Karl Lagerfeld Designed Diet Coke Bottles

Karl Lagerfeld can’t help but put his signature stamp on everything.

The famous designer of Chanel, photographer and artist turned his stylish eye to the Diet Coke bottle and he redefines the image.

Part of the 2011 ‘Love it Light’ campaign, the three new bottles are black and white with fuschia pink accents – none of the red and silver that we are familiar with. Lagerfeld has done a successful redesign limited edition last year as well (see that here.)

“I love this bottle but it’s time for a new one. Actually I want to do three bottles,” he said about the first time in 2010.

“I loved what we did last year but I will love 2011 even more. I’m delighted about this collaboration,” Lagerfeld continued.

“It’s exciting for me because I love the idea and as everybody knows, I drink Diet Coke and nothing else, night and day. It was pure pleasure to do a campaign with people I like and for a product I love.”

The designer has said he lost over 90 pounds in 2001 by drinking only Diet Coke and eating steamed vegetables.

The Diet Coke Limited Edition Collection by Karl Lagerfeld will be available individually or set in an exclusive prism-shaped collector’s box, also created by Lagerfeld. starting in June.

Giada De Laurentiis Gets Royal Food Duty For William & Kate’s US Visit

She struggled to keep it a secret but today she could finally tell. Giada De Laurentiis revealed she is the lucky chef chosen to cook for Prince William and Kate Middleton at a charity event they will attend on their 3 day US visit in July from the 8th through the 10th.

“I had no idea the Royal Couple would be attending,” De Laurentiis, 40, told Today.com. “And when I finally found out it was actually kind of a bummer,” she said. “I couldn’t tell anyone – I had to keep it hush-hush until their California itinerary was released!”

The Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club will host 2,500 guests on July 9th, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge where a fundraiser polo tournament will be held, with William participating in the action on the field.

For the menu, De Laurentiis is planning on showcasing her strength: California cuisine with an Italian flare.

A “light and colorful” pea pesto crostini, featuring pureed peas on toast, topped with half a cherry tomato.

California chopped salad with a mix of grilled lettuces, grilled corn, grilled shrimp, zucchini & crispy tortillas in a light lemon dressing.

Chicken Milanese, which features breaded chicken cutlets in a creamy tomato fennel sauce.

Gwyneth Fatigue! Paltrow Covers Bon Appetit Magazine

The endless parade of Gwyneth Paltrow media is reaching it’s limits (please?!) and the actress/author/singer/lifestyle blogger has landed the June cover of Bon Appetit magazine (and the editor is taking some major heat for putting a celeb on the cover!)

The 38 year-old, who authored the cookbook My Father’s Daughter, filled with family stories and recipes, has dedicated it to her father, the late Bruce Paltrow, who she says inspired her love of cooking.

She shares with the magazine how she approaches cooking.

“It’s how I think as a cook,” Paltrow says. “I wouldn’t say I’m a very original thinker, but if I have a good experience with something, I’ll want to take it further or adapt it in some way. I’m not going to be doing molecular gastronomy; I’m a wife and a mom and a home cook.”

The Country Strong star squashes rumors about her own cooking magazine.

“Don’t know how that rumor got into the papers,” she says. “It could not be further from the truth. I literally do not have time to bathe let alone start a magazine.”

All right, I officially call a Gwyneth moratorium – at least for a couple of months.

Giada De Laurentiis At The Flower Market

Food Network star and chef hottie Giada De Laurentiis was spotted in Santa Monica at a flower market picking up some pretty posies while a film crew documented her every move for an upcoming cooking show segment.

De Laurentiis, 40, looked effortlessly beautiful as always, while the cameras rolled as she choose a couple of bouquets.

The Giada at Home host was on the February cover of Redbook and told the magazine why she believes food can create a strong bond between people.

“There’s nothing like a home-cooked meal – nothing!” the chef and cookbook author says. “When people ask me what the best restaurant in L.A. is, I say, ‘Uh, my house.’ It’s more intimate. Food can connect people in a forever sort of way.”

Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution: L.A. Public School District Isn’t Having It

After taking on Huntington, West Virginia last year, British celebrity chef and healthy eating advocate Jamie Oliver tried to bring his vision to the Los Angeles United School District and was soundly rejected.

Season 2 of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution showed that public school officials, resistance is anything but futile – they will go down kicking and screaming as far as adopting healthier choices for kids’ meals are concerned.

The chef was turned away by the School Board and barred from filming in any school or asking the children about their lunches and food options on school grounds. He turned to Ryan Seacrest (who also produces Jamie’s show) to enlist parents and advocates to get the Board to change it’s mind.

“In my whole career I’ve never been blocked from an institution. Now I need the parents to support me to help me get into those schools,” Oliver told Seacrest’s radio show audience.

Chef Bobby Flay Cooks Up A New ‘Restaurant’ With NBC

Food Network host and Chef Bobby Flay

Food Network host and Chef Bobby Flay is on board NBC’s newest reality venture: America’s Next Great Restaurant. The show features ambitious contestants who are vying for a chance to open a chain of eateries in the US. Flay will be one of the five panelists who will judge, mentor and ultimately invest in the winners concept.

Originally the series was titled United Plates of America. Hopefully the show (and the winning restaurant) won’t be so bland, like the new blah, boring show name.

Gym Class Heroes Create New Denny’s Menu Item

The Gym Class Heroes are a fun bunch – they’re exactly the type to cause some kind of ruckus at an after-the-club diner spot, so it’s only fitting that Denny’s restaurant chain has asked them to create a menu item for their Rock Star Menu (previously including items created by Katy Perry and Fall Out Boy) to hit drunk diners nationwide later this Spring.

The name of the item hasn’t been released (because we’re so desperately awaiting), but the item has been described as Texas toast, eggs, 2 strips of bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, hashbrowns, grilled bell peppers, roasted tomatoes and a special ranchero sauce. I feel fat just reading that!
