John Legend And Chrissy Teigen Are Engaged

A gorgeous holiday vacation in the Maldives was the backdrop for John Legend‘s marriage proposal to Chrissy Teigen.

The singer and the model escaped to the island nation in the Indian Ocean for some time away and they returned as an engaged couple.

A rep for the couple confirmed the engagement but no other details have been released at this time. Legend and Teigen have been dating for 4 years.

Legend, 33, has won nine Grammy Awards over the years and is active in many charitable causes including his Show Me Campaign which fights poverty in the US and Africa.

Teigen, 26, made her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue modelling debut last year and has a food blog So Delushious! (I happen to enjoy her blog,)

Tiger Woods’ Former Girlfriend Rachel Uchitel Is Five Months Pregnant

She’s having a baby!

Rachel Uchitel, the former girlfriend/mistress of pro golfer Tiger Woods, and her husband Matt Hahn are going to be parents in the spring of 2012.

Uchitel, 36, who married Hahn, 26, in a secret October ceremony, posted a photo to twitter announcing her pregnancy.

“Expecting big things for 2012,” she tweeted. “Five down, four months to go.”

Uchitel’s personal life has been a tabloid staple since her affair with a then-married Woods came to light in 2009.

Bones actor David Boreanaz also admitted to an affair with the nightclub hostess while his wife was pregnant with their child, also in 2009.

Uchitel appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew last year and spoke about her engagement to investment banker Andy O’Grady who was killed in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Dido Celebrates The Holidays With Her Son – Announces She Had A Baby In July!

Some people really know how to keep a secret!

Dido and her husband, Rohan Garvin welcomed a baby back in July and the couple is just now releasing the info publicly. She gave birth to their son Stanley at London’s Portland Hospital during the summer and has quietly assumed her mommy duties away from the public eye.

“I wanted to wish you all a very happy christmas. I’m ridiculously excited about stanley’s first christmas this year!” she posted to her rarely-used twitter account on Christmas Eve.

“Hope you all have a brilliant one and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in 2012… Love, didoxx”

Dido, who’s full name is Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O’Malley Armstrong, had to bow out of performing at the Oscars last February after learning of her pregnancy but has said nothing since then.

The singer rose to fame when Eminem sampled her song “Thank You” for the chorus of his tune “Stan,” the song of the obsessed fan who kills his girlfriend, unborn baby and himself after he thinks he’s been snubbed by the rapper.

Dido was shown sitting on a toilet in the controversial video.

Matthew McConaughey Gets Engaged To Camila Alves On Christmas Day

It was definetly a happy holiday for Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves who became engaged this Christmas.

McConaughey will be in the 2012 Steven Soderbergh film Magic Mike with Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer and Joe Manganiello. The story is based on Tatum’s life as a young man in Florida, before he made it in Hollywood, working as a male stripper.

Congratulations to the couple!

Tis the season for engagements and marriage proposals!

WATCH: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer: Unintelligible Bane & Catwoman’s Occupy Wall Street Warning

The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan‘s latest take in the Batman mythos is still months away from hitting the big screen but the first theatrical trailer has appeared to whet our appetite for more.

The Dark Knight Rises trailer is causing massive buzz among fans already.

Tom Hardy gets his mask on as the super villain Bale and while he’s evil and menacing, many are complaining of having trouble understanding what he says thanks to that mask. (For the record, I don’t think it was that bad. It was a bit garbled for a moment but nothing terrible.)

One of the more intriguing aspects of the storyline is the warning Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) delivers to Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale.)

Nolan was rumored to have wanted to shoot scenes in Zuccotti Park in New York City where the Occupy Wall Street protesters are located but that didn’t happen. Instead it looks like the director is letting Catwoman voice the sentiments of the people taking part in the ongoing demonstration.

“A storm is coming, Mr. Wayne,” Kyle whispers in Bruce’s ear. “You and your friends better batten down the hatches because when it hits, you’re all going to wonder how you ever thought how you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us”

Add that to Bane’s destruction of the football field – taking out the pricey athletes and coaches – not the everyday Joe sitting in the stands – and this film just might have more political undertones to it than your normal superhero summer blockbuster studio fare.

But Nolan isn’t known for taking the average route.

Check the trailer below and tell us what you think of the first look. (Read the article)

Taylor Swift Photoshopped Mascara Ads Pulled

The lush lashes Taylor Swift is sporting in the commercial and print ads for CoverGirl’s NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara aren’t really from the product itself, photoshop had a hand in creating the glam look and it’s gotten the ads banned and pulled.

The campaign had come under fire in the UK by the Advertising Standards Authority with the group banning the Swift featuring ads.

Now the US is getting into the act with the National Advertising Division saying enough is enough.

The NAD took issue with Proctor & Gamble, the company behind CoverGirl, and their claims the beauty product provides “2X more volume” and “superior performance” while using a photoshopped image of Swift’s lashes.

