Rourke and Rockwell New ‘Iron Man 2′ Villains

Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell may be villains in Iron Man 2 directed by Jon Favreau. The film has already locked in Robert Downey Jr.Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle.

Marvel has been keeping a very tight lid on the script for the sequel, being written by Justin Theroux, but it is known that Rourke would play a tattooed Russian heavy named Ivan who becomes Whiplash, a man with deadly, technologically enhanced coils.

Rockwell would play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and a rival of industrialist Anthony Stark, AKA Iron Man, being played by a returning Robert Downey Jr.

Great actors, I hope they both take the roles. It’s sure to be one of the hottest movies of 2010.

Jon Favreau, who is set to helm the second “Iron Man” pic, will also exec produce “The Avengers,” which is skedded for release on July 15, 2011. Pic will unite the Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Incredible Hulk characters.

At least now we know he won’t be replaced suddenly like Terrence Howard was for the sequels.

‘Iron Man 2′ War Machine Concept Art

Check out this overlooked concept art for what War Machine might look like in Iron Man 2.

A while back, Yahoo posted a boat load of concept art from Jon Favreau’sIron Man. Hidden in the piles of artwork is Phil Saunders concept art of War Machine. Forgive me if you’ve already seen this, but my initial google search shows that not many people noticed.

Don Cheadle will play the part of War Machine in the film, but it’s not definite that the suit will look like any of these 3 concepts.

Cheadle Replacing Howard in ‘Iron Man 2′

War Machine is not going to be played by Terrence Howard as anticipated in Iron Man 2, instead he will be played by the amazing Don Cheadle

Don Cheadle is stepping in to replace Terrence Howard in “Iron Man 2,” Marvel Studios’ sequel to its summer blockbuster.

In the movie, Howard played Jim Rhodes, Tony Stark/Iron Man’s best friend and future armor-clad hero War Machine. One scene featured Howard looking at a silver suit of armor and saying “Next time,” a line that caused great delight for fans.

But there will be no next time for Howard.

It’s not a downgrade, Cheadle is a really great actor, I look forward to seeing him in the film.

Don Cheadle Considering Leaving The U.S.

Actor Don Cheadle is concerned enough about the future of the United States that he is considering leaving if the November elections don’t go the way he’d like.

“I mean it depends on this next election whether I’m going to stay in this country,” he said at a junket for his new movie Traitor. “I’m pretty serious about being pretty concerned. I wish I could say for sure I knew what was going to happen. But I think we’re in a mess right now and I don’t know why anyone would want to be President right now to begin with. If you are going to take that on, you’ve got a lot of stuff to untangle. To me right now, we’re in bizarre-o land with all of it.”

He would not be the first Hollywood type to live abroad by choice – Madonna, Brangelina, and hey – Scarlett Johansson is excited to embrace her new homeland after her marriage to Canadian Ryan Reynolds. However, Don should probably expect some people to be pissed off that he said such a thing. Folks got mad at Johnny Depp last year when he said he was “frightened” to raise his daughter in the U.S. Such as silly thing for folks to get bent out of shape about, IMO. But as for Don, I hope he keeps making great movies no matter where he decides to live. (And oh, by the way? Must be nice to be in a position to just decide what country you’d like to live in!)
