Kellie Pickler Teams Up With ASPCA To Celebrate… Cats!
Country singer and American Idol alum Kellie Pickler has a pet cause, and I do mean that quite literally. She and designer Geren Ford have created a cat sweater to raise funds for the ASPCA. The oatmeal heather sweater features an illustration of a cat playing a banjo. Cheesy? Maybe, but it’s pretty cute, and hey – it’s for the animals!
Pickler unveiled the sweater in New York on Tuesday, and recently talked to Parade about the project and her own love of kitties.
On her design project: “I’m no Vera Wang, that’s for sure, but it’s really cute for a cat sweater. I think there’s a stereotype for women who love cats. We get called crazy cat ladies, so this is hopefully going to break that!”
On choosing her husband (songwriter Kyle Jacobs) over her feline friends: “I love cats, but my husband’s severely allergic to them. I had to find a good home for my cat when we got together. I still get a little teary eyed when I think about Pickles.”
