A photo shoot for a celeb bride-to-be wearing bridal gowns is nothing terribly unique – until those photos show up online shortly after the engagement is cancelled.

Such is the case for Kristin Cavallari, the former star of Laguna Beach and The Hills, who modeled some lovely wedding dresses and then was unceremoniously “dumped” by her fiance, Jay Cutler.

Cavallari, 24, looked every inch the blushing bride in an assortment of bridal lace and satin, smiling for the cameras, only to find out less than a week later her own wedding would not take place.

The reality TV star is quoted by Life & Style as saying she was “bubbling with excitement” and she describes how she wants her big day to be.

“I want a romantic, mystical wedding with lots of flowers,” she gushed.

Among the new details of the split that are emerging – Kristin and Jay argued about her moving to Chicago the weekend of their Miami engagement party and that Jay’s family was completely on the baby train. Kristin, however, wasn’t jumping on. She felt she was too young to start a family.

Kristin was said to be “devastated” by the split but she found comfort in friends. After the break up went public, she went out for a girl’s night and met up with Alessandra Ambrosio and Nicky Hilton at a Hollywood hotspot.

Is there a doctor in the house?  There certainly was at the Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Tuesday.  The dynamic duo of Matt Smith (The Doctor) and Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) were on site to celebrate the release of Doctor Who Series 6 on DVD and Blu-Ray.

(I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:  I love these two.  And I love the show.  Could I even be a bigger nerd?  Don’t answer that.)

Heather Matarazzo (Welcome To The Dollhouse, The Princess Diaries) is finally planning her wedding to her girl Caroline Murphy, after a three-year engagement.

The pair had intended to get married in California when same-sex marriage was legalized.  The subsequent passage of Prop 8, which overturned same sex couples’ briefly-granted right to marry, derailed their plans.   Now that the New York legislature has legalized gay marriage, Heather and Caroline have moved their wedding plans to the opposite coast.

They like the idea of a country or rural setting for their nuptials.  They’re already thinking about what they’ll wear (Heather – a dress; Caroline – a white pants suit) and are also thinking ahead to starting a family:  they each would like to carry a child, and they also hope to adopt.

Here’s the first poster for the upcoming film Ides of March Starring Ryan Gosling and George Clooney.

An idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail. Based on the play by Beau Willimon.

I really hadn’t heard much about this film until now nor have I seen the play, but this definitely looks intriguing. It’s a stellar cast, and George Clooney has proven himself a good director in the past. I’ll be keeping my eyes on this one.

Here’s the first teaser trailer for the upcoming movie Battleship.

Okay, so I really didn’t  expect aliens to become a part of the story here. Granted, I didn’t know how they would create a story out of a game like this in any way, shape or form. But I really didn’t expect a sci-fi movie. I’m actually intrigued by this trailer, Liam Neeson is awesome and the effects look cool. I guess time will tell on this one, but for now, color me surprised!

Emma Stone is most likely joining the upcoming movie Gangster Squad starring Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn.

Stone would play Jean, a sharp-tongued siren caught in a love triangle with Gosling’s character and Penn, who portrays mobster Mickey Cohen.

I love Emma Stone, she’s one of the few stars in recent years who has the kind of charisma and humor that really draws you in. From what I’ve been told she’s completely grounded and real off-camera as well. I’ll bet Emma will be around for years to come in Hollywood, that is, if she wants to be.

Cutting a dashing figure on the blue carpet, Neil Patrick Harris attended the premiere of his new film, The Smurfs at New York City’s Ziegfeld Theatre.

The 38 year-old star, who suited up in a pinstripe Dolce & Gabbana for the event, said he was pleasantly surprised by the genuineness of the movie.

“[...]And it’s also weirdly sweet and sentimental, the movie, which I wasn’t expecting, to be kind of moved a couple of times by the adult sweetness of it,” the How I Met Your Mother actor revealed. “Which felt authentic and not too sugary.”

Here’s the new poster for the upcoming comedy The Muppets.

This poster simply shows the mass of characters we’ll see in the movie, rather than being another spoof. This movie promises to be very colorful to say the least. The combination of Jason Segel, Amy Adams and all The Muppets is a sure bet for comedy. The Muppets will be in theaters on November 23rd, 2011.

Jayma Mays filled the blue carpet with some serious contrast as she headed to the premiere of her latest movie The Smurfs held at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City.

The 32 year-old actress chose a vivid green, strapless mini dress from Reem Acra with jeweled detail at the waist. She kept her hair straight and accessories minimal for a polished ‘red’ carpet look.

Mays said her character, Grace, ranks as the most down-to-earth role she’s had.

“She’s probably the most grounded character that I’ve ever played, despite the fact that she is talking to little blue creatures,” the Glee actress said. “I’ve never really played a very motherly role before and, for me, Grace Winslow was all about that.”

“She’s ready to become a mother, and it just so happens that these little creatures come into her life at about the same time that she’s about to have a baby. I think she’s learning how to give good advice and be loving. I don’t really know that I’ve played someone so grounded before. I feel like most of the characters I’ve played are a little bit kooky.”
