Florence Welch At 2012 Costume Ball & Met Gala

Florence Welch wore an avant garde, fashion-forward look to the “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” 2012 Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 7th.

The lead singer of Florence + The Machine chose a tiered, poufy, frilly look from Alexander McQueen.

The champagne colored, layered and embroidered dress with plunging sweetheart neckline and sheer overlay was a true high-fashion moment at the event.

Welch completed the look with a Sound of Music like braid, McQueen skull knuckle clutch and armadillo heels.

Not everyone will like this look but Florence is true to her own style and she chose a dress appropriate for a fashion shindig.

Charlize Theron Wows In Daring Little Black Dress

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron was in Las Vegas on Thursday night to accept the Distinguished Decade Of Achievement In Film Award from CinemaCon.  She wore a shoulder-baring little black dress with illusion panels by Dion Lee, and looked pretty dang fab.

CinemaCon is an annual convention for operators and owners of movie theaters.  The organization explained why Theron was selected for the honor:

“Over the past decade, Charlize Theron has proven that as an actor, she can do it all. Whether her role be comedic or dramatic, she never ceases to entertain audiences with her unique ability to capture the essence of any character. Her thought-provoking, engaging and riveting performances have garnered her critical acclaim and multiple awards and nominations.”

In other words, people buy tickets to see her movies.  With two movies opening this June, there will be ample opportunities for theater owners to cash in on Theron’s success.  She plays the Queen in Snow White And The Huntsman, opening June 1.  She also appears in the science fiction flick Prometheus, opening June 8th.

Emma Watson Steps Out To ‘Struck By Lighting’ Premiere At Tribeca Film Festival

Emma Watson

Emma Watson caught the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Struck By Lightning this weekend. Her look for the evening mixed demure, almost dainty florals with a black leather jacket for a schoolgirl goes punk vibe.

Struck By Lightning marks the screenwriting debut for Glee‘s Chris Colfer, who also stars.  It looks back on a high school senior’s last few weeks of life, leading up to his death by – you guessed it – a bolt of lightning.   The cast also includes Christina Hendricks, Allison Janney and Sarah Hyland.

More views of Emma after the jump.

Wrapped in a white figure-hugging dress with plunging neckline, the ad was shot just two weeks after Cotillard, 36, had given birth to her son, Marcel.

The Oscar-winning actress fits right in with the other beautiful and talented actresses on the Dior payroll – Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman and the newest addition, Mila Kunis.

Katy Perry Smolders As She Channels Amy Winehouse For Interview Magazine

It’s a side of Katy Perry the public isn’t used to seeing.

Sultry and sexy, Perry is glammed up for the March issue of Interview magazine, giving the world a peek at her without her usual candy-colored hair and costuming.

The Teenage Dream singer looks strikingly like Amy Winehouse with her teased hair, big earrings and heavy eyeliner.

It wouldn’t be Katy without some sparkle and glitz though. The diamond encrusted push-up bra gives the photos that Perry touch.

Katy’s interview (done by Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig) will be online at Interview magazine‘s site on Thursday.

Oscars 2012: Who Took Home An Academy Award

The 84th Annual Academy Awards were held in Hollywood at the Kodak Theatre (or as host Billy Crystal quipped – the Chapter 11 Theater) on Sunday night and there were few surprises.

Crystal was his usual affable, likable self; the ratings were up slightly from last year but there were no really big wow moments to the 2012 Oscars.

The biggest winners of the night were Martin Scorsese‘s Hugo and Michel HazanaviciusThe Artist – each taking 5 wins, although The Artist won the biggest nods of Best Director, Best Feature and Best Leading Actor among it’s accolades.

The Help star Octavia Spencer had a very sweet moment at the podium when she was genuinely overcome with emotion as she accepted her Best Supporting Actress gold statue.

Chistopher Plummer and Meryl Streep were also very engaging during their thank you speeches and Jean Dujardin shared a moment with Uggie, the Jack Russell terrier of The Artist that has become a fan favorite.

Viola Davis and George Clooney were hot contenders for Best Actress and Actor categories, respectively, but both walked away empty handed.

Among the presenters for the evening: Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Cameron Diaz, Tina Fey, Michael Douglas, Bradley Cooper, Chris Rock, Melissa Leo, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph and Emma Stone.

Michelle Williams: Spirit Awards Winner

Michelle Williams holds her trophy from the 27th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California on Saturday (February 25th) night.

She wore a Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 navy and white shorts suit with buttoned up blouse. Williams also chose an embroidered Catcher In The Rye clutch from Olympia Le Tan.

The My Week With Marilyn actress won the Best Female Lead award; remembering her first appearance at this show years ago and thanking the “mistifts, outcasts, loners.”

“I wore my own clothes, which were not very good,” Williams said. “And I cut my own hair, which was not very good. But I still remember feeling that in this room, that was O.K., possibly even preferred.

“And what I thought then, and I still feel now, is that it’s because this is a room full of misfits, outcasts, loners, dreamers, mumblers, delinquents, dropouts – just like me. And I want to say thank you for supporting me, and welcoming me and making me feel at home in this room and in this community, all the way back then, and now, when the only thing that I own that I’m wearing is my dignity. Thank you very much.”

Williams is also nominated for an Oscar at tonight’s broadcast.
