Taylor Swift Wanted For Joni Mitchell Role In Biopic
A biopic of some of the most influential women in music history is on the horizon and Taylor Swift is eying a significant role.
Variety is reporting that Sheila Weller‘s book Girls Like Us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon – and the Journey of a Generation is being turned into a movie and working it’s way up the film ladder in Hollywood with Swift linked to play Mitchell.
The book tells the story of the three women, their very different backgrounds and how they each influenced music in the late 60s and early 70s.
No official offers have been made but Swift is the reported frontrunner for Mitchell and Alison Pill (Goon, Midnight in Paris) is in the lead for the part of King.
While the flick isn’t official yet, it is tentatively titled Girls Like Us and would be directed by House executive producer Katie Jacobs.
The 22 year-old Swift has been dipping her toes in the acting world with a small part in the Garry Marshall film Valentine’s Day and voicing Audrey in the animated movie adaptation of Dr. Seuss‘ The Lorax. The part of Mitchell would be her first major acting job.
If the project gets off the ground, it could begin filming as early as the fall of this year.
