Colin Firth and Emily Blunt Join Identity Theft Comedy

Colin Firth and Emily Blunt are starring together in an upcoming comedy as identity thieves.

Oscar winner Colin Firth will star opposite Emily Blunt in an untitled dark comedy to be directed by commercials man Dante Ariola who will make his big screen debut with the project…

…It is set to roll in the fall this year and details the story of man who fakes his own death in an attempt to reinvent himself and meets a woman who is also in the process of trying to escape her old life. They both break into empty houses to seal the identities of the absent owners.

Sounds like a great story, I’m glad Firth is still taking roles like this after his Oscar win. Emily Blunt is always great dramatically and comedically. I’m betting the dynamics between these two could make for some comedy gold. The movie shoots this fall so expect it in theaters late summer/fall of 2012.

Anne Hathaway & Colin Firth At 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Academy Awards host Anne Hathaway and Oscar winner Colin Firth head inside to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party at the Sunset Tower in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 27th.

Reviews of Hathaway’s performance as host on the 83rd Annual Academy Awards have been mixed but most lean toward the favorable (unlike her co-host, James Franco, who is being panned for his efforts.)

Firth, who won the Best Actor trophy, gave a great acceptance speech for his part at the end of the night. The King’s Speech actor made light of being nervous and said:

“I’m afraid I have to warn you that I’m experiencing stirrings somewhere in the upper abdominals which are threatening to form themselves into dance moves,” he joked. “Joyous as they may be for me, it would be extremely problematic if they make it to my legs before I get offstage.”

Colin Firth Wanted for ‘My Fair Lady’

Colin Firth is likely to play Henry Higgins in the upcoming remake of the musical My Fair Lady.

The My Fair Lady movie musical that’s been rumored for years now is back in the news again, with Carey Mulligan once again up for the Eliza Doolittle role…

…Colin Firth is back in the running to play the Professor in the project in the works at Sony.

He was considered for the role before, but he wasn’t famous enough at the time for Sony execs. Now after his nominations and likely Oscar win he seems to be the prime candidate for the role. I can’t think of another actor that would fit this character more, I hope he takes the part.
