Clooney and Gosling on First ‘Ides of March’ Poster

Here’s the first poster for the upcoming film Ides of March Starring Ryan Gosling and George Clooney.

An idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail. Based on the play by Beau Willimon.

I really hadn’t heard much about this film until now nor have I seen the play, but this definitely looks intriguing. It’s a stellar cast, and George Clooney has proven himself a good director in the past. I’ll be keeping my eyes on this one.

George Clooney & Elisabetta Canalis Have Split

George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis have ended their two-year relationship.

The pair released a joint statement to Entertainment Tonight confirming the split.

“We are not together any more. It’s very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy.”

The Italian model recently told Chi magazine she’s was looking forward to a future that included a wedding but was quick to clarify that she was content with her present relationship.

“I am a firm believer in marriage, in the future I will be married, but for the time being I am happy as I am,” she said. ““I am very happy at the moment – thanks to my man and my fairytale is continuing. We are a couple that never gets bored.”

Clooney, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday with Canalis by his side, is in London filming Gravity with Sandra Bullock. Canalis, 32, is currently in Milan at the fashion shows, most recently DSquared.

Ladies, he means it when he says (repeatedly!) he’s not marrying again.

George Clooney in ‘The Descendants’ Trailer

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming movie The Descendants starring George Clooney.

This movie looks like it’s going to be good, not at all what I expected. In fact the first part of the trailer wasn’t exactly pulling me in, but by the end I was all about it. Looks like a film with great performances, an interesting script and a lot of heart. Then again, that might just be how it looks, only time will tell.

George Clooney For President? Well, Maybe Not…

He has been asked in the past if he would run for political office and George Clooney has always said no. Now, the actor is elaborating on his stance for Newsweek:

“I didn’t live my life in the right way for politics, you know. I f–ked too many chicks and did too many drugs, and that’s the truth.”

Although he isn’t going to run for office, Clooney understands his movie star wattage brings attention to problems that are often overlooked and he’s serious about his involvement; it’s not just for show. He says:

“I walk an uneasy line trying to bring focus to what they do, because there’s a lot of self-congratulatory crap that makes you sick to your stomach.”

Clooney has loads of detractors and tons of admirers but public office doesn’t sound like his game plan. Influencing public policy is another matter.

George Clooney Is God’s Gift To Women (Well, Duh!)

Many women are pretty certain hottie George Clooney was created by The Good Lord him(her?)self, but an art studio in Cincinnati has decided to make it so.    Studio Vertu has installed a mural portraying George Clooney as Adam from the ‘Creation Of Adam” section of Michaelangelo’s Sistene Chapel painting.

George is currently in the Cincinnati area working on  his new movie, The Ides Of March, and it was rumored that he might film part of it at the city’s Memorial Hall.  Studio Vertu, located just down the street from the venue, created and installed the mural as a way to get Clooney’s attention.  Creator Mark Schmidt said:

“This is our homage to George Clooney… We decided to have a little fun with it, roll out the red carpet in our own way.”

The image of Adam/George very discreetly stops at the waist.  Schmidt said:

“Well, I didn’t want to compliment him, or insult him.”

God’s gift indeed.

George Clooney Says No (Again) To Marriage

Marriage is not something George Clooney is interested in for himself.

Clooney appeared on Piers Morgan’s new show on CNN with his father, journalist Nick Clooney on Friday evening and had host and Dad nudging him along.

Morgan turned to the eldest Clooney and asked if he was “yearning for the moment” George takes the plunge. Nick said to his son:

“I want you to think about that. I want you to think about — we’ve been married — Nina [George's mother] and I’ve been married 51 years.”

George wasn’t having any of it:

“I hate to blow your whole news story,” said the younger Clooney, “but I was married, so I gave it a shot.”

Clooney’s one and only marriage attempt to actress Talia Balsam ended in 1993 after four years together.

He is currently dating Italian model and actress Elisabetta Canalis and has no plans to marry, in case you were wondering.

Malaria Stricken George Clooney Has Recovered Completely

Twice bitten and stricken George Clooney has recovered from malaria again after a recent bout with the disease.

The 49 year-old actor is a frequent visitor to Africa and the Sudan as part of Not On Our Watch and the Enough Project – organizations dedicated to ending the genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The actor told CNN’s Piers Morgan about contracting the potentially deadly illness through a mosquito bite. Clooney said through his rep:

“This was his second bout with it. This illustrates how with proper medication, the most lethal condition in Africa, can be reduced to a bad ten days instead of a death sentence.”

The rep also said that Clooney is “completely over” the infection.

Morgan will have Clooney as a guest on Friday January 21st where they will discuss his recent trip to Africa.

Who Will Be The Lone Ranger To Johnny Depp’s Tonto?

The movie version of The Lone Ranger has been languishing for years in Hollywood. Even with Johnny Depp attached to star as Tonto, the film seemed destined to die in development purgatory.

Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski has jumped on board and the project is picking up steam. Depp has casting advice for the title role:

“There’s so many interesting possibilities out there,” he tells ET. “Brad [Pitt] would be great. [George] Clooney would be great. Don’t know who it’s going to be just yet.”

The TV show and Hollywood in general haven’t been kind to Native Americans in film and Depp, who has Cherokee heritage, says this movie will take the opportunity to correct that wrong:

“Native Americans in cinema, over the past however many decades, have been treated somewhat shabbily,” he says to put it mildly. “This one has plans to rectify that.”

Johnny riding shotgun to Clooney or Pitt is totally made of win!
