clearest picture in my mind of a young herd boy called Tholo. William and I met him one night last summer when we were in Lesotho together.”

“He was seven-years-old. He had walked on his own through the cold and darkness for five miles,” Harry recalled of the young boy who wanted to learn to read and write and become a doctor.

Sentebale means ‘forget-me-not’ and is a tribute to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, and Prince Seeiso’s mother Queen Mamohato.

Both Harry and William were at the Trooping the Colour parade on Friday (see photos here.)

Bret Lockett Fesses Up: He’s Never Met Kim Kardashian!

Bret Lockett should put his gear on and get ready – Kim Kardashian is not taking his story to InTouch Weekly lightly.

Last week, the tabloid ran with the story that claimed the NFL star had a 5 month affair with the reality TV star, but after facing legal threats from Kardashian and her team of lawyers, Lockett is clarifying what he means by affair.

Lockett says that he and Kardashian never met in person, but that there was an ongoing sexting relationship between the two.

“I’ve said before that it was a physical relationship, but I say that meaning there was a physical aspect in the relationship,” Lockett told CNN. “She did tell me that she was touching herself in a physical way over the phone, towards me. So when I say physical, that’s what I mean.”

The New England Patriots player says the reason they never met in person is because he was busy with football and she was working on her multiple business enterprises.

“It was during my football season,” he said. “She was opening her stores in Miami and New York. I know her book signing was being launched at the time, so we weren’t able to connect.”

The Keeping Up with The Kardashians’ star is unrelenting in her legal threats against Lockett but he too is maintaining his claim: they had an affair while she was engaged to Kris Humphries. Lockett says he isn’t taking anything back.

“I do not plan on apologizing or retracting anything,” he said. “What I’ve said is the complete, honest truth and you can’t fault someone for telling the truth. That’s just plain and simple.”

Well he better have deep pockets because if Kim K. does follow through with a lawsuit, it could be costly.
