‘Dancing With The Stars’ Sends First Contestant Home

Ron Artest and Peta Murgatroyd

There’s already one fewer celebrity sashaying across the ballroom floor on Dancing With The Stars.   The first elimination was made from the show on Tuesday night, and Metta World Peace, aka Ron Artest, was the unlucky first to go.

His first (and only) dance was the cha-cha, for which he and partner Peta Murgatroyd only earned 14 points.   Backstage, the L.A. Laker told People that he could have done better.

“I really didn’t know how much fun this was going to be.  I didn’t know that I would actually want to make an effort to win.  I was having a great time and I was looking forward to learning a few dances, but I wish I would have put in a little more effort.

Years ago when I saw Dancing with the Stars, I didn’t think I could ever do the show. And now that I’m here, I’m like, ‘I wish I would have tried a little harder.’ “

Peta was disappointed but took the elimination in stride. “It kind of sucks, [but] it was great working together,” she said.

The top scoring pairs were J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff, and Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani, who each earned 22 points.

The remaining contestants go on to dance either a jive or a quickstep next week.

Christina Ricci: ‘Some Of The Best Writing Is On Television’

Christina Ricci is the Nylon cover girl for their September TV Issue.

The actress will land on the small screen in the upcoming ABC show Pan Am as an air stewardess in the 1960s when the glamour and excitement of the industry and profession was at it’s highest.

Here’s what she shared with the mag:

On choosing a TV show: “You know, some of the best writing is on television, and I have to say, I spend most of my time watching TV.  For years I’ve been saying I wanted to do television.”

On vintage fashion: “I asked my stylist: ‘What’s the rule from when something becomes vintage and not just, like, last season? Seven years, apparently.  So seven years later, I’ve brought out my Alaia dresses again.”

On filming an episode in her bikini: “In the end, there’s only so much you can do and I’m not going to punish myself because I don’t look like the average person in a bikini.”

On Deadliest Catch: “When would I ever know what it’s like to be on a crab ship if it wasn’t for this show?”

Two And A Half Men

Ashton Kutcher made his much-anticipated debut on Two And A Half Men on Monday, drawing 27.8 million viewers.

The Nielsen Co. says that’s more people than had ever tuned in to a previous episode of the show in its eight year history.

Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen as the show’s lead after Sheen was fired earlier this year.  He sounded humble and pleased with the response to his new gig in this Tweet:

I owe you guys bigtme for showing up for us last night. Hope you were entertained. We’ll be there every Monday for you.

Can he keep the magic alive?  We’ve got this whole season ahead of us to see!

Victoria’s Secret models Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Chanel Iman and Adriana Lima all get individual covers for the October issue of Elle.

The ladies are part of a 80s throwback theme the magazine put together and they used models instead of celebs and give the in-demand catwalkers their due.

“We felt it was time to show the sexy side of fashion again, enlisting four of the runway’s super seductive models,” Robbie Myers, ELLE’s Editor-in-Chief said.

Myers went on to say this photo shoot references Elle’s greatest shoots from the 80s.

“These covers harken to what made ELLE ELLE: Shot outside, drenched in sunlight, color, and of course accessories, the women look right back at you with all the personal and sexual confidence in the world”

Anderson Cooper & Mom Gloria Vanderbilt Talk Family Tragedy & Suicide

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Anderson Cooper can and has taken on any assignment from the serious (Egypt, natural disasters) to the frivolous (Snooki and spray tanning) but it’s a very personal story that the CNN anchor brought to his new daytime talk show Anderson this week.

Cooper, 44, had his mom, Gloria Vanderbilt as a guest and the two delved into their family tragedy, the suicide of Gloria’s son and Anderson’s brother Carter Vanderbilt Cooper.

Gloria, who was thrust into the spotlight as a child in a nasty custody battle between her mother and aunt, spoke to her son about the moment 23 year-old Carter went over the railing at their 14th story penthouse balcony.

“I still run through it…and he did not jump,” she explains. “He was sitting on the wall with one foot on there and one foot hanging over and he kept looking down. And I kept begging him, too, and then when he went, he went like an athlete, and hung over the wall like this. And I said, ‘Carter, come back,” and for a minute I thought that he was going to come back, but he didn’t. He let go.”

She revealed that she contemplated taking own life as well but the thought of her other son, the then 21 year-old Anderson, kept her from following Carter.

Cooper told his mom that despite everything tragic that has happened in her life, she remained so positive and hopeful, he is inspired by her.

“You have survived so many things,” Anderson said. “This custody battle when you were 10 years old, the loss of your father when you were an infant, the loss of Carter, of my dad, your husband and so many others.”

“It hasn’t made you tough,” he continues. “It hasn’t hardened you. You’re still open to experience and open to new loss and open to new heartbreak and to new love.”

Chaz Bono Debuts Strong On ‘Dancing With The Stars’

The kick-off night to the most controversial season of Dancing With The Stars came and went Monday night with quite an interesting set of first-time dances from the new cast.

All eyes were on Chaz Bono‘s performance – how would he do? Turns out, pretty solid.

Bono was singled out by the judges for his impressive footwork and although he expressed his initial fears over his age and his weight, Chaz and pro partner Lacey Schwimmer turned in a good first cha cha.

Who didn’t do so well?

Ron Artest (Metta World Peace) Rob Kardashian and Elisabetta Canalis were among the stiffest and least confident of all the contestants with Canalis lying on a bed for the beginning of her routine.

Nancy Grace, Kristin Cavallari and Hope Solo gave middle-of-the-road performances and David Arquette was also in the center although he wins cutest cheering section with daughter Coco Arquette and his estranged wife Courteney Cox supporting his ballroom whirl.

Ricki Lake, J. R. Martinez and Chynna Phillips are going to be strong competitors but if Carson Kressley‘s dancing starts to match his enthusiasm – watch out! He was a pure delight to watch!
