Here’s the first official poster for the upcoming film starring Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher The Iron Lady.

Meryl Streep is probably going to be contending for best actress yet again at next year’s Oscars for her role in this film. She’s the only actress that is so consistently impressive that nominations are incredibly common. This isn’t a movie that would have any pull for me were it not for her involvement. The Iron Lady opens on December 16th, 2011.

Gerard Butler and Michelle Monaghan smile brightly on the red carpet at the premiere of Machine Gun Preacher held at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, September 21st.

Monaghan chose a deep green dress with beading and sheer panel at the neckline from Valentino. She pulled her (now) red hair back and chose matching heels from Brian Atwood.

Butler chose a silvery gray Calvin Klein suit with coordinating tie for the premiere.

The film centers on the true life story of Sam Childers (Butler) – a former drug dealer and ex-con who finds God, gets clean and heads to the Sudan to open an orphanage. The preacher takes up arms and does whatever he has to, to defend the children and families from the brutal war lords and rebels who massacre, burn and kidnap kids and their parents.

Childers said Butler is the real deal and he was pleased at how well the 41 year-old Scotsman did.

“I’m not going to lie, I was excited but I didn’t think he was going to pull it off,” says Childers, who sees this film as a chance to draw attention to the cause.

“I mean the guy has got a strong Scottish accent and I didn’t think he was going to pull it off. But I’ll tell you what – the guy does an unbelievable job.

“One thing about me, I am a preacher, but I’m not afraid to tell you how it is. If I wasn’t satisfied with this movie and what it’s doing, then I wouldn’t support it.”

Wanda Sykes is a funny lady, but she talked about something very serious during her recent interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show.  The comedienne revealed that earlier this year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer – and made the difficult decision to treat her condition with a double mastectomy.

The cancer was discovered when Sykes had breast reduction surgery.   She told Ellen:

“It wasn’t until after the reduction that in the lab work, the pathology, that they found that I had DCIS [ductal carcinoma in situ] in my left breast. I was very, very lucky because DCIS is basically stage-zero cancer. So I was very lucky.  But cancer is cancer. I had the choice of, you can go back every three months and get it checked. Have a mammogram, MRI every three months just to see what it’s doing. But, I’m not good at keeping on top of stuff. I’m sure I’m overdue for an oil change and a teeth cleaning already.”

Sykes also considered her family history of breast cancer, and ultimately decided “to have a bilateral mastectomy.”  Now, she says, she has “zero chance of having breast cancer.”

Christina Applegate made the same choice when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008,citing many of the same reasons.

Lindsay Lohan is in Italy for the Spring/Summer 2012 Milan Fashion Week and she attended the 2011amfAR Milano Gala, Auction and Dinner held at La Permanente on Friday night.

The 25 year-old actress wore a backless, halter top black gown from designer Philipp Plein, who chose her to be the new face for the fashion designer’s upcoming ad campaign.

Plein chose Lohan as his next model, replacing his last headline-grabbing actress/model, Mischa Barton.

Lohan’s appearance in Milan for Fashion Week comes on the heels of her allegedly throwing a drink at a photographer during a party while attending New York’s Fashion Week.

Through her publicist, Lohan said she was “extremely distressed” by all the hoopla surrounding her and the rumors of bad behavior “were completely false.”

Nordstroms at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles had quite a crowd on Thursday when a Twilight: Breaking Dawn star made an appearance. Kellan Lutz was on hand to launch his latest project – the men’s clothing line Abbot + Main.

Lutz, 26, partnered with Dylan George designer Danny Guez for the new endeavor and the initial offering is a 25-piece ready-to-wear collection that is reminiscent of the relaxed feel of Venice Beach, CA.

“I used to live on the corner of Abbot Kinney and Main,” Lutz said. “And I just love the feeling in Venice. That’s what I was trying to capture with Abbot + Main.”

The Immortals actor says he’s not just the pretty face of the line – he’s very active in all aspects of the line.

“I am a part of every decision,” he said.  “Nothing gets decided on unless it comes through me.  I put in a lot of input now like I did in the beginning.  We raided my closet to find out what type of shirts I usually wear and what kind of fabrics I like. Because I didn’t just want to be the face of the campaign, but have it be my brand.”

The line will expand to include women’s clothing for Spring 2012.

Lutz will host an after party celebrating the fashion line at the Chateau Nightclub & Gardens in the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Resort on August 23rd.

Naomi Watts is on the cover of More for October 2011, all tousled, soft and ethereal.  It’s a perfect look to accompany a frank and accessible interview in which she discusses a variety of subjects, including her father’s early death, parenting, and how she caught the attention of her current partner Liev Schreiber.   She also speaks fondly about her two-year relationship with the late Heath Ledger, whom she dated from 2002 – 2004.

“We had a beautiful relationship, only a couple of years, but he was a man who was completely full of joy, and there was a lot of laughing and affection. He was really a very special soul and made a great impact on my life. And a great actor, but I know there was so much more to come. And it’s a tragedy for his little daughter.”

Ledger died in January 2008 from a prescription drug overdose, leaving behind his daughter, Matilda, whose mother is actress Michelle Williams.

Beyonce raised everyone’s Pulse at Macy’s as she launches her fragrance in New York City.

The expectant mother stepped out in a white halter dress with feathered skirt from Lanvin Resort 2012 at the retail giant’s Herald Square location.

The day before, Beyonce sparkled in a blue sequined tunic dress from Roberto Cavalli she paired with a matching blazer from the designer at the Pulse event in the Penthouse of Dream Downtown.

Pulse combines notes of Blue Curacao, Bluebird orchid, peony, jasmine, musk and Madagascar vanilla for a warm and citrus scent.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is the latest celebrity to paint on the milk mustache and ask, “Got Milk?”  Leave it to Miss Maggie to do something different though.  Her ad, which was unveiled on Thursday, touts the nutritional value of the steamed milk in a latte.   (Perfect for those of us who don’t like drinking milk straight, and also a potential boon for coffee shops.)

Even though the term caffe latte is Italian, the campaign shows Maggie looking rather French in a black beret, accompanied by the following text:

Ooh la latte.

Start your day with something delicious and nutritious.  Surprise.  The milk in your morning latte provides essential nutrients that most of us are missing. C’est magnifique!

She did it.  She really, actually did it.  Last year, Tyra Banks announced she was writing a fantasy novel about models, and I honestly thought it was kind of a joke.   But she evidently wrote the book, and found a publisher willing to make actual physical hard copies of it, and now she’s on the promotional trail.

Modelland follows the story of  Tookie De La Crème, an unlikely candidate in a modeling competition set in an alternate reality where the top models have special powers.   But I can’t do this incredible (and I do mean incredible as in “I can’t believe this pile of poop”) new novel justice.   You’ve got to read the plot summary yourself.  From Amazon:

No one gets in without being asked. And with her untamable hair, large forehead, and gawky body, Tookie De La Crème isn’t expecting an invitation. Modelland—the exclusive, mysterious place on top of the mountain—never dares to make an appearance in her dreams.
