Johnny Depp Is A Creepy Vampire In ‘Dark Shadows’

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are teaming up again to for this year’s upcoming Dark Shadows.  The movie is an adaptation of the 1960s TV show of the same name, and focuses on the vampire Barnabas Collins.  He was cursed by a witch and turned into a vampire.  When he escapes his tomb 200 years later, in 1972, he finds his hometown very changed, and his descendants dysfunctional.

You really get a sense of Depp’s character from these recently released stills.   It’s a different type of role for Depp – proving that he can pretty much do anything – and yet it also seems familiar, reminiscent of both Willy Wonka (Charlie & The Chocolate Factory) and The Mad Hatter (Alice In Wonderland)… both also Burton films, by the way.  Oh, and speaking of Burton films, you know who else is in this movie:  Helena Bonham Carter, of course.

Helena Bonham Carter: New Face Of Marc Jacobs

He’s known for unusual choices in models and his quirky ads but Marc Jacobs has outdone himself.

The designer has picked Helena Bonham Carter for his latest muse, celebrity endorsement deal and face of his new advertising campaign. She will star in his new Fall/Winter 2011 – 2012 ads shot by photographer Juergen Teller.

Teller’s photo of Carter in a pink mermaid-like gown with black pillbox hat above, illustrates the perfect pairing this is.

This isn’t the first time the 45 year-old actress has worn Jacobs. Although she often chooses Vivienne Westwood, she opted for a black and white lace dress from Jacobs for the 2011 SAG Awards and looked fabulous (see those photos here.)

Bonham Carter is a brilliant choice for the line because her individuality and sometimes rather odd style picks line up perfectly with Jacob’s sense of aesthetic.

Often criticized for her style (not me, I love her unique take on the stuffy events!) she managed to land on Vanity Fair’s 2010 best dressed list for “exquisite self-expression”.

Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton attended the 83rd Annual Academy Awards at The Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 27th.

The always fabulous Helena chose a black velvet bustier with shoulder cut out details and a bustle on the back of her gown for the 2011 Oscars. Love it!

Carter was nominated for Best Supporting Actress but lost to Melissa Leo of The Fighter.

Burton’s film, Alice In Wonderland was up for three awards.

Helena Bonham Carter At 2011 BAFTA Awards

Helena Bonham Carter takes the trophy home from the 2011 BAFTA Awards at The Royal Opera House in London on Sunday, February 13th.

The King’s Speech actress won for Best Supporting Actress in the film and her costar, Colin Firth took the Best Actor award,

Bonham Carter, who everyone loves to critique her fashion choices, played it a bit safer than she usually does. The actress wore a long black gown with a black bolero jacket. I think she looked lovely, but I already miss her kooky red carpet looks. At least she takes a chance! I’m hoping for Oscar squirreliness from her.

Helena Bonham Carter 2011 SAG Awards

The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday January 30th with Helena Bonham Carter hitting the red carpet for the 2011 SAG ceremony.

Bonham Carter chose a black and white Marc Jacobs Resort lace dress for the event (she does love her lace!) and this look was much more subdued than she has worn in the past. I love her off beat fashion choices – she has a unique sense of style and she makes the red carpets interesting.

Helena Bonham Carter At 2011 Golden Globe Awards

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place in Beverly Hills, California at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday January 16th.

Helena Bonham Carter attended in support of her film The King’s Speech, which was nominated for Best Film and Colin Firth got a Best Actor nod – which he won.

The ever quirky Carter wore a Vivienne Westwood floral print dress with black lace accents and mismatched shoes. Say what you want about her taste but I love that she is who she is and isn’t afraid to do wear what she wants.

Helena Bonham Carter, Colin Firth – What’s So Funny? – Photos

Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush were all laughs at the BFI London Film Festival: ‘The King’s Speech’ UK film premiere held at the Odeon Leicester Square in London.  It looks like this was the place to be for the good times.  Colin Firth was “attacking” Geoffrey Rush and Helena was in stitches.  Hilarious!

Helena Bonham Carter Recycles Half An Outfit But Looks Good Doing It

I love these kinds of snaps of the celebs.  It’s like the blooper reel at the end of a movie.

Check out Claire Danes.  She’s got a look!  I think she and Helena were coordinating on their dresses.  Cute.
