TomKat Causes a Stir

tomkat180.jpg

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes‘s unexpected midnight visit to flashbulb capital Saint-Tropez kicked off what one veteran paparazzo dubbed “a genuine photo-riot.”

The couple drew crowds Friday night in a scene that VIP Room clubowner Jean Roch calls “crazy, crazy, crazy. It was an amazing surprise. There were maybe 500 to 600 people gathered outside when they tried leaving. It was like word of mouth had spread all along the Cote d’Azur.”

Inside the club, Cruise and Holmes “danced the entire night together,” says Roch. “When they weren’t dancing they were holding hands.”

Holmes, wearing a light-weight black dress embroidered with ruby-colored stones, and a jeans-clad Cruise appeared relaxed and friendly with the surprised photographers outside. Holmes even told one of them, “It’s great [to be in Saint-Tropez].”

The couple, who were cruising the Mediterranean with billionaire friends James and Erica Packer onboard the Australian honeymooners’ yacht the Arctic P., sailed into the waters during the late afternoon, according to observers. At midnight, the quartet came ashore at a small beach near the Papagayo restaurant, got into cars and headed to the VIP Room.

Just a day earlier, the couple made a stir in Corsica, where they headed out for pizza with a group of friends.

Still, it was the couple’s exit that left an impression on clubowner Roch, who also hosted Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s bachelor party and Diddy’s annual fete. “Last night was one of the biggest crowds we’ve ever seen. But we hope to do even better tonight. George Clooney‘s coming.”

How did Marilyn Die?

marilyn48.jpg

This young lady happens to be my idol. So when there’s news about her I must jump on it.

Sunday August 5 marks the 45th anniversary of the death of film star Marilyn Monroe. How she died continues to be the subject of speculation but not for June DiMaggio. “No way she committed suicide, Marilyn was on the phone with my mother Lee when she was killed” declares June. June is the niece of famed Yankee Clipper Joe DiMaggio and friend to Marilyn Monroe. Her story is told in the book — “Marilyn, Joe and Me” June DiMaggio Tells It Like It — coauthored by Radio and Television personality Mary Jane Popp.

(PRWEB) August 5, 2007 — Sunday August 5 marks the 45th anniversary of the death of film star Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn’s relationship with Lee and June DiMaggio was established 11 years earlier when Marilyn fell in love with the Joe DiMaggio and was welcomed into the family. It became a closely guarded relationship with the DiMaggio family. Lee DiMaggio, her Matron of Honor, treated her like a daughter, even lovingly sewing on a special collar and buttons on the suit Marilyn wore to her first marriage to Joe. And there was Joe himself, her true love, to whom she turned during her troubled times until the day she died. It was her wish that Joe handle her burial arrangements if anything ever happened to her.

In her waning years June DiMaggio, now 84 years old, knew in her heart the story needed to be told. “Marilyn, Joe and Me” was seven years in the telling. As Mary Jane puts it, “This kind of story comes about only once in the lifetime of a reporter. It was necessary to tell these stories before June leaves us too.”

June DiMaggio worked in Hollywood some 25 years with the likes of Carol Channing and whose list of friends read like a celebrity who’s who -from Barbara Stanwyck and Ann Sothern to Peggy Lee. Marilyn sought privacy away from the limelight in June’s home often enjoying some great homemade Lasagna, a DiMaggio specialty. June respected Marilyn’s wish for privacy and provided a place where she could escape even for a short time.

“Marilyn, Joe and Me”, real life stories of the very private Joe DiMaggio, who never granted an interview during his whole career and the real Marilyn Monroe, who was not just the sex goddess you saw slinking across the screen. You will see over 80 photos, most of which have never been published before, along with handwritten notes from the stars including Marilyn herself. You will even learn to love the recipes that were their favorites. You will love the real truth from a family member for the first time. “Marilyn, Joe, and Me” truly tells it like it was … no holds barred.

What’s Buzzing on TV?

66szpqu.png

1. “Reaper:” CW, Tuesdays at 9p.m. Hard (maybe almost impossible) to believe, but CW had the show that shook the dust out of everyone here. Funny, sharp, and raucous, “Reaper” – with Bret Harrison (“Grounded for Life”) and Ray Wise (just about any movie or TV show you can think of) quite literally put its best foot forward. The pilot – about a kid whose parents sold his soul to the devil (Wise) before he was born – was directed by big screen indie production star Kevin Smith. Asked if Smith was committed to direct more, “Reaper” producer Mark Gordon, demurred: “He’s going to be pretty busy doing his own thing … but he’ll be cheering us on.” Not necessarily good news for this CW newbie.

2. “Chuck,” NBC, Mondays at 8p.m. A little bit of “Alias,” a little bit of “Clerks,” “Chuck” just got a new time slot as a lead-in to “Heroes,” and suddenly everyone’s comparing the two shows. There’s a big nerd component here, too – TV critics, sharing some of the same DNA, are usually attracted to that – and plenty of action/mythology/back story/fantasy/comedy. It’s about a computer geek, Chuck (Zachary Levi of “Less than Perfect”), who becomes a secret agent. Star producers Josh Schwartz and McG are behind this, lending more cache.

3. “Cavemen,” ABC, Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Of course, this GEICO-commercial-inspired series got plenty of attention pre-press-tour, which was amped up when the network decided to re-cast parts of the show and to air the original pilot later in the season. (Signs of concern on ABC’s part?) The pilot, in fact, is pretty lame – social satire far wide of its mark – featuring three latter-day “Cro-Maggers” just trying to fit into Atlanta society.

4. “Kid Nation,” CBS, Wednesdays at 8 p.m. This is the kind of buzz you probably don’t want: ill-disguised critical scorn even before the show gets on the air. Credit that to the format (no pilot for preview) featuring 40 children living in an abandoned New Mexico ghost town for 40 days. All sorts of questions were asked about child labor laws, and whether the town was really a “ghost.”

