Notorious B.I.G. Graphic Autopsy Report Released After 15 Years

Notorious B.I.G.

It’s one of the most mysterious murder cases in the hip-hop world.  In 1997, 24 year old Biggie Smalls, aka Notorious B.I.G., was shot to death as he was leaving a Los Angeles party.  Fifteen years later, the coroner’s detailed autopsy report has surfaced.  TMZ obtained the document, which was prepared by Deputy Medical Examiner Lisa A. Scheinin, and this is what it reveals.

Smalls, whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was shot four times as he sat in the passenger’s seat of a GMC Suburban. He was struck in the left forearm, the back, left thigh and right hip.  The last shot proved to be fatal; it perforated his colon, liver, heart and left lung before it came to rest near his left shoulder.   At 6′ 1″ and 395 lbs., Smalls was described as “morbidly obese.”  Toxicology reports found no drugs or alcohol in his system.

The rapper was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where doctors performed an emergency thoracotomy (opening up the chest) but the damage was too great:  he was pronounced dead just 30 minutes after he arrived at the hospital.

Smalls’ death rocked the hip-hop world.  Six months earlier, rival rapper Tupac Shakur was gunned down in a similar drive-by shooting.  Although numerous hypotheses abound – including the enduring “Tupac is still alive” theory – neither murder has been solved.
