Carrie Underwood is topping charts as usual with her new album’s debut single, Cowboy Cassanova.  It’s the fastest rising hit in country music for 2009.  I can’t wait for her album, Play On to be released on November 3rd!  Less than a month away!

Then on December 7th, Carrie will be headlining her own variety show on FOX.  We will get to hear her do a little bit of everything…songs from Play On, her older stuff, plus Christmas songs.

Dolly Parton, Brad Paisely, and David Cook will be making appearances as well.

This is one show I won’t be missing this Holiday Season!

Though Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, David Cook and Kelly Clarkson have all made millions since being contestants on American Idol, winner Carrie Underwood is raking in the cheddar more than all the others (to the tune of $14 million last year).

Her debut album, Some Hearts, spent 11 weeks in 2007 at the top of the Billboard album charts. Songs from her second effort, Carnival Ride, got massive airplay on both country and adult alternative radio. All told, Underwood has sold 9.6 million albums and 10.7 million digital downloads, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

She has played more than 300 shows since her Idol win. Each performance brings in about $350,000 to be split between Underwood and the concert promoter, according to Pollstar.  Underwood has also supplemented her recording and touring income with sizable product endorsement payments. She avoids the personal meltdowns that afflict other young female celebrities, making her an ideal pitchwoman for consumer products companies. Vitamin Water, owned by Coca-Cola, pays Underwood to endorse its beverages.

While this doesn’t surprise me, it does disappoint me a little. Carrie’s music went from inspirational and uplifting, to being all about lying, cheating, and one-night stands. It’s so middle of the road now. However, David Cook, Kris Allen and Chris Daughtry bring such originality and class to the industry… That’s who deserves all those millions.

The fourth season winner and arguably the most successful contestant to ever come off of American Idol-Carrie Underwood- will be performing on Tuesday night’s season finale results show. She will be showcasing the song we have heard throughout the season as each contestant was eliminated, her version of Motley Crue’s “Home, Sweet Home.“

The songstress will be donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of the digital single to The Humane Society of the United States.

If Kenny Chesney would have left Las Vegas last night with an Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year nod, it would have been his fifth consecutive win; but alas, we have Carrie Underwood, and the most-successful American Idol alum to-date came through with a mighty force.

Country star Carrie Underwood, who is currently single, doesn’t believe in Valentine’s Day but she believes in love and it should be celebrated every day of the year not just on February 14.

“I’m anti-Valentine’s Day,” says the country singer, 25, who just scored her fourth Grammy last Sunday. “I don’t believe – and this goes for anybody – your man shouldn’t love you for one day out of 365. He should love you 365 days out of the year. I want Valentine’s Day every day.”

We have to agree with Carrie on this! Valentine’s is more of another consumerist day than something more profound or this is just another excuse for single people to feel happier about themselves.

But Carrie does have a special man in her life, Ace, her rat terrier. “My little man!” she says. “He’s here with me. We’ll be on a plane together Saturday.” OOH cuteness!!! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!

What does a super-star think of as a perfect Valentine’s Day date? I always wonder what people with millions of dollars find satisfaction in, when they can pretty much have anything. American Idol winner Carrie Underwood recently described her ideal date. I hope her boyfriend, Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher, is listening!

“It’s nice to go out, occasionally, but it’s nice to stay in, too,” KBS radio reported Carrie Underwood as saying. “I’m more of a stay-in, probably, kind of girl and… I’ve never had a guy cook for me. So I think it’d be really awesome if the guy just kind of, you know, put a lot of thought into it… made the atmosphere nice. Maybe light some candles or make some decorations or something to sit around, and make me a good meal, a home-cooked meal.”

“I’m a vegetarian, too, so you’d know, it’d be like he went through some thought and looked up a recipe that he figured I would like, and you know… complete with dessert, of course. I need some chocolate or something sweet. But yeah, and maybe just take in a movie. Something simple, but thought-filled.”

With stuff like this, it really is the thought that counts. Of course luxurious stuff is nice, but if my man puts a lot of thought into a date or a gift, that just means so much more.

I am one of the biggest Carrie Underwood fans out there.  I think she is so super talented and is most definitely the best America Idol winner thus far.  So, of course I think it would be great if she started making guest appearances on TV shows.  In fact, I would love it!

Carrie Underwood isn’t looking to jump-start an acting career, but she wouldn’t mind a guest-starring gig on FOX’s House.

“I love House,” Underwood told me the other night at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy bash. “You know, I’m not an actress, but I think I would like to do something for the fun of it. I usually find when people try to cross over from music to acting or acting to music that one of those two are not very good.”

And speaking of not being very good at something, the American Idol winner says she wasn’t impressed by Katrina “Bikini Girl” Darrell’s unorthodox way of auditioning for the new season of A.I.

“I don’t see why anybody would need to do that,” Underwood said of Darrell’s skimpy beach attire. “If you need to do that, then you’re definitely not in the right business. If you’re good, you could wear a potato sack and people would be OK with you.”

I think Carrie so right!  You can’t be a really good singer and a really good actor.  It’s one or the other Jennifer Lopez.  But, there’s nothing wrong with a few cameos.

