Dr. Who’s Matt Smith & Karen Gillan Hang Out In Hollywood

Karen Gillan and Matt Smith

Is there a doctor in the house?  There certainly was at the Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Tuesday.  The dynamic duo of Matt Smith (The Doctor) and Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) were on site to celebrate the release of Doctor Who Series 6 on DVD and Blu-Ray.

(I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:  I love these two.  And I love the show.  Could I even be a bigger nerd?  Don’t answer that.)

Where do you think they parked the TARDIS?

More photos of Matt and Karen follow.

Check Out Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint In ‘Wild Target’ (Video)

What’s a guy to do after spending the last 10 years co-starring in the Harry Potter franchise?  If you’re Daniel Radcliffe, you head for Broadway.  If you’re Rupert Grint, however, evidently you go on to star in movies that go straight to video.  Ouch.   Rupert’s latest project, Wild Target, was just released this week on DVD.  Emily Blunt and Bill Nighy also star in the badly-panned film, in which Rup plays an apprentice to Nighy’s hit man character.  Is it really so bad a film?  Check out the clip after the jump and see what you think.   I’m thinking it’s got to at least be better than Rupert’s 2002 bomb, Thunderpants. Blu-ray is the new standard, DVD is on its way out and every week they are releasing many films on the relatively new format. Here’s the full list of Blu-ray movies out this week on November 10th, 2009.

Up is certainly the highlight this week, but it’s a really great week for PIXAR on Blu-ray with the simultaneous releases of Monsters Inc. and Cars: Ultimate Cars Giftset. It’ll be great to see these films again in true high definition.

’30 Days of Night’ Sequel, Full Cast List

30daysofnight2-darkdays

There is a direct to DVD sequel of the horror film 30 Days of Night coming and the full cast has been announced. 30 Days of Night: Dark Days will star Rhys Coiro (Entourage), Harold Perrineau (Lost), Kiele Sanchez (A Perfect Getaway), Diora Baird (Texas Chiansaw Massacre: The Beginning), Mia Kirshner (The Black Dahlia) and Monique Ganderton.

Bloody Disgusting just got the exclusive drop on the first official casting for the Ben Ketai directed 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, Columbia Pictures and Ghost House Pictures’ direct-to-video sequel to the Steve Niles adaptation from 2007. Filming officially kicked off TODAY and beyond the break Bloody Disgusting has your official cast.

I didn’t think much of the first film, it never really reached a level of freaky-ness that it should have. I can’t imagine the direct-to-DVD sequel could possibly be better, so I’m not thrilled.

First ‘Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy’ Teaser Trailer, Plus Details

nsa

Here’s the teaser trailer for the upcoming documentary Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy.

According to STYD, the doc will attempt to live up to its title with two-discs and over four hours of bonus material. In fact, Langenkamp has produced and directed a doc of her own, not so quizzically entitled I Am Nancy, that will be included. Cool side note: the production company in charge of Never Sleep Again is called 1428 Films, a hat tip to the address of the iconic house where Nancy set boobie-traps and lured Fred Krueger to his first of many unsuccessful demises.

The actual house has become a landmark and tourist attraction of sorts in Los Angeles, California, located at 1428 North Genesee Avenue.

I’m not a big enough fan of these movies to want to watch hours of documentary coverage, but many of you are and this is for you.
