‘Ghostbusters 3′ Rumor Squasher, It’s Not Called ‘G3′!

Ghostbusters 3 Logo

There is a rumor floating around the stormy sea we call the internet that says that Ghostbusters 3 is going to be called G3. It’s a lie, don’t believe it!

The story is based on a quote taken out of context fromShowbiz 411 where they say the following: “Reitman says a script for “G3″ is being worked on now”The way they phrase it, it’s not entirely clear whether director Ivan Reitman called it G3 or whether they simply did in their story as a way of being hip with the abbreviations.

Even if Reitman did say it, that doesn’t mean that’s what they’re calling the movie. It’s just what he called it in the moment, the same way we’ve been known to call X-Men 3 by X3, even though that’s not the movie’s title. Odds are they’re calling the thing Ghostbusters 3 and there’s no reason to start a letter writing campaign. Just sit back and look forward to the ghost with three fingers raised on the poster.

In real news though, Reitman did reveal the script is in progress and indicated that they might start shooting in 2010. The Ghostbusters are out of development hell and on their way back to theaters.

The film is still a while off, but I’m really looking forward to seeing Bill Murray get back into that costume and kick some ghost butt while making cynical comments. I’m glad the film is on track!

‘Yogi Bear’ Movie is Coming with Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake

Anna FarisYogi Bear

There is a Yogi Bear live action/CGI movie coming with Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake in talks to star.

The film is being directed by Eric Brevig and produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt as a live-action/CG hybrid.

Faris will play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of a bear in fictional Jellystone Park. Aykroyd will voice Yogi, and Timberlake may voice Yogi’s companion, Boo Boo.

This sounds a lot like Alvin and the Chipmunks, and that was just terrible. I do love Anna Feris, she’s hilarious, but I don’t know if the is a good idea overall. We’ll have to wait and see.
