Anne Hathaway Wears Sheer Dress To Valentino – And Looks Fabulous

The Valentino Haute Couture fashion show in Paris brought out some of fashion world’s most beautiful people and had a dash of Hollywood glamour as well as Anne Hathaway turned out for the production.

Hathaway, 28, arrived at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild wearing a sheer black Valentino dress with black bodysuit underneath. Anne usually chooses more conservative but chic frocks but she looked fabulous in this light and sexy number.

The Love & Other Drugs star has been prepping for her role as Catwoman in the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises with a lot of physical training.

Hathaway recently told Harper’s Bazaar that she’s discovering working out isn’t just about being skinny.

“I’ve always thought that skinny was the goal, but with this job I also have to be strong,”

Anne Hathaway Talks Oscars, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ For Harper’s Bazaar

Anne Hathaway isn’t letting a little Oscars bad buzz keep her down. While she didn’t get the brunt of the bad reviews that her cohost James Franco received, she tells Harper’s Bazaar that she “doesn’t see a downside” about taking a chance.

“In the grand scheme of things, I got to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she tells Harpers. “I met great people, wore beautiful clothes. And I got to put on a show. I don’t see a downside. Anyone who disliked my personality probably disliked my personality before the Oscars.”

She did say that when Franco described her hosting hustle as ‘a Tasmanian Devil’ to David Letterman, she sent him a few emails to give him a more complimentary thing to say about her next time.

“I let James know that a whirling dervish is a more flattering comparison than a Tasmanian devil. I called him, and we e-mailed a bit.”

Hathaway, 28, comments on her tendency to be a people pleaser and how she’s moving away from that.

“There’s something very addictive about people pleasing,” she says. “It’s a thought pattern and a habit that feels really, really good until it becomes desperate. It’s one of the reasons that relationship ended. I wasn’t able to grow or foster anything. I think a lot of girls have that story. It’s a big moment when you step away from that and say, ‘I’m going to be exactly who I am. And I’m going to be brave enough to only be with someone who wants me the way I am.’”

Anne’s taking on the iconic role of Catwoman in the next Batman film The Dark Knight Rises. Julie Newmar, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Eartha Kitt have all donned the sexy suit and seductively purred their way into the collective memory of movie goers around the world so how is Hathaway taking on the role? With an intense physical preparation.

She has been working out five days a week — rigorous exercise and stunt training followed by an hour and a half of dance. “I’ve always thought that skinny was the goal, but with this job I also have to be strong,” she says. Anne has always been slim, but if you look at clips of her in her early 20s, when she made The Devil Wears Prada and Brokeback Mountain — films that first gave a clue of her dramatic range — the difference is she stands taller now and with more confidence.

The Hathaway issue is on sale July 12th.

Anne Hathaway & Colin Firth At 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Academy Awards host Anne Hathaway and Oscar winner Colin Firth head inside to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party at the Sunset Tower in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 27th.

Reviews of Hathaway’s performance as host on the 83rd Annual Academy Awards have been mixed but most lean toward the favorable (unlike her co-host, James Franco, who is being panned for his efforts.)

Firth, who won the Best Actor trophy, gave a great acceptance speech for his part at the end of the night. The King’s Speech actor made light of being nervous and said:

“I’m afraid I have to warn you that I’m experiencing stirrings somewhere in the upper abdominals which are threatening to form themselves into dance moves,” he joked. “Joyous as they may be for me, it would be extremely problematic if they make it to my legs before I get offstage.”

Vanity Fair 17th Annual Hollywood Issue 2011 PHOTO

Vanity Fair’s Annual Hollywood Issue cover is upon us. The March 2011 cover shot by Norman Jean Roy, features some of the hottest names in movies right now. The mag proclaims: “Vanity Fair went back to the basics—no teenagers, no penguins, no (full-on) nudity, just the most exciting actors and actresses of the moment.”

