Hot couple Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis are preparing for a walk down the aisle.  The pair, who have been dating for a little over a year, got engaged “just after the holidays,” says People.

Wilde and Sudeikis first hooked up in November 2011.  Each has been married once before:  he to television and film writer Kay Cannon (2004-2010), she to Italian prince Tao Ruspoli (2003-2011).

 May the matrimonial force be with them: Star Wars creator and über-philanthropist George Lucas is engaged to his longtime love Mellody Hobson.

The engagement was confirmed by Lucas’ rep to The Hollywood Reporter. No wedding date has been announced.

Hobson is the president of Chicago-based Ariel Investments, one of the largest African-American owned money management firms in the United States. She is also the chairperson of the related company Ariel Mutual Funds, as well as the chair for Dreamworks Animation. She is an occasional contributor on financial issues to Good Morning America.

Lucas and Hobson have dated since 2006. This will be her first marriage and his second; from 1969 to 1983 Lucas was married to Marcia Lou Griffin, a film editor who would win an Academy Award for her work on Star Wars: A New Hope. Lucas and Griffin adopted a daughter, Amanda (31), during their marriage. He has since adopted two other children, Katie (24) and Jett (19).

Kelly Clarkson has a lot to sing about these days – she got engaged over the weekend!  The lucky man is Brandon Blackstock, the son of her manager, Narvel Blackstock.  (Bonus bit of trivia:  Brandon’s stepmom is Reba McEntire.)   The pair have been together for about a year, but have known each other for quite some time.

The American Idol winner announced her happy news on Twitter, and also posted a photo of her engagement ring, saying:

Everyone has been asking about my engagement ring, so here it is It’s a yellow canary diamond with diamonds around it and Brandon designed it with Johnathon Arndt! They did an amazing job!

Yellow diamonds have become increasingly popular, as have colored diamonds in general.  Carrie Underwood‘s husband, Mike Fisher, proposed with a yellow diamond ring (also by Johnathon Arndt, as it happens); Charlie Sheen gave an 11 carat whopper to Brooke Mueller when they got engaged in 2007.

This will be Kelly’s first marriage and Brandon’s second.  He has two children from his first marriage.

Kelly’s newest album, a collection of greatest hits (simply titled “Greatest Hits – Chapter One“), was released last month.

What would Kat Von D and Deadmau5 do without Twitter?  About a month ago, they broke up on Twitter, then a few days later they got back together on Twitter.  This weekend, they got engaged on Twitter.    Deadmau5 (real name Joel Zimmerman) posted this romantic tweet:

I can’t wait for Christmas so…. Katherine Von Drachenberg, will you marry me?

Accompanying the post was this photo of the engagement ring the electronic music producer has designed for his bride to be:

The ring features a large center diamond flanked by two skulls.  The text reads:

“Changing the diamond to a black diamond FYI.  Sorry for the jpg…theyll finish the actual ring soon I hope.  I love you ”

Kat’s initial response was simple:  “!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”  Then she posted:

Mi corazon!!! Thank you all for the lovely congratulations! Please excuse me while I go squeeze the hell out of my fiancé! ❤

Which sounds like they were in the vicinity of each other, no?  Which begs the question:  why did Deadmau5 propose via Twitter?

Kat was married to tattoo artist Oliver Peck from 2003-2007.  She dated Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx for a couple of years, and then hooked up with – and got engaged to – bad boy Jesse James, who reportedly cheated on her with 19 different women.  They too had an on-again, off-again relationship, the only difference being that their indecisiveness was broadcast on Facebook instead of Twitter.   Deadmau5 was previously linked with Playboy Playmate Lindsey Evans.

We’ll have to wait and see whether this engagement sticks.   Congratulations for now, I guess.

90210 actress Shenae Grimes has a little more reason to make merry this holiday season:  her boyfriend of nine months, Josh Beech, popped the question, and of course she said yes.

Grimes announced her engagement to Beech, a male model who hails from England, on her website.  She said:

I’m a very happy lady indeed and all the warm wishes are well appreciated! We plan to keep our special day very private and we hope everyone can respect that.

Beech has been active in modeling for several years.  He has appeared in ads for H&M, Just Cavalli, Burberry and John Galliano.  Congratulations to these two lovebirds!

Hugh Hefner is a forgiving man.  After Crystal Harris left the Playboy mogul at the altar last June, he was devastated.  Time must heal all wounds, because he’s decided to give it one more try.    Harris moved back into the Playboy mansion this spring, with #1 girl status, and the couple are once again reportedly engaged.

