Christina Applegate has revealed that she took hundreds of nude photos before her double mastectomy. She was recently on the Oprah Winfrey show to talk about her battle with cancer.

“I did my first and last nudie photoshoot at home. I made sure that I have close-up photographs of them from every angle, so I can kind of remember them.”

Christina is trying so hard to stay positive about the whole situation. Obviously, she’s being doing something right because she looks radiant. But, there are some downsides to the surgery..

“You’ve got scarring and there’s a lot of things you’re missing… and the shape is not the same and it doesn’t feel the same and it’s hard to carry your purse and there are so many limitations.

“It’s sad. I cry at least once a day about it because it’s hard to overlook it when you’re standing there in the mirror.”

I think her deciding to have a double mastectomy is so brave. I don’t know if I could do the same thing if I was faced with the same thing. What a great role model for others.

Christina Applegate was shining on the red carpet at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles. It was a night of happiness for Christina knowing that it was a victory that she made it there. She was nominated for Best Actress In A Comedy but she was thrilled that she could be there after her cancer diagnosis in August.

“One thing my mother always used to say when she was going through cancer, was she said cancer is a word, not a sentence, and being here and being in a dress and feeling good, it’s such a victory,” Applegate said. “You can get past this thing and all of those things that defines you as a woman. There’s so many other things that define you as a woman, so you know, I’m alive and I feel fantastic.”

What a strong woman to talk about what she has been through. She’s a survivor and we should always remember that. We all are so glad she is okay now.

On Monday we reported that Christina Applegate had revealed that she is “100% cancer free” following her treatment for breast cancer. Now the actress has revealed that her successful treatment was the result of a double mastectomy. From her appearance on Good Morning America:

“I just wanted to kind of get rid of this whole thing for me,” she said of the prophylactic double mastectomy. “This was the choice that I made and it was a tough one.

“My decision, after looking at all the treatment plans that were possibilities for me, the only one that seemed the most logical and the one that was going to work for me was to have a bilateral mastectomy,” she explained.

“I didn’t want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing and squishing and everything.”

Applegate will undergo reconstructive surgery over the next several months, and in this she finds a bright side:

“I’m going to have cute boobs ’til I’m 90, so there’s that,” she joked. “I’ll have the best boobs in the nursing home. I’ll be the envy of all the ladies around the bridge table.”

The star of Samantha Who? cited her mother, a repeat cancer survivor, as her inspiration and a source of strength.

“I’ve watched her have a mastectomy, and then I’ve watched her go through two years of chemotherapy and eight surgeries and a hysterectomy…I’ve watched this woman survive both those things. So, for me, there was always that sense that I was going to be OK, no matter what.”

I’m sure, though, that watching her mom go through all that was a factor in her decision to undergo such a radical and thorough treatment for her own cancer. Here’s wishing Christina the best as she continues to recover - and hoping that she picks a nice pair when she goes in for the reconstruction!

Just a couple of weeks ago, Christina Applegate revealed that she had received a breast cancer diagnosis - shocking news for a 36 year old woman.    Her doctors have apparently done very, very well, because today she announced that she is 100% cancer free.

“I’m clear,” Applegate [told] Good Morning America. “Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean. … They got everything out so I’m definitely not going to die from breast cancer.”

Wonderful news!  We are very happy for Christina and hope her good health continues.

Television actress Christina Applegate’s representative issued this statement today:

“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor-ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time.”

This is so sad and scary. She is the same age as me, 36 years old. I wish her all the best in her treatment and recovery! And ladies - three words for you: Self Breast Exam. Do it!!