5. “Pushing Daisies,” ABC, Wednesdays at 8 p.m. One of the great over-the-top pilots of the new season, “Daisies” is so visually distinct, so curiously bizarre, so intermittently morbid that this could be the most talked-about show of the new season. Ned (Lee Pace) touches dead things and brings them back to life, and – one can imagine – the practical applications for this talent are enormous. Big stars also abound (Chi McBride, Swoosie Kurtz, Anna Friel).

R&B star Usher has moved to dismiss suggestions that his planned wedding to his girlfriend is off.The Grammy award-winner cancelled his wedding on Saturday, prompting reports that his relationship with Tameka Foster had broken down.

But speaking briefly to US Weekly magazine the star, who has also appeared on screen and stage, suggested the wedding would be rescheduled.

“As of right now we don’t have a date but we will let you know when we do,” Usher said as he and his partner arrived in Manhattan.

Following the cancellation, rumours circulated that Usher’s pregnant girlfriend had been rushed to hospital after experiencing problems, but the 28-year-old singer moved to allay fears.

“Everybody’s fine. Tameka and the baby are fine,” he said.

The couple arrived hand-in-hand at the Mandarin Oriental in New York yesterday and when asked how she was feeling by a reporter, Tameka said: “We’re good. We’re all doing great now.”

The Lohan Family Needs Help

293lohansbest051007.jpg

A Long Island judge yesterday ordered the wacky parents of Hollywood hell-raiser Lindsay Lohan to see a shrink.Dina and Michael Lohan must undergo individual psychological counseling to determine if he should have visitation rights to their youngest children, Aliana, 13, and Dakota, 10.

As for their daughter Lindsay, 21, Dina Lohan said, “She’s getting the help she needs.”

Fresh from an extended stay in rehab, the “Mean Girls” actress relapsed last week, allegedly getting into a drunken car chase with an ex-assistant’s mom. California cops also found cocaine in the Long Island native’s pocket.

Despite Lindsay’s latest film, “I Know Who Killed Me,” bombing at the box office this weekend, Dina Lohan was confident her daughter’s troubles won’t derail her screen career.

“Not at all,” she told reporters outside Nassau County Family Court. Lindsay’s father was less upbeat. “The [movie] industry certainly doesn’t help,” he said. “Success doesn’t help.” He called the $40,000-a-month Malibu, Calif., rehab center his daughter was in “a country club” that doesn’t work.

“She needs to get out of Hollywood,” he said of Lindsay, to whom he has not spoken in months. “She needs to be on Long Island with her family and just have us around her like she did when she did her best.”

In a sign their bitter child-custody feud may be thawing, Michael Lohan withdrew his request for an order to force his estranged wife to be drug-tested.

“I just want things to move on in a positive direction,” said Michael Lohan, explaining why he scrapped the drug-screening request. He previously suggested that Dina Lohan’s drinking and his drug use may have contributed to the substance abuse problems plaguing Lindsay.

“There should never have been an order,” Dina Lohan snapped when asked of her ex-husband’s drug-testing flip-flop.

A born-again Christian since doing a 20-month prison stretch for assault, Michael Lohan would only blame himself for his daughter’s problems.

“I won’t comment on anybody else,” he said. “I’ve made mistakes in my life that surely affected Linsday. I have turned it around and she can too.”

The Lohans’ 19-year-old son, Michael, was not part of yesterday’s proceedings.

I could have said that in the start of all this..

Little Man in Big Trouble

Gary Coleman, best known for his role in the TV series Diff’rent Strokes, was cited with a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct last Friday. The citation came after an argument between Coleman and his girlfriend, Shannon Price.A police report states that, “Coleman was yelling and pounding his steering wheel for approximately ten minutes before he jumped out of his truck…stopping several cars.”

Police say the argument may have been a domestic dispute. Documents state that “Coleman was yelling that he could not take it anymore.”

According to the police report, Coleman and Price had their dispute in the parking lot of the Central Utah Clinic. Price told police, “She felt threatened… as Coleman started to drive his truck when she was halfway in it. She was afraid that Coleman was going to leave her.”

Coleman’s statement to police was, “I was going to leave permanently by driving away, but Price got caught in the open passenger door. I have to learn it’s always the guy’s fault, no matter what.”

Who knew he had a girlfriend.. That’s sweet..

Another Spears Offspring?

54dsep4.jpg

Jamie Lynn Spears looks like a miniature version of her big sister Britney – and she’s starting to act like her too. Jamie Lynn recently suspected that she was about to become a young mother herself, though at 16, she’s several years younger than Britney was when she had her first child.According to Australian tabloid NW, Jamie Lynn believed she was pregnant with her boyfriend Casey Aldridge’s child earlier this month. Worried about her future, Jamie Lynn turned to Britney for help. An insider tells NW, “Britney told Jamie Lynn she’d help her with anything she needed. She promised to keep her secret and not say anything.”

Of course, Britney’s estranged mother Lynne was not pleased that her younger daughter was turning to her older one. She took Jamie Lynn out of Britney’s influence and back to Louisiana where Jamie Lynn took several pregnancy tests.

Luckily, the results were negative, but, one source says, “This whole pregnancy scare has really stressed Lynne out.” Another snitch agreed, stating, “[Lynne] sees Jamie Lynn as a rising star, a protégée to Britney who’ll go on to a big career. Now, she’s worried Jamie Lynn’s trashing herself, turning into a carbon copy of her big sister. [The pregnancy] could wreck [her] career.”

Please letthis girl.. not get preggs… We don’t need another Britney… I thought she would actually be the good one…
