Grammy winner Taylor Swift is putting down roots in “her favorite city in the world.”  She’s bought a swank penthouse in Nashville, Tennessee.

The singer’s new digs in the Adelicia development is huge:  just three bedrooms, but over 4,000 square feet.   She says she’s “excited” about her new place, which is described as “high-tech” in a complex that features “24-hour concierge service [and] tight security.”

Sounds like Taylor’s not letting awards and fancy pants houses go to her head, though.  She says:

“I love Target and Walmart — I find the coolest things there.”

She better love Walmart, considering they carry her clothing line!  Congrats on the new home, Taylor.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are starting to realize that their Beverly Hills dream mansion may not be a safe play area for their son Bronx.

“The house is built into the side of a giant hill and it doesn’t really have any yard. Now that Bronx is getting older they realized that really isn’t a child-friendly house.

“They are going to sell this house and look for something that will be better suited to young children.”

In case you were in the market for a previously owned Beverly Hills mansion this one sounds quite nice. The home is 5,896-square-feet, has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a media room, gourmet kitchen and of course a gym. There’s also a guest house in case the in-laws drop by!

The Wentz’s originally paid $4.5 million in 2007, but in this market, I’m sure you can get it for a steal.

One house is enough for most people, but Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are not most people.   They have purchased the house next door to their London home so they can build a humongous 33 room mansion.

A neighbor said:

“It will be a massive house. What they have already is a substantial family home, but to double and add a bit on will make it a real mansion.  Mind you, I wouldn’t want to have to pay the council tax on the new house – but I don’t suppose that will concern this particular couple.”

Probably not.  The two of them together are worth an estimated $74 million. Plenty to pay a team of staff to take care of their home, which will include:

a gym, changing room, and three bedrooms. There will be eight rooms on the lower ground floor, six on the next. The main floor will be divided into five areas and eight rooms are planned for the floor above that.

Justin Timberlake has reportedly purchased a serious piece of property in Greenwich, Connecticut!   The 13,000 square foot home features a pool, pool house and spa, and sits on 25.5 acres of land in “a private gated community…in the most exclusive part of Greenwich.”  The price?  A cool $18.7 million.

This?  Sounds like a place to settle down with a wife *cough*Jessica Biel*cough* and raise some kids.  I mean, I’m just saying.

Citing the credit crunch, Nicolas Cage has sold his German castle after making over $4M in renovations.

He had owned the vast property since 2006.

Cage bought the 11th-century Schloss Neidstein retreat for $2.3 million…partly because his mother, Joy Vogelsang, hails from Deutschland. The 9,688-square-foot citadel—sporting 28 rooms, including 10 bedrooms and five bathrooms—sits atop a hill overlooking more than 395 acres of pristine forest and meadows.

Sounds sweet, doesn’t it?  Who knew he even owned a castle in Germany?   Then again, if you’re a Coppola, why WOULDN’T you own a castle?  Or two, even?  Nic still owns Midford Castle in Bath, England.   He probably won’t even miss the German one then – supposedly he only ever spent one night there!

American Idol‘s Simon Cowell is building his dream home in Beverly Hills, and quite a posh crib it is!

The $21.8 million house features:

a state-of-the-art gym in the basement, a luxury spa complete with wet steam room, a lap pool and the solarium… a separate butler’s quarters containing a servants’ kitchen… a library next to a ‘gallery’ where Cowell plans to hang his gold and platinum records and awards… a custom-made media room with a marble bar area and plush leather seating for 20 in a private cinema… a pool cabana with a retractable roof, wet bar and changing rooms and… a putting green at the rear of the property.

I’m betting, though, that Simon’s favorite feature of his new abode is probably a “full-length tanning machine and a smaller ‘booster’ facial tanner.”  Gotta keep that sun-kissed look fresh!

Cowell has been working on the 11,550 sq ft mansion for two years.  His neighbors will include Tom Cruise, Madonna, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and the Beckhams.

Pete Doherty is so freaked out by the ghosts in his Wiltshire (England) home that he’s moving out.

“My house is definitely haunted. All of a sudden you hear a mad party going on in the west wing.

It used to be the servants quarters, which is creepy. When I hear it I just hide. It’s uncomfortable but I think if I don’t bother them, they won’t bother me. Half the time I’m in my own world anyway.”

One really has to wonder whether he is really hearing ghosts having parties, or the ghosts of his OWN past partying.

Haunted or not, Pete might be kicked out of his house anyway.� His landlord, the Earl of Cardigan, is planning to evict him after Pete’s “squalid living conditions were exposed.”

“Squalid” is such the perfect word to describe Petey.� He’s so incredibly nasty!

What’s up with that? Paris Hilton has been robbed!� Some idiot stole a bunch of her jewels!� It’s Christmas!� What is wrong with people???

PEOPLE Magazine has this on the story:

A man wearing a hooded sweatshirt broke into Paris Hilton’s home in Sherman Oaks, Calif., and reportedly made off with millions of dollars worth of jewels.

“At around 5 a.m. Friday, officers received a call from a security guard who reported that Paris Hilton’s residence had been broken into,” LAPD spokeswoman Julie Sohn tells PEOPLE.

“According to detectives, a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves forced entry through the front door, ransacked her bedroom, took unknown property and fled,” Sohn added.

An estimated $2 million in jewelry was stolen, according to the L.A. Times, citing unnamed detectives investigating the case.

An investigation is ongoing and Hilton was not at home at the time of robbery, Sohn said.

A rep for the heiress wasn’t immediately available for comment.

Paris, that really sucks and I am sorry that people are such morons!� I hope this doesn’t ruin your Christmas!

The now infamous three-bedroom unit at 419 Broome Street in New York has been listed since July – six months after its last tenant Heath Ledger died there of an accidental overdose – but so far it’s attracted no renters.

Certainly the deteriorating economy must have something to do with it – not sure who really can afford to rent a place for $26,000/month.� However, the New York Post speculates that perhaps the apartment is “just too spooky” to be rentable.

I dunno about that.� I am sure there are plenty of goth-girl Dark Knight fans who would love to rent that place specifically FOR the spook factor.� They just can’t cough up the cash to make it happen!

The primary residence of legendary singer Stevie Wonder has been destroyed in the wildfires still raging through Southern California.

The star was luckily not at home at his exclusive Porter Ranch, Los Angeles house at the time, as he was overseas.

A source close to the star said: �Everything was destroyed – all of Stevie�s memorabilia, photos, musical instruments, history, clothing, furniture, everything.

�It�s all gone. It was his main residence and he is utterly devastated.�

My thoughts are with Stevie and everyone who has been affected by these fires.� I lost my own home to a similar firestorm and know what it’s like to deal with this kind of disaster.