Country’s top female artist Carrie Underwood is going to need a lot more shelves for her steadily-growing collection of awards. The most-successful American Idol champ took home awards at last night’s Peoples’ Choice Awards for favorite female singer, country song for “Last Name”, and star under 35.

Other big names who took home trophies in the music categories were Kid Rock (for “All Summer Long”), Rascal Flatts won nods for favorite group, Chris Brown was voted best male singer, and 2008 darling Katy Perry won best pop tune for “I Kissed a Girl”.

No.  Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo have not run off into the sunset together, yet.  But, Jessica is getting the honor of being in the 2008 Cowboys Family Cookbook.  Apparently they are just using whomever the Cowboys’ players are living with at the time for the family affair.  Tony and Jessica contributed two recipes to the book.  Don’t get too excited, we know Jessica can’t cook and these recipes are not going to change that fact.

In the biographical section Simpson lists her occupation as a “hairdresser” and Romo says he’s a “fence builder”.  Tony also confesses that U2, Coldplay, and ACDC” are what he listens to on his iPod.  I guess he’s not a fan of Jessica’s singing?  What?  You mean that Romo doesn’t pump up the volume of Jessica in his ear to get him prepared before a game?!  OR, maybe he made that mistake before he blew this season in a major loss to the Eagles (44-6).  It wouldn’t be the first time Tony Romo was “distracted” by his current girlfriend.   Perhaps Tony should focus on his ‘philosophy’, “Every passing moment is a chance to turn it all around!” in the off season………

American Idol winner and country sensation Carrie Underwood was most recently linked to The Bachelor alum and host of The Doctors, Travis Stork. But now, she is reportedly steaming things up with Mike Fisher, an NHL hockey player.

The rumors began to fly when Carrie Underwood was seen with her hair tied back at a recent Ottawa Senators game. Apparently she was shown on the big Jumbotron screen’s Hug Cam throughout the game as she hugged the two people sitting next to her.

The romance apparently began after Mike Fisher went backstage following Carrie Underwood’s March 21 concert at Scotiabank Place. The couple hit it off, and  began dating some time after their initial meeting.

Mike Fisher has refused to comment on the romance and said, “I can’t comment on anything in my personal life, so that’s about all I can say. I don’t really want to say anything.”

Hopefully this time the romance lasts for Carrie. She is beautiful and humble and deserves the very best!!

The Grammys are showing major love for some former American Idols.

Former American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson and champions Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks were all recognized by The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences when the nominations for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards were announced Wednesday night. Hudson, whose self-titled debut album was released in September, led the Idol alums with three nominations.

In addition the former Idol’s finalists, Leona Lewis, who won the third season of Idol judge Simon Cowell’s The X Factor reality competition in the U.K. in 2006, also received three Grammy nominations.

Congrats to all the nominees and I hope this can bring some joy to Jennifer Hudson in the midst of her tragedy.

Carrie Underwood.  She’s a natural talent.  A natural beauty.  Carrie is an All American girl.  You can’t help but love her.  She is quite the knockout as she graces the cover of Elle Magazine with her angelic face.

Although country music star Carrie Underwood is a good Oklahoma girl at heart, the singer assumed a slightly sexier, urban attitude for her cover shoot with ELLE in New York City. Underwood pulled up to Pier 59 at 8 a.m. wearing jeans, a T-shirt, and black Gucci booties. In a matter of minutes she was converted into a wet-haired goddess inspired by Jennifer Beals in the 1983 hit Flashdance. Although she confessed partiality for ultrafeminine Badgley Mischka gowns for red-carpet events, Underwood also revealed her love of the ’80s, which prompted the styling team to dress her in Fendi shorts and a YSL blazer with nothing underneath. In addition, Underwood wore a simple white tank with gold lamé Michael Kors sultan pants, as she sang along to her favorite band, Guns N’ Roses, playing on repeat in the background. After a lunch of veggies, pasta, and VitaminWater (for which Underwood is a spokesperson), things got risqué on the set as ELLE put the songbird in a body-hugging strapless purple Miu Miu dress layered over a racer-back bodysuit. Just after, Underwood peeked at a few shots on photographer Alexei Hay’s computer. She couldn’t help but applaud the transformation.

There is so much more in this issue of Elle.  you just have read the whole thing and get a piece of Carrie.  When I met Carrie a few years ago, I was very impressed at how real she was and how she knows she puts her pants on the same as you and me.  Carrie is a cool chick and I am enjoying watching her succeed in everytihing she does.

Country music award season voters apparently didn’t get the memo that now’s the time for change as there was no difference when it came to the king’s chair last night for the 42nd annual Country Music Assn. Awards in Nashville.  Kenny Chesney took home the top award for entertainer of the year for the fourth consecutive year.

Continuing their reigns as top male and top female performer of the year were Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, while the iconic George Strait won album of the year for his impressive Troubadour.

There were touching moments, like Carrie Underwood singing the tragic war ballad “Just a Dream” after saying “Mom it’s real hard to sing when you’re in the second row crying” from the podium.

Newcomer, trio Lady Antebellum took a trophy home for best new artist, while Sugarland was recognized as the vocal duo of the year.

Youngins Taylor Swift and Kellie Pickler both performed, which unquestionably assure that whether you’re a fan of country music or not, this is a genre that’s climbing in sales.
