‘Slumdog’ Director Danny Boyle’s New Film is ‘127 Hours’

Danny Boyle Aron Ralston Book

Slumdog Millionare director Danny Boyle has officially taken on a new project called 127 Hours.

Fox Searchlight and Danny Boyle have firmed plans to make their next collaboration “127 Hours,” a film that tells the story of mountaineer Aron Ralston.

Boyle will direct the film, with production to begin next year for a late 2010 release. Pic is financed and distributed by Searchlight in partnership with Pathe.

Ralston’s right forearm got pinned for nearly five days under a boulder during a climb in Utah in May 2003. He used a dull knife to amputate the limb, then scaled a 65-foot sheer wall and hiked out before running into a family that gave him water and food. He was finally rescued by helicopter.

Anything Danny Boyle makes I will watch. He’s one of very few filmmakers that I would say that about, he’s consistently great. I’m sure he’ll bring this story to life in a great way. I’m still hoping he’ll be attached to direct the next Bond film in late 2010.

Looks like Freida Pinto may become the next Bond girl.

A source close to the set says, “Freida came to the attention of the Bond team when they were casting Quantum of Solace. She was too young at the time to have a part as a love interest for a secret agent.”

“But she has blossomed into an incredibly stunning young woman and would look perfect on Daniel Craig’s arm. “Danny Boyle is the favorite to take the helm of the next movie, which would increase Freida’s chances of a starring role.”

She’d be great as a Bond girl, great actress.

‘Slumdog’ Danny Boyle Directing the Next Bond?

sunshine_movie_image_danny_boyledanielcraig

Apparently Danny Boyle is being sought as the next Bond film director.

Producer Barbara Broccoli is said to be “leading the chase for his services”, helped along by producer Callum McDougall who worked with Boyle on 2000’s “The Beach”.

Despite being a British tabloid, and thus highly unreliable, the choice would be a fascinating one. Boyle’s work on “28 Days Later,” “The Beach” and “Sunshine” show his skill for action and pacing.

After the mixed response to Swiss helmer Marc Forster’s “Quantum of Solace” last year which made 007 feel “a bit too American and Bourne-like for many tastes” according to the paper, the hope is he can bring “a bit of wit back to 007″ while still keeping the more character-based serious tone of the Daniel Craig-led films.

I highly doubt he’ll take the job, although I would be happy if he did.

Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionare’ Wins DGA Award, Next Stop, Oscars

sumdog

Slumdog Millionare continued its growing snowball of awards with the DGA (Directors Guild of America) award for best picture going to Danny Boyle.

Danny Boyles film just received the top honor from the Directors Guild Of America Saturday night. It beat outThe Curious Case of Benjamin Button, TheDarkKnight, Frost/Nixon, and Milk for the award, making the road to the Oscar seem a lot less difficult.

DGA winners always do well at the Academy Awards, mainly because the voting pool is made up of a lot of the same members.

The chances of Danny Boyle winning the Oscar for best director is ever more likely.

‘Slumdog Millionare’ Big Golden Globe Winner

Danny Boyle’s newest film Slumdog Millionare was the big feature film winner at last night’s Golden Globe Awards taking home four awards. It won best screenplay, best original score, best director and best motion picture drama.

“Is this really happening to me? My first film wins fourGolden Globes? I just can’t believe it,” co-starFreida Pinto gushed to reporters backstage as she stood among her collaborators, includingDanny Boyle, who won the best-director prize.

Now the question is, what will it win at the oscars? This movie had most of the same competition as it probably will at the Academy Awards. What do you think?