But once again, it’s a pretty white bread deal. The four actors on the front cover are (left to right) Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

The rest of ‘Hot Hollywood’ featured after the fold out are (left to right following Franco,) Jennifer Lawrence, Anthony Mackie, Olivia Wilde, Jesse Eisenberg, Mila Kunis, Robert Duvall, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Andrew Garfield, Rashida Jones, Garrett Hedlund and Noomi Rapace (see the larger/full photo under.)

This is mainstream Hollywood at it’s finest, which I guess is exactly what you buy VF for. The only two actors of color (Mackie and Jones) do not make the front and the only older actor (over 35) Duvall is hidden in the back like they were ashamed to include him.

Vanity Fair has come under fire for it’s white, white and more white focus in the past years, but what do you think? Is it the magazine’s fault or Hollywood in general for only casting white?

This issue goes on sale in New York and Los Angeles February 3rd and then nationally on February 8th.

Anne Hathaway to Play Catwoman in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Anne Hathaway has been cast for the role of Selina Kyle (Catwoman) in The Dark Knight Rises. She joins Tom Hardy who is set to play Bane in the film.

Warner Bros. announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in the third Christopher Nolan Batman film.  In comic book lore, Kyle is also known as Catwoman.

In a statement from the studio, Nolan said, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

In addition, the studio announced Tom Hardy, who appeared in Nolan’s Oscar contender “Inception,” has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”

The cast is coming together and this movie is becoming more and more of a reality. I can’t wait to see how this one is going to turn out. For those who don’t know, the character Bane broke Batman’s back in the comics, turning him into a paraplegic. Would Christopher Nolan be brave enough to have that happen at the end of The Dark Knight Rises? This is going to be Nolan’s last entry in his Batman trilogy, that would be a great way to dramatically end it while making sure another sequel is never made!

Anne Hathaway Is Getting ‘Glee’ful

After a successful pitch like this, Anne Hathaway may want to try her hand at writing a screenplay next.

While the actress was doing promotional rounds in November with Jake Gyllenhaal for Love and Other Drugs, Hathaway proposed to the press the idea of her guest starring on Glee and she had it all worked out.

She would play Kurt Hummel’s (Chris Colfer) lesbian aunt who helps him and counsels him through his difficult time. And of course sings! Hathaway already had chosen the song: “Children Will Listen” from the musical Into The Woods.

On Sunday night (January 17th) at the Golden Globes Hathaway gave the idea to show creator Ryan Murphy directly.

“I just ran into Anne Hathaway, who has created her own role,” said Murphy, explaining that “on her way to the bathroom” the actress pitched him on a guest gig.

“She presented the whole episode. She came up with the songs,” said Murphy.

Murphy took the bait and now Hathaway is headed to the Hummel household.

Colfer, who just won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Show Musical/Comdey, has said that Hathaway and Julie Andrews were his dream guest stars. Colfer got his wish!

Anne Hathaway Fears Judy Garland Fans For New Bio Picture

Taking on a legend with legions of fans is a daunting task for any actor or actress. Anne Hathaway is feeling the immense pressure as she prepares to star as Judy Garland in a long awaited bio pic of the legendary Wizard of Oz star.

Hathaway says that everyone involved is taking their time and working hard to “get it right,” but just how does she and the director portray someone like Garland, with her incredible voice?

“I certainly don’t sing like Judy Garland but the talk is to have me do the singing. But I think people might cry murder if they don’t get to hear Judy’s beloved voice so the talk is for me to sing but I don’t know if that’s exactly what will happen.

“It’s a very sensitive project and there have been so many stories told about her life that we’re really trying to get it right.”

It’s a tough call – have Anne sing or dub in Judy’s voice. Fans can be so extreme and it is a tough line to walk – pleasing the fans and telling a truthful story.

If Hathaway is a decent singer, I think she should be the one you ulitmately hear; after all it is a biography, not an autobiography.
