This week’s highlight has to be Battle: Los Angeles, with a great cast and a crazy alien invasion it’s definitely one to rent. Hopefully you didn’t waste money seeing it in the theater. The other big release this week is the new comedy Hall Pass, and of course who can forget Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.

‘Hangover Part II’ May Get Tattoo Removal Before DVD Release

The Hangover Part II has been plagued by a lawsuit from the tattoo artist who did Mike Tyson‘s facial tattoo. His original plan was to stop the release of the movie, that didn’t happen. But now, there’s a good chance Ed Helm‘s facial tattoo in the movie will be digitally altered to look totally different before it’s released on Blu-ray and DVD this holiday season!

When The Hangover Part II comes to Blu-ray and DVD in December, a major running joke could be totally different. There is an ongoing lawsuit between between Warner Bros. and tattoo artist S. Victor Whitmill, the man who designed Mike Tyson‘s famous face tattoo referenced in the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, if the lawsuit isn’t settled, the studio plans to digitally remove Ed Helms‘ Tyson tattoo from the packaging and film itself.

I think it’s crazy that the lawsuit even held any water, much less that it could lead to such a huge alteration to the movie. It’s one of the funniest gags in the movie, largely because of the whole Mike Tyson factor. Really though, if the tattoo is changed, it’s not going to hurt the movie much. They’ll just have to pick something smart as a replacement.

‘Lord of The Rings’ Extended Editions Returning to Theaters in June

The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition trilogy is coming back to theaters in June in the weeks leading up to the Blu-ray release.

AMC, which has been playing a lot of classic films in anticipation ofbig Blu-ray releases, will show the extended editions of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King on consecutive weeks in June, opening on the 14th, 21st and 28th respectively.

As much as I love The Lord of the Rings and own the dvd extended editions, I’m not planning to re-buy them or re-see them in theaters. I see why uber-fans might, but thats a lot more money for movies I’ve already seen many, many times. I’m more excited for The Hobbit, even if it’s over a year off.

Not much happening this week in terms of big releases, but the BBC‘s new series Human Planet is certainly worth checking out. Otherwise everything out this week is pretty small business, look for bigger releases in coming weeks.
