Mariska Hargitay On Her Life & Adopted Children: ‘Nothing Short Of A Miracle’

Mariska Hargitay stopped by the Today Show on Tuesday morning and talked about her life now that she and husband, actor Peter Hermann, have added two children to their growing family.

The Law & Order: SVU beauty told host Ann Curry that Amaya and Andrew (both adopted last year) are wonderful and with the couple’s biological child, August, she feels her life is ‘blessed.’

“My life is really good,” she said. “It’s just so full of joy. You know, the babies have come and it feels like nothing short of a miracle. I feel very blessed.”

But Hargitay didn’t sugar coat the adoption process, revealing that she had been through heartache as well, but the results were well worth any pain.

Referring to an interview she did with Good Housekeeping magazine, the actress told the publication that they were devastated when one adoption fell through.

“I love talking about adoption because I think it’s the greatest thing on the planet,” Hargitay told Curry. “I think anytime you embrace life so fully, so heartily, there are highs and there are lows. What I said in the (Good Housekeeping) piece was that the process takes you on a ride. And the end of it is better than any pot of gold that you can imagine. There’s a child.”

Hargitay and Law & Order: SVU return this week with a new episode at 10pm on Wednesday, April 11th.

Love, I admire this woman. She is amazing in its authenticity, simplicity and generosity. I saw this interview moved me. These kids are fortunate to have a wonderful family. Mariska is still so beautiful. That smile is simply charming.
