Katy Perry is rolling across North America with her California Dreams tour in all its candy-coated wonder. She stopped off in Toronto for two nights last week and put on performances that were described as “light, fluffy and downright child-like with a slightly subversive subtext throughout.”

Katy kicked off she show with “Teenage Dream” dressed in a peppermint-covered dress and sparkly red Mary Jane pumps.

She swings down for a few dates in the U.S. before heading back up to Canada for several shows as she makes her way west.

Britney Spears just cannot get away from people trying to make a buck off her.  The latest culprit is her ex-husband, Kevin Federline‘s, grandfather, Earl Story.   Seems Earl, who is retired, is feeling a little thin in the wallet.  And what do people do when they need money?  They sell their stuff on eBay, and that’s exactly what Grandpa Story decided to do.  With the help of Kevin’s aunt, author Diane Story, Earl posted a large lot of various memorabilia related to K-Fed and Brit’s life together.  Items included their wedding invitation, a hat signed to Grandpa Earl from Kevin and Britney (shown in the picture above), a photograph of Britney when she was pregnant with Sean Preston, an invitation to her baby shower, a letter from Dr. Phil McGraw asking to interview members of the Federline family after the couple split up, miscellaneous photos and other items.

Now, if you’re a Britney fan, I can see how some of this stuff would be really cool to own.  But there have also been many other points in history where they could have fetched a pretty high price.  So why sell them now?  Oh, right, Earl needs money to “help fund his retirement,” says the item description on eBay.  But keep reading, there’s more.

With the recent death of his wife Betty [Story], (Kevin’s grandmother) Earl no longer wishes to keep these items when they can be appreciated by a collector.

Which kind of makes you wonder if Earl had been hounding Betty for years, telling her how much money they could make from selling this stuff, wondering about the sentimentality of women holding onto keepsakes (a rose petal holder from a wedding?  Why?)  and Betty telling him, “Over my dead body!”  She died in April, so there you go.

Personally I think that if he really wanted the items to be “appreciated by a collector” he would have had a private dealer handle the transaction rather than taking it to eBay.  It would seem more dignified and respectful of Brit and Kevin, as well as his wife to do it that way.    Earl may choose to go that route anyway now:  he didn’t receive any bids at all on his memorabilia.    Karma certainly can be a bitch.

On Glee, the character of Finn has led a fairly scandal-free teen existence but the actor who portrays him, Cory Monteith, did not.

The 29 year-old actor tells Parade magazine about his drug habit and the eventual rehab it led to and says he is truly lucky.

“I’m lucky on so many counts – I’m lucky to be alive.”

Monteith was a bright student who eventually hit his teenage years and cut class, got drunk and high all day, attended roughly 12 schools and troubled teen programs and ended up dropping out of school all together.

It took an intervention, a stay in rehab, a relapse and his theft of money from a family member to set him on the right course.

“I stole a significant amount of money from a family member,” he admits. “I knew I was going to get caught, but I was so desperate I didn’t care. It was a cry for help. I was confronted and I said, ‘Yeah, it was me.’ It was the first honorable, truthful thing that had come out of my mouth in years.”

He shares how hard work and truly making a change in his life is how he became successful. Monteith says that it’s important to him that kids understand that and don’t follow his mistakes believing it will turn out all right.

“I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too. … But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it. If I can, anyone can.”

Heidi Klum strips down to promote the ninth season of Project Runway in a brand new poster for the fashion designer competition reality show.

The former Victoria’s Secret model has chosen to leave little to the imagination and go nude, grabbing some attention for the TV show. Klum, 38, has her costar, Tim Gunn‘s famous catchphrase “Make It Work” written on her arm for good measure.

All the usual suspects are returning this year; Klum, Gunn, Nina Garcia and Michael Kors and will judge 20 contestants for the opening episode.

Making guest judging appearances this year are Kim Kardashian, Christina Ricci, Malin Ackerman and Zoe Saldana.

Season 9 debuts on Lifetime on Thursday, July 28th at 9pm.

Country music legend Glen Campbell and his wife, Kim Woollen have revealed that Campbell has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

The “Rhinestone Cowboy” singer is releasing a final album this August, Ghost on a Canvas, and plans a series of farewell concerts before he is unable to perform for fans.

Campbell,  75, is currently suffering from some short term memory loss and Woollen says she does not want fans to be confused if the musician gets a few notes wrong.

“Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer,” says Kim. “But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn’t want people to think, ‘What’s the matter with him? Is he drunk?’ “

The disease is still in it’s early stages, although Campbell has been plagued with short term memory loss for a few years and he says he still wants fans to enjoy themselves and his music.

“I still love making music,” says Campbell. “And I still love performing for my fans. I’d like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin.

The Country Music Hall of Fame star releases his last album August 30th and dates will be announced for The Glen Campbell Goodbye Tour shortly.

Citing “irreconcilable differences,” former First Lady of California Maria Shriver has filed for divorce from her husband, former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Shriver was widely expected to divorce Schwarzenegger following the revelation that he had fathered a child (Christopher, 13) with the family’s housekeeper, Mildred “Patty” Baena.

She is asking for joint legal and physical custody of their minor sons, Patrick (17) and Christopher (13).  (Yes, both of Arnold’s 13 year old sons are named Christopher.   Incredible.)    Shriver and Schwarzenegger are also parents to Katherine (21) and Christina (19).    Evidently there is no prenup in place; TMZ reports that the couple is worth around $400 million.

Emma Stone isn’t the only one heating up the pages of Vanity Fair.  Gwyneth Paltrow sheds her shirt and most of her other clothes to appear in the publication’s August 2011 issue.  Appearing in a special supplement called “On Jewelry,” Gwynnie models several sparkly pieces by Louis Vuitton while clad in nothing but a pair of fishnet stockings.

Many will say this is sexy, and I suppose objectively I can say she looks nice.  If you’re into chicks who are way too skinny, that is.   There’s also something about this photo that screams “BARELY LEGAL” and that’s problematic not just for the usual reasons, but also because Gwynnie is 38 years old.    Too old, in my opinion, to be trying to play the ingénue.

Anyway.  I could go on all day about how much I dislike Mrs. GOOP, and while that might be amusing for awhile, I just don’t see the point.  So what do you think of Gwyneth’s Vanity Fair look?  Comment and tell us!

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf prides himself on his honesty and has some revealing things to say to Details magazine.

Namely that he and his costar of the first two flicks, Megan Fox, did have a fling, a thing, a costar romance. The honesty part takes a back seat when he’s asked if Fox was with her boyfriend, now husband, Brian Austin Green.

“Look, you’re on the set for six months, with someone who’s rooting to be attracted to you, and you’re rooting to be attracted to them,” he explains. “I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing, and I think you can see the chemistry onscreen.”

When [Details writer Adam Gell] inquire about Fox’s status at the time with her longtime boyfriend, Brian Austin Green, LaBeouf replies, “I don’t know, man. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. . . .”—repeating the phrase exactly 12 times with various intonations, as if trying to get it just right. Finally, he says, “It was what it was.”

Did he truly not know or was it willful ignorance? Hey – I’m not judging, I’m just curious.

Regardless of Fox’s relationship status at the time of their hook-up, the 25 year-old moved on to another costar. Wall Street 2 actress Carey Mulligan is someone LaBeouf clearly still cares about and with whom he’s still friends.

“I still love her. I think she’s a f–king awesome person and an incredible actress. We’re still pals. I wouldn’t take any of it back, and I don’t think she would either. It just ran its course.”

LaBeouf’s honesty may get him in trouble but his candor is refreshing in an era of carefully manicured celebrities.