NAD’s director Andrea Levine told Business Insider, “You can’t use a photograph to demonstrate how a cosmetic will look after it is applied to a woman’s face and then – in the mice type – have a disclosure that says ‘OK, not really.’”

The country superstar’s ads won’t be shown anymore, according to the NAD.

“… [P&G] advised NAD it has permanently discontinued all of the challenged claims and the photograph in its advertisement. NAD was particularly troubled by the photograph of the model – which serves clearly to demonstrate (i.e., let consumers see for themselves) the length and volume they can achieve when they apply the advertised mascara to their eyelashes. This picture is accompanied by a disclosure that the model’s eyelashes had been enhanced post production.”

Swift’s endorsing spots aren’t the only fashion and beauty ads to get the once over by the advertising boards on both sides of the pond.

Maybelline had an ad for an anti-aging product featuring Julia Roberts and Christy Turlington yanked for digitally retouching their skin.

Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs have had their ads featuring under-18 actresses Hailee Steinfeld and Dakota Fanning pulled.

In the Jacobs ad for his fragrance, Fanning is seen with the perfume bottle sitting between her legs. The UK’s ASA prohibited the ads for “sexualizing a child.”

The same agency ruled that Steinfeld’s photos “depicted a child in an unsafe position” for having the True Grit star pose on railroad tracks.

What do you think?

Did these regulatory boards go overboard or is it about time they enforce some truth in advertising?

Gerard Butler On The Mend After Surfing Accident

The treacherous waves of Half Moon Bay in Northern California held Gerard Butler underwater on Sunday and sent the actor to the hospital after his brush with the deadly currents.

Butler, 42, was on the water filming Of Men and Mavericks when he was struck by a large set of waves that broke and held the actor under for two large wave cycles, crashing him into some rocks.

Pro surfers Greg Long, Zach Wormhoudt and Peter Mei were also with Butler, paddling out to sea on their boards. The group was trying to avoid a set of 15 foot waves when the next set broke in front of them.

Butler was rescued by a safety patrol on a jet-ski and brought to Stanford Medical Center for observation.

“He had that 100-yard stare that surfers get after a two-wave hold-down or near-death experience,” ESPN writer Frank Quiarte reported.

Butler was released and will make a full recovery.

The Mavericks, as the waves are known, are a very dangerous set and have killed or given near-death experiences to many seasoned surfers.

Of Men and Mavericks is the Hollywood production based on surfer Jay Moriarty’s life.

Vogue Magazine Declares Meryl Streep “America’s Greatest Actress”

Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep is Vogue‘s January 2012 cover girl.  At 62 years old, she’s the oldest actress to grace the magazine’s cover, but who’s counting?   Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Streep looks incredible:  luminous, natural, and lovely.

She gives a serious, smart interview, discussing her pet causes – sustainable agriculture, the National Women’s History Museum – and her role as Margaret Thatcher, England’s controversial, first female prime minister, in The Iron Lady.   Streep explained why this project matters more to her than anything she’s worked on in awhile:

“Because the material embedded in it is a lot of what I’ve been thinking about. The themes in the film, which I don’t feel like underlining, have interested me for a while. And you never see these subjects covered in films normally, and so that was very thrilling…Women and power and diminishment of power and loss of power.  And reconciliation with your life when you come to a point when you’ve lived most of it and it’s behind you. I have always liked and been intrigued by older people, and the idea that behind them lives every human trauma, drama, glory, jokes, love.”

Smart, serious, luminous and lovely.  Read the whole article here.

Sandra Bullock’s Sexy Suit At ‘Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close’ Premiere

Sandra Bullock rocked a sexy fitted pantsuit for the red carpet premiere of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, held at the Zeigfeld Theater in New York City on Thursday night.

Bullock chose the black satin pants, plunging neckline jacket and stingray belt from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2012 line.

She kept her accessories simple by wearing only a couple of large cocktail rings and a carrying a dark silver metallic clutch.

The Oscar winning actress also wore her hair sleek and straight for a winning look.

Bullock, 47, has very little screen time in this drama which focuses on a young boy who loses his father in the September 11th terrorist attacks and his search through New York City for a mysterious box his dad left him.

Bullock said the amount of screen time wasn’t an issue for her; it was the quality of the part and the other folks involved in the film who made it worth her while.

“It’s truly this amazing story of this child’s point of view of what happened in his life that was this horribly tragic event,” she said at her visit to NBC’s Today Show. “And to see it through his eyes is far more, I think poignant and impactful, than to see it through an adult’s eyes.”

“I’ve already had those moments [starring, larger roles], I think. I mean, there might be more, I don’t know, but I don’t know how many moments and opportunities like this there’ll be — with stories like this, with directors and casts like this — it’s like the rare moments in life where all the elements are there, and they all come together for some strange or bigger reason.”

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is in theaters on Christmas Day.
