Helena Bonham Carter: New Face Of Marc Jacobs

He’s known for unusual choices in models and his quirky ads but Marc Jacobs has outdone himself.

The designer has picked Helena Bonham Carter for his latest muse, celebrity endorsement deal and face of his new advertising campaign. She will star in his new Fall/Winter 2011 – 2012 ads shot by photographer Juergen Teller.

Teller’s photo of Carter in a pink mermaid-like gown with black pillbox hat above, illustrates the perfect pairing this is.

This isn’t the first time the 45 year-old actress has worn Jacobs. Although she often chooses Vivienne Westwood, she opted for a black and white lace dress from Jacobs for the 2011 SAG Awards and looked fabulous (see those photos here.)

Bonham Carter is a brilliant choice for the line because her individuality and sometimes rather odd style picks line up perfectly with Jacob’s sense of aesthetic.

Often criticized for her style (not me, I love her unique take on the stuffy events!) she managed to land on Vanity Fair’s 2010 best dressed list for “exquisite self-expression”.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Are ARK Gala Glamorous

Prince William and Kate Middleton made an absolutely elegant entrance to the 10th Annual ARK Gala Dinner at Kensington Palace in London on Thursday, June 9th.

CatherineDuchess of Cambridge, stepped onto the purple carpet for the Absolute Return to Kids event wearing a gorgeous Jenny Packham dress in a lovely shade of shimmering, pearlescent barely-there blush pink embellished with Swarovski crystals and sheer shoulder details.

The organization and annual gala is founded by Arpad Busson and he was thrilled to have the young royals at the event, which was also sponsoring Prince William and Prince Harry‘s foundation.

William and Kate “bridge the generations,” said Busson. “We need to get young philanthropists involved with us. They could not have been a better choice.”

At the couple’s table, they were seated with Tom Ford, Colin Firth, Liz Hurley, Jemima Khan, Prince Pavlos of Greece, Princess Marie-Chantal and Countess von Bismarck.

William, 28, spoke to the gathered crowd and said that with his brother Harry, he and Catherine want to make a difference.

“Harry and I find ourselves in a position to be able to help. I really believe that individuals can make a serious difference – whether it’s through wealth, through position, or some other advantage,” he said. “Catherine and I hope to use our philanthropy as a long-term catalyst for meaningful change.”

Isla Fisher At The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic: Hot AND Cute!

Isla Fisher just looked too damn good at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on Governor’s Island in New York.  Check her out!  Not that she doesn’t always look great, but she is especially awesome here.    Cute dress, cute shoes, cute bag, great smile, gorgeous hair… she’s got it all.   Way to go, Isla!

The event was a benefit for Hope Help And Rebuild Haiti (HHRH), an initiative launched by Donna Karan‘s Urban Zen Foundation following the Haitian earthquake in January 2010.   HHRH’s mission is to create a conscious community of leaders in music, fashion, film, finance and art to become agents of change for the renewal of Haiti.  With supporters like Isla and the other attendees at the event, they’re surely well on their way.

Amber Heard At The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic (Photos)

I thought the whole quasi-nurse uniform dress trend was over – or maybe I hoped it was – but it appears to be alive and well in Amber Heard‘s closet.   The actress wore a dress to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on Governor’s Island that looks like it would be better suited to an Army field hospital in World War I.

Amber looks so uncomfortable in all these pictures.  Why is she so stiff, like she’s a doll without real joints?  It makes her look like she’s trying way too hard.  What’s she trying to do?  Be the next Scarlett Johansson, if you ask me.  Amber, honey, if you want to be ScarJo you have to relax.  Not to mention get some better red carpet clothes.

You can catch Amber next in The Rum Diary, starring Johnny Depp, out this fall.

Kylie Minogue Kicks Off Australian Leg Of Her “Aphrodite” Tour (Photos, Video)

Kylie Minogue kicked off the Australian leg of her current tour with an appearance and performance at the Wildfire Bar & Restaurant in Sydney.  Aphrodite Les Folies is more of a spectacle than a tour, with costumes by Dolce & Gabbana and… fountains? Oh yes. The water elements of the concert were designed by the same guys who did the synchronized water show at the Bellagio in Vegas.

