Grey’s Anatomy‘s Patrick Dempsey made an appearance at the world premiere of “Iris:  A Journey Into The World Of Cinema” by Cirque Du Soleil.

This show promises to “take spectators on a fantastic voyage through the history of cinema…into the heart of the movie-making process.”  Something about Hollywood stars going to see a show about their own industry sounds like a lot of self-serving navel-gazing, but this production boasts some relatively serious credentials.   “Iris” was written and directed by celebrated French stage and film director Philippe Decouflé; Danny Elfman composed the music. Season 8 of Grey‘s premiered last week, but Patrick has been casting doubts about whether he’s got a future with the show after this current season; in fact, recently he’s suggested that the show may be cancelled before the season is even through.  That’s just silly; this show has been one of ABC’s staples for years now, and there’s no way they’re going to let it end without some huge finale that strains the limits of believability.  Either way, McDreamy fans – get it while you can!

Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane entered rehab for addiction to painkillers last month, his publicist said.

The 38 year-old actor’s troubles surfaced Wednesday and he has almost completed his 30 days in treatment, the actor’s battle with the prescription drugs started when he received them for an injury.

His spokesperson said “[Eric] voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus.

“He reports back to work next week. Business as usual.”

Dane and his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart are expecting their second child.

Holy guacamole!  Grey’s Anatomy‘s Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres) is Latina‘s super sexy cover girl for March 2011.  Sara shows off her awesome curves in a black bra and underwear, and is nearly busting out of the grey (get it?  grey???) sweater that elegantly tops off the ensemble.

Dr. Torres says she likes going against the grain:

“I’ve never been very cookie cutter. If I choose something different from the status quo, it’s my responsibility and my choice to live my life that way.”

Are people tired of whiny, emotionally retarded Meredith Grey? Grey’s Anatomy‘s Ellen Pompeo thinks so, and wants to put Meredith out of her misery. She has suggested pretty strongly that while she’s not ready to leave the show yet, she’s not going to be around forever, either. Ellen said:

“I haven’t said I’m moving on. I said that when my contract is up after Season 8 [in two years], I would probably not renew. I think the world has had a lot of Meredith Grey.”

Huh. So without Meredith Grey, there’s really no point to the show. But two more seasons? I think by the time Season 8 is up, we’re all going to be begging Shonda Rhimes to stop making the show.

Grey’s Anatomy star, Leven Rambin is engaged to her boyfriend Geoff Clark.  Leven is really excited and is sharing the news with everyone reports L&S,

“Leven was super happy to tell her friends of her recent engagement.  She was saying she was so excited and that she JUST got engaged.”

Patrick Dempsey spent a gorgeous Labor Day out for a bike ride in Malibu.   McDreamy looks different when he’s not in scrubs, doesn’t he?  Different in a good way, of course.  Small wonder he was named the hottest TV hunk of all time last year!

The surgeons of Seattle Grace are getting ready for a new season of humping and bumping saving people’s lives with their amazing medical knowledge and skills.   Who will actually be back in any given season of Grey’s Anatomy is nearly always an open question, but these new cast photos give us a pretty good idea.

Included are:  Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Sara Ramirez, Chyler Leigh, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, Jessica Capshaw, Kevin McKidd, Patrick Dempsey, Eric Dane, and James Pickens, Jr.

The season premiere is Thursday, September 24th at 9:00 pm.  I might or might not watch this season.  I’ve been really disappointed with the show the last couple of years, which has made me sad, because it used to be my favorite show.  We’ll see how it shapes up… if Izzie is dead, maybe it’ll be worth it.

T.R. Knight spills to Entertainment Weekly on why he decided to scrap the role of Dr. George O’Malley on Grey’s Anatomy.

And it doesn’t put executive producer Shonda Rhimes in a very good light.  Apparently she did not agree with his decision to publicly come out following the whole Isaiah Washington gay slur incident.

This led to a “breakdown of communication” between him and Shonda.   So at the beginning of season 5, when we hardly saw George at all, “the star came to the conclusion that his character had ‘expired’” and

chose not to ask his boss what was going on with his character. Instead, he simply asked to leave. “My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about George],” he explains. “And with respect, I’m going to leave it at that.”

So – SPOILER ALERT!! – George going to be killed off.  Knight says he is “at peace” with his choice to leave the show.

“There just comes a time when it’s so clear that moving on is the best decision.”

Knight is headed to Broadway to appear in a revival of Lend Me A Tenor, opening early next year.  On to bigger nad better things!!

Wow.  Well, the wow isn’t for T.R. Knight exiting Grey’s Anatomy permanently, it’s for the fact that he’s going to Broadway.  I certainly didn’t see that one coming.  I figured he would find another hit TV show to heat up.  I guess we’ll have to go to New York to see him in action now.

ABC’s Shonda Rhimes had until the end of this month to make a decision on T.R.’s fate, but he didn’t have the patience and asked to leave now.

“He’s had enough of Shonda and ABC,” says the source. “He decided to take back his power.”

Good for him.  I wouldn’t put up with the crap either!  Best of luck to you, T.R.!  we look forward to seeing you on Broadway in Lend Me A Tenor!