Harris recently posted a photo of a blue topaz and diamond ring to Instagram, which she disclaimed as “not that kind of ring.”  However, she did just change her name there to crystalhefner….   Speaking of rings, she is going to need one, because she sold her first engagement ring, priced at $90,000, for about half of what it was worth.    I’m not sure I could marry someone who did that to me.  Not that the money matters at all to Hef, just the symbolism of it all would be too terrible.   But he’s in looooove again.   Half of HIS Twitter feed is him just retweeting all the silly stuff she posts.

Anyway, they’re supposedly getting married on New Year’s Eve, with just close friends and family present.   We’ll see what happens.

Their relationship began with serious scandal, but it looks like they’re headed for a happy ending:  Journey guitarist Neal Schon and Michaele Salahi (Real Housewives of D.C.) got engaged over the weekend.

Schon asked Salahi to come onstage about halfway through their Baltimore show benefiting the Johns Hopkins Hospital‘s Kimmel Cancer Center. He proposed (with a diamond that was reportedly delivered by armored truck), she said yes, and the band launched into their ballad “Faithfully.”   So romantic.  So public!

Salahi and Schon’s relationship first became public last year when her then-husband, Tareq Salahi, told police that she had been abducted.  In fact, she had gone groupie, heading to Nashville and Memphis with Schon and the band.  Tareq Salahi filed for divorce not long after; he also later sued his ex-wife for $50 million in reality TV “wages” lost when they split up.

The Salahis got their first 15 minutes of fame in 2009 when they successfully crashed a state dinner at the White House.

Schon has five children and has been married five times previously, to Tena Austin (1976), Beth Buckley (1987), Dina Gioeli (1993), Amber Kozan (2001), and former Playboy Playmate Ava Fabian (2011).  He evidently married Fabian while he and Salahi were in the midst of an affair; it’s unclear whether their divorce has been finalized.

So much for “Faithfully”!  Good luck, Michaele!

It’s been nearly two months since Justin Theroux popped the question to Jennifer Aniston, and we finally (FINALLY!) got a glimpse of her engagement ring.  The star was snapped sharing a sweet moment in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her fiance, but the HUGE DIAMOND on her finger nearly eclipses the whole scene!

That is one big rock; sources say it’s probably close to 8 carats.  And that’s one of the reasons the internet is all abuzz over it.  Many are saying it’s too big, heinous, tacky, ugly, hideous, gaudy, horrible, fake, obnoxious.  It looks like a piece of candy, an ice cube, like it came from a Cracker Jack box or a vending machine.   And that’s just the comments on one story.   Well, you know what they say about opinions.

The other, more interesting viewpoint out there, posited by Kiri Blakeley at The Stir as well as others, is that the bride to be took matters into her own hands and bought herself this little bauble.  Kiri’s position:  Theroux does not generate any kind of paycheck to support this kind of purchase.  He acts, he writes, he directs… but with an estimated net worth of $120M, Aniston is clearly the bigger breadwinner of the relationship.   Now to be fair, his net worth is estimated at $10.5M, no small pile of beans, so I’m sure if he wanted to, he could find a spare $500,000 lying around to buy his girl a big ol’ diamond.

Guy Ritchie is making an honest woman of his girlfriend, the beautiful model Jacqui Ainsley.  The British pair are engaged to be married.

Ritchie and Ainsley have been together for over two years.  This will be her first marriage and his second; his first marriage, to Madonna, ended bitterly in 2008.  (I would think having been married to Madge would scare anyone off of marriage, so good for him for giving it another go.)  They have one child together, a one-year old son named Rafael.  Ainsley is currently pregnant with their second child, due later this year.  Ritchie has two children from his marriage to Madonna, Rocco and David.

America’s sweetheart is getting another chance at happily ever after.

For Justin Theroux‘s 41st birthday celebration he had something special in mind for girlfriend Jennifer Aniston.

“Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage,” his rep confirmed to People magazine.

This comes on the heels of tabloid reports last week that said the couple broke up because Aniston wanted marriage and Theroux didn’t.

Aniston and Theroux met in 2007 on the set of Tropic Thunder, where he was a screenwriter. The two later became costars filming Wanderlust in 2010 and started dating in the late spring of 2011.

The 43 year-old actress’ love life has been tabloid fodder since her 2005 breakup with then husband Brad Pitt, who left her for his Mr. & Mrs. Smith costar Angelina Jolie. The split spawned an intense scrutiny of her, Pitt and Jolie and started the “Team Aniston” and “Team Jolie” trend.