The show has been described as “one part Caesar’s Palace, add a measure of Cirque du Soleil and a few dashes of modern ballet… a feast for the eyes and ears.” We would expect nothing less of Kylie.

Jon Cryer Talks About Charlie Sheen: “Nobody Was Prepared For This”

Jon Cryer sat down with David Letterman last night and the talk show went right into the Charlie Sheen meltdown with Cryer.

“Boy, you’ve had an eventful six months, huh?” Letterman said to the Two and A Half Men star.

The Late Show host asked Cryer if he recalled when or how it all went so wrong and Cryer said he really didn’t know when it started, but he knew things were out of hand when he got an odd text from a friend.

“No, I don’t. It’s as much a mystery to me as everybody, I think,” the actor said. “My favorite moment… I got a text from somebody, I don’t remember who it was, saying Charlie Sheen just called Thomas Jefferson a p***y”

“I said ‘I think are getting out of hand.’”

Letterman made a great point – that things seemed tolerable to everyone until he started going after Two and A Half Men producer, Chuck Lorre.

In the end, Cryer was incredibly supportive of Sheen and wished him well.

Prince Harry Gets Asked By War Vet ‘When Are You Getting Married?’

Prince Harry was tested by a wily war veteran earlier today when the young Royal was attending the annual Founder’s Day parade at London’s Royal Hospital, where the Chelsea Pensioniers reside.

His brother, Prince William‘s wedding to Kate Middleton has left many wondering about Harry’s future. He has been dating the Zimbabwean born Chelsy Davy on and off for over 4 years and she accompanied him to the nuptials. Today, he was asked about his marriage plans.

As Harry greeted the elderly vets, 85 year-old William Titsmarsch got the question out everyone has been dying to ask.

“When are you getting married?” he quizzed the Prince. Harry took it in stride, replying “Not for a long time,” laughing, he added: “Who put you up to ask me that?”

The wheelchair-bound pensionier joked afterwards saying “They’ll shoot me in the morning.”

The 26 year-old Prince got a jab in at his brother after the 300 residents marched by.

“I find it terrifying that your drill is so much better than my brothers’, but it doesn’t surprise me.”

He then joked that he expected to be chastised by those before him, adding: “I fully realise that afterwards, in my brother’s defence, I am going to be gripped, not by one, but 216 Sergeant Majors, all at once.

“All I can say is that it would be an honour and a privilege.”

Prince Harry was moved by the men and women at the hospital and told them he understood why the Hospital was so important.

“I do have some experience of soldiering. The comradeship that comes with it is one of the things I treasure most in life. The Army, for me and thousands like me, is a family. In that respect, for veterans coming here, it must be like coming home.”"That is why this place matters, and always will.”

The Hospital was set up in 1682 as a place for veterans and the Prince is the first serving officer to review the parade since 1974.

Emma Stone Is Elle’s July Cover Girl

A yellow ostrich feather dress and a bright attitude lend Emma Stone a sunny feel for her July cover of Elle magazine.

The 22 year-old jokes with the magazine about her braces and thumb-sucking, not being recognized and enjoying her career as it takes off:

On having braces and wearing glasses while growing up: “And I sucked my thumb until I was 11, so I had this expander in. I was a good-looking kid. I never felt, like, dorky. I was just like, ‘Yup, these are my braces. I’ve had them forever.’”

On not being recognized as easily in public with her new look: “I mean, I haven’t been around very long. I can’t expect everyone to have seen The House Bunny. Oh God. I am having such waves of internal embarrassment, which now I’m admitting on a tape recorder. This is so one of the things I should keep in my head.”

On how her career has grown: “These past two years, I’ve stopped having to remind myself to be present, which has been the greatest gift. Because I know it’s so fleeting. I’ll kick my ass later on if I don’t enjoy it right now. But it does make you realize that so much of the joy of it is the journey. The struggle is such a lovely part of it.”
