Melissa Etheridge Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Melissa Etheridge received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier today.

The 50 year-old singer, who rose to international fame with her 1993 album Yes I Am, joked about the longevity of someone who has a plaque on the famous walkway.

“It’s going to be here forever. So like, after the Zombie Apocalypse, they’re going to come here and they’re going to dig up Hollywood and they’re going to see my name,”

Etheridge, who received the 2,450th star, said she hoped that others would be inspired by her and that they would keep pursuing their dreams.

“If nothing else, let this be an inspiration. Let my life have been an inspiration to anyone – gay, straight, breast cancer, woman, mother, any human being who receives the inspiration from my story.”

“Let that be because if nothing else, to show the world that you can have a dream,” Etheridge continued. “That you can grow up in a small Midwestern town and believe and desire and create a life and end up with your star on the Walk of fame in Hollywood Boulevard. Believe in your dreams, my friends, believe, because they do come true and they’re beautiful.”

Rihanna Grabs Glamour’s September Cover

Rihanna gives us a playful view of her backside on the cover of the September issue of Glamour magazine.

The Dolce & Gabbana backless top and sequin pants show off the 23 year-old singer’s awesome figure.

She talked to the magazine about being a role model, how she wants to be a lady in the bedroom and how life can be messy, but it’s better to have it out in the open than to hide it.

On dealing with how messy life can get: “I think honesty is the ultimate liberation in life. People want to shy away from the truth and keep sweeping it under the rug. But after a while, you pick up the rug and there’s just way too much dirt, so you might as well just be up front about it.”

On being a role model for young girls: “I want to set the right example and, at the same time, live my life. . . . I feel like pop stars can’t be rock stars anymore because they have to be role models, and it takes the fun out of it for us, because we just want to have fun with art.”

On liking dominant guys in the bedroom: “I play a very dominant role in my life, in every aspect of it. And I like to feel like a lady still, at some point. I feel like that’s the time when a guy really gets to be a man, and I get to be a woman. And if I’m being a man in the bedroom too, there’s nothing really in it for me.”

Rihanna’s cover is on sale August 9th.

Kings Of Leon’s Caleb Followill Walks Off Stage In Texas

Kings of Leon have promised to make up some shows that were cut short/cancelled this weekend after lead singer Caleb Followill walked off stage in Texas over the weekend.

Caleb complained that his voice was “100 percent completely gone” and it was too darn hot at the Dallas show.

“For the record, I’m not drunk, I’m just f—in’ hot…I’m about to fall down here because I’m so f–in’ hot,” Caleb told the audience.

“I’m gonna go backstage and I’m gonna vomit, I’m gonna drink a beer and I’m gonna come back out and play three more songs.”

Bassist Jared Followill told the audience Caleb was “unfit” to continue and apologized to the crowd.

“Caleb’s just a little unfit to maybe play the rest of the show,” he said. “We’re really really sorry guys…I know you guys f–ing hate us… It’s really not our fault, it’s Caleb. He can’t play the rest of the show.”

The men’s winner was soccer stud David Beckham who grabbed a 21% total over Daniel Craig and Johnny Depp.

‘Millionaire Matchmaker’ Patti Stanger Offends Gays With Comments, Apologizes

Bravo reality TV star Patti Stanger took on gays, Jews and smart women in one sitting Sunday night.

The Millionaire Matchmaker appeared with Andy Cohen on his chat show Watch What Happens Live! and decided to categorize gay men as slutty, Jewish men as dishonest and gave single smart women the dating advice of pretending to be dumb to land a guy.

The exchange between Stanger and openly gay host Cohen:

“In the gay world, it will always be open. … There is no curbing the gay man,”  Patti told Andy. “I have tried to curb ‘you people.’”

Cohen replied, “I am a gay and am down for the monogamy.”

“When was the last time you had a boyfriend?” Stanger laughed.

She was blunt in her assessment of another group, categorizing all male Jews by saying “Jewish men lie.”

Cohen, also Jewish, looked annoyed.

And Stanger was not finished there. She went on to tell women that men cannot handle it if they are smart, but somehow guys find a magical acceptance of their brains after they marry.

“They don’t like them before they are married,” she told the hosts of New York Live. “You’ve got to dumb it down a little because men are not that bright.”

The 54 year-old third generation matchmaker sorta apologized on twitter, but only to gay men who live outside Los Angeles.

“…It’s true LA gays toughest nuts to crack to monogamy!” she tweeted.

“Attn male Gays: I support you & my comment on WWHL was to a LA guy who can’t find commitment.”

“So sorry – didn’t mean to offend anyone. Love you all. Xo”

Sweeping and stereotypical generalizations.

Bane’s Ultimate Weapon from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’? (Images)

Here are a couple of revealing new images that have surfaced from the set of the upcoming mega-sequel The Dark Knight Rises.

Could this be Banes doomsday device in the movie? A previously captured scene from the set showed the device being wheeled out behind Bane at a football game where he gives a speech calling the orb “the instrument of your liberation.” It certainly looks like this thing is going to be a major part of the story, I can’t wait to see the full trailer for the film, hopefully by Christmas time! In the mean time, speculate away!

‘Thor 2′ Promises More Intergalactic Action and More Natalie Portman

Thor 2 is definitely coming and Marvel has release some information on what to expect from the sequel.

Marvel president Kevin Feige told them (EW) that Thor 2 would “take Thor literally to other worlds,” and that the film will “primarily be the journey of that character, of he and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and how the new dynamic with his father (Odin, played by Anthony Hopkins) is working out, as well as what are the broader stakes for The Nine Worlds.”

The Nine Worlds, for those unfamiliar with the particulars of Norse mythology or the simplified Marvel Universe version, include Midgard (Earth), Asgard and  and Jotunheim, the realm of the Frost Giants. Those three worlds were seen in Thor. In total, the Nine Worlds are arranged on three dimentional planes like so:

Top level: Asgard , Alfheim, Vanaheim

Middle level: Midgard, Jotunheim, Nidavellir, Svartalfheim

Lower level: Muspelheim and Niffleheim

So obviously there are a lot of places to go to and see in the Marvel universe. The first Thor just gave us a sample of the intergalactic possibilities. This movie is scheduled to come out one year after The Avengers (July 2013), so it makes sense that we’d have interplanetary adventures with Thor, rather than sticking to Earth. I’m looking forward to seeing where they go with this one!
