Drew Barrymore’s ‘Whip It!’ Trailer Starring Ellen Page

whip-it

Here’s the trailer for the new Drew Barrymore directed film Whip It! starring Ellen Page (Juno).

I’m curious to see it more because of Drew Barrymore being the director than because of the actual story. I really like Ellen Page too, so I’m just hoping it’s not too cheesy.

First Look at Drew Barrymore’s ‘Whip It’

Here’s the very first image released for Drew Barrymore‘s directorial debut, Whip It.

The film stars Ellen Page (Juno) as Bliss, a rebellious Texas teen who throws in her small town beauty pageant crown for the rowdy world of roller derby. Marcia Gay Harden plays Bliss’ disapproving mother, while Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live”) and Juliette Lewis play roller-derby stars. Eve, Jimmy Fallon and Daniel Stern also star.

Sounds like it will be funny, great cast! I’m surprised Drew Barrymore took this long to direct a movie, considering her long history in this business.

Did Ellen Page Come Out On Last Night’s SNL?

Ellen Page addressed the lesbian rumors that have been swirling around her by doing a lesbian sketch. (See it above.)

In her lesbian sketch, Page returned home to her boyfriend jumping about for joy after going gay at a Melissa Etheridge concert.

It was awesome, I felt like I was an oil lamp that had never been lit – now Im finally burning bright with sister fire, Page said. There were so many cute short haircuts and I didnt care that I didnt have any make up on. I felt so free.

Her boyfriend in the sketch, comic Andy Samberg, said: Youve so gone gay.

Rolling on the floor and holding her legs, Page replied: Gay, no way! But I dont really know what you mean by that though. Why does everything have to have a label?

Why cant I just hug a woman with my legs in friendship?!

So is that a confirmation or not? I’m confused.
