Taylor Lautner in Action on New ‘Abduction’ Poster

Here’s the latest poster for the upcoming movie Abduction starring teen heartthrob Taylor Lautner.

This poster is really trying to sell Lautner as an action star. This movie will certainly show if that’s true, one way or the other. I’m hoping his acting abilities have evolved, he’s not the most believable on screen. The storyline in this movie seems compelling enough, I’m just hoping Lautner can carry it. What do you think?

First ‘Brave’ Teaser Poster from Pixar Looks Beautiful

Here’s the first official poster for next year’s big Disney/Pixar animated film Brave.

Beautiful detailing, if the movie looks like this in full motion Pixar will really out-do themselves again. Brave promises to be a great original story something we know Pixar is extremely good at. Unfortunately all we have this year is Cars 2, but Disney/Pixar has great stuff coming for the next three years. Hopefully we’ll see a teaser trailer for Brave with the release of Cars 2 this friday!

Idris Elba Starring in Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’

Idris Elba has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Guillermo Del Toro sci-fi film Pacific Rim.

Idris Elba has closed his deal to play the lead role of Sensi in the Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros sci-fi action film Pacific Rim. Guillermo del Toro is directing as his next film and production gets underway in November.

Elba is good, I’m glad to see him get a big role like this. This is the role that Tom Cruise was to play originally, to help give you a concept of how big this movie could potentially be. Guillermo Del Toro is one of my favorite directors and this is a massive project with all kinds of grandiose sci-fi monsters, which is right up his alley. I couldn’t be more happy about this project happening, Pacific Rim is targeted for a summer 2013 release.

First ‘Footloose’ Trailer and Poster Arrive

Here’s the first poster and trailer for the upcoming remake Footloose.

It’s strange, the movie almost looks like it’s set in the 80s, but the Krumping scene sticks out like a sore thumb. I still just keep wondering why this movie was made, it doesn’t look all bad, it just seems unnecessary. I wish studios would take a risk more often and make something fresh, instead of rebooting and remaking everything under the sun.

Smoldering New ‘Puss in Boots’ Poster

Here’s the fresh new poster for the upcoming animated film Puss in Boots.

Pretty straightforward, there’s our star, Puss. This movie actually looks like it’ll be pretty fun, a good one to take the kids to with some big kid humor cleverly disguised within. Hopefully it’s better than the last two Shrek movies, those were a waste of time.

Jennifer Lopez Returning to Film With ‘Parker’ and ‘Expecting’

Jennifer Lopez is in talks to take roles in the upcoming movies Parker and What To Expect When You’re Expecting.

I’m told that Lopez is in discussions to play the female lead opposite Jason Statham in Parker, the Taylor Hackford-directed action film adaptation of the Donald Westlake mystery novel series…

…At the same time, Lopez is also circling What To Expect When You’re Expecting, the Kirk Jones-directed Lionsgate film based on the bestselling how-to guide to preparing for childbirth. Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison star. Lopez is in discussions for the supporting role of Holly in that film.

I’ve always liked Lopez better as an actor than as a singer, this might be a really good choice for her. She was good in both The Cell and Out of Sight with George Clooney. I don’t watch American Idol anymore so I welcome her back to starring in movies with open arms. Of course there’s always that American Idol paycheck that might just keep her off the big screen, or at least limit her severely.

‘Scary Movie 5′ Gets a Release Date

The previously only rumored Scary Movie 5 has been given the release date of April 20th, 2012.

They’ll release Scary Movie 5 on April 20, 2012 and Halloween 3D on October 26, 2012. Last we heard about Scary Movie 5 it was just a hypothetical idea along with Clerks 3, Rounders 2 and all those other possible Miramax sequels. An April release date leads one to believe there’s already some kind of script out there.

The fact of the matter is, even if there is no script yet it’s just Scary Movie 5, nobody is expecting a masterpiece. I’m sure they could whip a script up in the next couple of weeks. It’ll most likely be an eighty-five minute barrage of recent horror film parodies and jokes, but that’s all anyone can expect. Hopefully it’ll be more like the first two movies than the last two.

Douglas Booth and Hailee Steinfeld are the New ‘Romeo and Juliet’

Douglas Booth and Hailee Steinfeld are set to star in the upcoming remake Romeo and Juliet.

She’s (Steinfeld) playing Juliet, and Holly Hunter, Ed Westwick and Kodi Smit-McPhee are also set for roles. Now Douglas Booth (Pillars of the Earth, the upcoming Great Expectations) will be her Romeo.

This isn’t exciting news to me in any way, another Romeo and Juliet movie couldn’t fall lower on my interest meter. I am glad Hailee Steinfeld is getting work, she was great in True Grit. Hopefully they spin the story in some way new for this remake, but don’t hold your breath.

Megan Fox and John C. Reilly Join ‘The Dictator’

Megan Fox and John C. Reilly are set to join Sasha Baron Cohen in the upcoming comedy The Dictator.

She (Megan Fox) and John C. Reilly have both been added to the cast of The Dictator. That’s the new film in which Sacha Baron Cohen and his Borat and Bruno director Larry Charles chronicle the not really true tale of a Middle Eastern despot who ends up in the US, and a goat herder who happens to be his exact double.

I was beginning  to wonder if Megan Fox was even going to get major work again. She’s been surrounded by a lot of bad press lately, given her not so subtle departure from the Transformers franchise. I’m hoping she does a good job in The Dictator, this is goofy comedy. It’s not like this role will require much of her which is probably for the best, she’s not exactly a compelling actor.

George Clooney & Elisabetta Canalis Have Split

George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis have ended their two-year relationship.

The pair released a joint statement to Entertainment Tonight confirming the split.

“We are not together any more. It’s very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy.”

The Italian model recently told Chi magazine she’s was looking forward to a future that included a wedding but was quick to clarify that she was content with her present relationship.

“I am a firm believer in marriage, in the future I will be married, but for the time being I am happy as I am,” she said. ““I am very happy at the moment – thanks to my man and my fairytale is continuing. We are a couple that never gets bored.”

Clooney, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday with Canalis by his side, is in London filming Gravity with Sandra Bullock. Canalis, 32, is currently in Milan at the fashion shows, most recently DSquared.

Ladies, he means it when he says (repeatedly!) he’s not marrying again.
