Veteran Journalist Sam Donaldson Tagged For DUI
It’s not such a good thing when the guy who reports the news actually becomes the news, but that’s just what’s happened to Sam Donaldson: he was arrested on a DUI charge earlier this month.
On December 1, Donaldson was pulled over in the town of Lewes, Delaware when a police officer saw him drive onto the shoulder. Donaldson failed a field sobriety test, was arrested and booked, and then released. He’s due in court to answer for his transgression, but the date of his hearing has not been released.
The veteran newsman has been with ABC since 1967, and twice served as the network’s White House Correspondent, from 1977-89 and from 1998-99. At 78 years old, he is officially retired but still occasionally provides commentary and reports.
