Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin have been chosen to co-host the Oscars next year.

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are joining forces to co-host the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, the telecast’s producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman said Tuesday.

Doubling down on comedy, the producers said, “Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past, and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event.”

As a solo act, Martin hosted the Oscars in 2001 and 2003, earning an Emmy nomination for his first turn at-bat. He’s also been a presenter on a number of occasions including this year, when he appeared with Tina Fey to hand out a trophy.

Baldwin has appeared as a presenter, most recently in 2004 when he was nominated as best supporting actor for his appearance in “The Cooler.”

These two are bound to bring us a lot of laughs. I think they will make a great team, expect a lot of dry humor.

The Oscars hosts have been announced.  Yes, I did say hosts.  This year we get double the fun!  Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are set to co-host the 2010 Oscars. How fun is that?!

Producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman stated,

“We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars. Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event.”

Steve Martin is already working on his jokes asfter the news was announced,

“I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin.”

Alec Baldwin seems pretty pleased with the idea as well,

“I’m thrilled to be hosting the Oscars. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime.”

The Oscars will be on March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood…..that’s just about 4 months away.  I think this is going to be a great show. How about you?  Are you excited for Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin to host the Oscars?

One of my favorite moments of the Golden Globes last night was Tina Fey’s acceptance speech for Actress In A TV Comedy Series. It was real and raw (and I wonder how drunk she was, it seemed like the 30 Rock people had a lot of fun at the Golden Globes last night).

After thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press she said…

“I really know how very lucky I am to have the year that I have had this year. And if you ever start to feel too good about yourself, they have this thing called the Internet, and you can find a lot of people there who don’t like you. I’d like to address some of them now,”

And she went on to tell her critics to “Suck it.”

I tracked down the real people who she mentioned. They are from the forum The Envelope at the LA Times website. One of the girls that Tina mentioned dianefan answered Tina back by saying this…

I’m famous. She mentioned BabsonLacrosse too. Sorry Tina Fey but I still don’t think you deserved to win.

Seriously, this is the best. You can’t even write this stuff. Congratulations Tina, you complete me!

Hollywood must be getting really boring and for these older talented actors. Alec Baldwin admits he wants to try something new besides acting and screaming with his daughter.

“There’s other things I want to do [besides acting],” Baldwin told 60 Minutes. “There’s no age limit on running for office, to a degree. [It is] something I might do one day.”

It is not the first time the actor has expressed his desire to swap tinsel town for Capitol Hill.

In 2006 he told the New York Times that if he were a public official he would like to be governor of his home state of New York.

When asked about the “incident” of calling his daughter a “thoughtless little pig”, Alec says he was concerned with his daughter for the humiliation he made her go through.

“If you go through the things I have gone through with the media like this thing with my daughter, there’s only one thing that comes to mind initially - that is how my daughter must have felt to have this played out in public,” he admitted.

I guess Alec must have thought of that before… even if it wasn’t out there for everyone to hear, it would damage a girl’s self esteem when her own father says it!

TMZ has acquired a tape of Alec Baldwin’s verbally abusive message to his 11-year-old daughter in which, among other things, he calls her a “thoughtless little pig”.

After hearing a tape of the disturbing voicemail, the Los Angeles County Superior Court has temporarily suspended Baldwin’s visitation rights. 

Equally disturbing is this statement released to the TV show Extra by Baldwin’s spokesperson: “In the best interest of the child, Alec will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing…keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order.  The mother and her lawyer leaked this sealed material in violation of a court order.  Although Alec acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years.”

Seriously?  That’s his defense?  I think some of the boys from the trailer park need to pay ole Alec a visit and “straighten him out on this issue”
