Jordin Sparks Puts The “Spark” In Sparkle!

Jordin Sparks
American Idol alum Jordin Sparks went for the full-on sparkle when she hosted a Labor Day party at Bare Pool Lounge at the Mirage in Las Vegas.  Her silver mini dress was all shimmer and shine, with a little bit of sheer too.  But enough alliteration:  the point is that she looked fabulous.

Jordin’s scheduled to perform today (September 4) at the Muscular Dystrophy Association‘s annual fundraising telethon.   The telethon takes place at the South Point Hotel, just down the road from the Mirage.   Jordin has a very charitable heart; she’s been involved in a number of causes ranging from fighting cancer to post-earthquake assistance for Haiti.  Go girl!

Jordin Sparks Looks Fabulous For The Cause: Ogilvy Cares Cancer Gala (Photos)

American Idol Jordin Sparks was the guest of honor at the inaugural Ogilvy Cares Cancer Gala, held aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid in New York (June 1).

Jordin looked smashing in a navy blue dress with three-quarter sleeves and nude peep-toe pumps.

Ogilvy Cares is an organization of employees of monster marketing communications firm Ogilvy & Mather.  Its mission is to support Ogilvy employees who have been affected by cancer, raise awareness of the disease, and support other cancer charities.    The gala, while unfortunately named (can’t a mar-com firm do better than that?), honored Best Doctors and Aetna for their efforts to fight cancer, with proceeds benefiting CancerCare, a nonprofit providing free, professional support to anyone affected by cancer.

‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ Star Nikki Reed Is Engaged To Paul McDonald

Twilight star Nikki Reed flashed her bling on the carpet at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards and announced her engagement to American Idol‘s Paul McDonald.

The two were hand-holding and awfully cuddly as Reed was sporting a new ring. When asked about it and the couple’s future she replied “He’s the one. He’s the one.”

McDonald, who came in 8th place on this year’s AI, met the Breaking Dawn star at the Red Riding Hood premiere and didn’t know who she was at the time.

To up the so-cute ante, Reed says McDonald has been writing lots of music with her as his muse. Too darn cute.

Beyonce Debuts ‘Run The World (Girls)’ Video On American Idol

Beyonce takes the apocalyptic trend and spins it with a dance/pop beat, a host of fierce females dancing and lots of animals for her latest video “Run The World (Girls).”

The first single off her upcoming fourth album titled, appropriately 4, Queen B strikes again with a series of energetic and aggressive dance numbers while wearing a number of eye-popping frocks.

Bey leads off the Francis Lawrence-directed video on a horse and commands her fashionable and scantily-dressed gals with the determination of the Warrior Queen as they face off against an army of guys in riot gear.

‘American Idol’ Top 6 Shocker – Who Goes Home Tonight

American Idol fans were in for a shocker as host Ryan Seacrest told the audience on tonight’s elimination show.

The Top 6 were whittled down to a Top 5 after last night’s performances from the Carole King catalog.

The remaining contestants opened the show with a medley of King’s songs and then the excruciating wait for who lives to sing another day on the A.I. stage began.

Haley Reinhart, Casey Abrams, Scotty McCreery, Jacob Lusk, James Durbin and Lauren Alania all look uncomfortable as Seacrest changes it up a bit and said there are no bottom three and the ones told they were safe were random.

So who got the boot?

Highlight the text to find out: Casey Abrams is out and does not make into the Top 5 next week!

Steven Tyler: Sober, Wacky And Fun On ‘American Idol’

After Paula Abdul left American Idol, there wasn’t that crazy, slightly off-kilter but totally fun personality on the show anymore. Nothing against Kara DiGuardi or Ellen DeGeneres, who were great and are likeable but it wasn’t the same.

Enter this season with Steven Tyler and that sense of you-have-to-watch-so-you-don’t-miss-what-he-says-next is back.

The Aerosmith frontman tells this week’s People magazine he’s got a lot of nervous energy to burn.

“If you think going out in front of high-def cameras and millions of people I’m not high on adrenaline, you’re crazy,” Tyler tells the mag.

In is own weird way, he says he is perfectly sober – except for the fact that huffs Jennifer Lopez.

“I’m stoned when that curtain drops,” adds Tyler, 63. “I just don’t snort the curtain dropping. I don’t snort J. Lo either, though I do breathe her in.”

Check out more from Steven in this issue, on sale Friday.

Pia Toscano Visits Ellen DeGeneres

Ousted American Idol contestant Pia Toscano is sitting down with Ellen DeGeneres today to talk about her budding ‘friendship’ with Dancing with The Stars professional dancer Mark Ballas.

Ellen: You have the most beautiful voice…I hope everybody is looking at this going, we got to vote for people because I think that people thought you had it made…I think a lot of people thought she’s set.  She has a great voice but I think you are going to have a career. You have such a beautiful voice and now you have a very handsome boyfriend, I understand.
Pia: (Laughing)
Ellen: How is that going?
Pia: I’m really just focusing right now on my music.
Ellen: That’s a good answer.
Pia: I just met him.  He’s a very sweet guy.
Ellen: Yeah, sweet guy. It’s that guy from “DWTS” (Ellen shows photo of Mark Ballas) So you all are hanging out.  That’s great.
Pia: We’re just friends.
Ellen: Uh huh, whatever…

Pia also performs “All in Love is Fair” on the afternoon chat show.

Flash mobs are the premise of the one hour special Mobbed to be hosted by Howie Mandell.

Mandel’s show will film folks who want to surprise loved ones with good news in song and dance. The hour-long program will cover the rehearsals and the actual ‘flash mob style’ number as the recipient receives it with hidden cameras in place to capture the moment.

Fox is giving the show a plum spot on Thursday, March 31st at 9pm following American Idol. The show is currently planned as a one-time special but it is rumored to be in the running for a possible season pick-up.

‘American Idol’ Chris Medina “Breakeven” VIDEO

American Idol had one of the most inspirational singers yet audition last night.

Chris Medina, 26, got the golden ticket to Hollywood after he performed a fantastic version of The Script’s “Breakeven” but his personal story was just as touching.

Medina was 2 months shy of marrying his long time girlfriend, Juliana Ramos when she suffered a traumatic brain injury from a car crash. Their life changed dramatically but Medina stayed by her side.

The three judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson requested to meet Juliana and when Chris brought her out, that is when they told him he earned his shot at stardom.
