Comedian Martin Lawrence and his wife Shemicka Gibbs have announced that they are ending their marriage. The couple, who have been married for just two years but together for 17, released a statement noting their “joint decision to part ways.”

There don’t seem to be any hard feelings, at least from what they’re sharing.  Lawrence and Gibbs say they’ll keep things civil for the sake of their two girls, Amara (9) and Iyana (11).   Their statement continued:

“Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together.”

Shemicka is Lawrence’s second wife; he has a daughter, Jasmine (16), from his marriage to Patricia Southall.

It’s the end of the road for one of Hollywood’s cutest couples.

Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth announced they are splitting after 11 years of marriage.

The Twilight Breaking Dawn actor and Beverly Hills, 90210 alum released a statement through their reps:

“While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children. We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time,” People reports.

There is speculation that Facinelli, 38, may have had an affair, ending their union.

“Peter had been seeing another woman for quite some time,” Perez Hilton quotes a source as saying about the split. “They tried to make it work for the sake of their children and Jennie played housewife for as long as she could but finally had enough.”

No other parties have come forward and identified themselves as the “other woman” so it’s also possible Garth and Facinelli just grew apart.

Facinelli and Garth, 39, met in 1996 and married in 2001. They have three daughters: Luca, 14, Lola, 9, and Fiona, 5 years-old.

Facinelli will return to Showtime’s Nurse Jackie for the fourth season and has The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 opening later this year.

Turns out third time was not a charm for Dennis Quaid:  his wife Kimberly Buffington-Quaid has filed for divorce after eight years of marriage.

Why?  It seems they just don’t get along.  Kimberly’s petition gave this reason as the Grounds For Divorce:

“The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities between [Kimberly] and [Dennis] that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”

The couple will share custody of their twins, Thomas and Zoe, who are four years old.    Kimberly, a former real estate agent, has requested spousal support.

Dennis was previously married to actress P.J. Soles from 1978 to 1983.  He and Meg Ryan were married from 1991 to 2001; they have one son together, Jack Henry.

Looks like the rumors were unfortunately true: Hollywood power couple Heidi Klum and Seal are ending their marriage. They made the following statement on Sunday:

“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate.

“We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.

“We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”

It’s a very civilized statement, but the current buzz is that Klum just can’t deal with Seal’s bad temper anymore, especially its effects on their children, Leni (7), Henry (6), Johan (5) and Lou (2).  Other sources say that she’s tired of all the partying he does while he’s on tour.  And then again, there’s always that pesky little seven year itch…

The couple were known for renewing their wedding vows each year on their anniversary.  They had just done so in May 2011, in Palm Beach, Florida.

Well, that was fast.  Mena Suvari is divorcing her husband of just 18 months, Simone Sestito.

Suvari filed papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, January 13, citing irreconcilable differences.  She lists their date of separation as November 1, 2011.

The couple were married in Rome in June 2010 after a two year engagement.

Despite rumors that Katy Perry wanted Russell Brand to be the one to file for divorce, the singer is telling friends that she is “devastated” that their marriage is ending. 

HollywoodLife.com says Perry “still loves” Brand and is in a bit of shock.  Their sources say:

“Katy never thought in a million years that she would get divorced, she really planned to spend her life with Russell.  She is grieving her marriage and is at a point in her life where she doesn’t know what’s next.

[She] still can’t believe that it’s over.  She knew things were bad but she figured they’d work through it. Katy has been going through a bunch of emotions and she’s really leaning on her friends right now. She’s not herself.”

Other reports claim that Brand’s clean living lifestyle – he’s a recovered addict – became a problem for Perry, who “loved to party.”

Just a few short weeks ago, Russell Brand shot down rumors that he and wife Katy Perry were breaking up.  Looks like there was something to that gossip after all, however:  he filed for divorce in Los Angeles today.

Rumors of the couple’s split began flying this week when they were spotted spending the Christmas holiday apart.  Later, Brand was seen in London without his wedding ring.

Brand issued the following statement to People:

“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage.  I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

Brand and Perry were married in India in October 2010.

Sinead O’Connor and Barry Herridge have already called it quits – just days after their Las Vegas wedding at the beginning of December.

The 45 year-old singer revealed her split from Herridge on her website and told a British publication she realized it was doomed shortly after exchanging vows.

“It felt like I was living in a coffin. It was going to be a coffin for both of us and I saw him crushed,” O’Connor told The Sun. “The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man.”

Among the problems that came to light for the couple was that O’Connor took her newlywed husband to buy weed – and he’s a drug counselor.

“We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous. I wasn’t scared — but he’s a drugs counselor. What was I thinking?” she said. “Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened — that kind of messed everything up a bit really.”

The “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer decided she needed to end the union to the 38 year-old, which took place on December 8th at the Little White Wedding Chapel.

“The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man,” O’Connor said.

O’Connor also said she won’t marry again and that she doesn’t think she “will even date anyone” else now.

This was the fourth marriage for Sinead.

American Idol Ruben Studdard has filed for divorce from Surata Zuri McCants, his wife of three years.

Studdard and McCants met at a WalMart store in Atlanta when he was signing CDs.  They were married in 2008 in Birmingham, Alabama.

His representative issued the following statement:

“Ruben and Zuri have gone their separate ways.”

Studdard’s petition cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Demi Moore is filing for divorce from her husband of six years, Ashton Kutcher.

The 49 year-old actress released a statement:

“As a woman, a mother and a wife, there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life,” she said.

After news broke of Kutcher’s alleged affair with 23 year-old coed Sara Leal, Moore and Kutcher have spent time working on their marriage, including a camping trip with a Kabbalah instructor and time at Demi’s ex-husband Bruce Willis‘ vacation home in the Turks and Caicos.

“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail,” Kutcher tweeted.
