Live Action ‘Justice League’ Movie Gets 2015 Release Date

 Justice League

DC Comics fans will be happy to hear this news!  Warner Bros. has a green light to begin development of a live action movie featuring the DC Comics team of superheroes known as the Justice League.   After winning a critical legal battle with the heirs of the creator of Superman, Jack Shuster, the studio is expected to begin filming a Justice League movie next year for release in July 2015.

Along with Superman, the Justice League includes The Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash and other superheroes.  They were featured in the well-received Cartoon Network animated series Justice League, which aired from 2001-2004.

Warner Bros. might feel it has some catching up to do.  While it’s been duking it out in court for the last eight years, Marvel Studios has churned out a steady stream of movies featuring its comic book heroes (including Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Avengers).

There’s reportedly a Justice League script in the works, so all it needs is a director and a cast.  They may already have two roles filled:  Henry Cavill plays Superman in the upcoming Man Of Steel, and Ryan Reynolds played Green Lantern (rather unsuccessfully) last year.  However, The Dark Knight‘s Christopher Nolan has already turned down the directing job, and Christian Bale has said that The Dark Knight Rises was his final turn as The Batman.   Who else would you like to see involved with this film?  What actors do you think would do these characters, well… justice?  Drop a comment and tell us!

First Look: Henry Cavil as Superman ‘Man of Steel’ (Images)

Here’s the first official image of Henry Cavill as your new Superman in Man of Steel. And here are some more images from the set showing off the details of the costume.

Its certainly a much more stylized version of Superman than we’ve ever seen, but it makes perfect sense considering the director Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300, Sucker Punch). While I like the visuals in all those movies, I wasn’t impressed with any of those movies story lines. I’m hoping Man of Steel breaks the trend and has a great story.

New ‘Superman’ Star Henry Cavill Gets Engaged

You’d think being anointed the new Superman would be plenty for one guy to handle, but Henry Cavill wants more.

The 28 year-old actor has proposed to his girlfriend, British athlete Ellen Whitaker.

While taking a Hollywood trip together, Cavill popped the question to the unsuspecting Whitaker, who said yes.

“I couldn’t believe it when he asked me to marry him,” she told the Belfast Telegraph. “I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.”

The Tudors actor did the gentlemanly thing and called her father, Stephen, to ask for his permission.

Whitaker is currently training, hoping to have a place on the British 2012 Olympic showjumping team.

Cavill has landed the coveted part of Superman in Zack Snyder’s 2012 movie titled Man Of Steel.

New ‘Superman’ Henry Cavill Says He Was First Cast in 2003!

Henry Cavill was announced as the new Superman: Man of Steel on Sunday, but this wasn’t the first time he was cast for this role! He was originally cast to play Superman back in ’03 for director McG!

Cavill has spoken openly about being cast in prior incarnations of Superman on several occasions, but for obvious reasons, it took until now for the discussions to become pertinent.

One such admission came in an interview with MTV:

I was attached to the McG ‘Superman’ movie. Then Bryan Singer came on and took the helm and he made his movie. [The McG and Singer versions] were two different movies. So it wasn’t so much of a sting because it was like, ‘Oh, I got [the role],’ and then the movie just didn’t happen.

So he’s been waiting a long while to play this role! Patience really pays off in this case I guess, he’s gotta be thrilled that this one is actually going to happen!

Meet Your New ‘Superman: Man of Steel’ Henry Cavill!

The New Man of Steel has been cast! British actor Henry Cavill will play Superman in director Zack Snyder‘s reboot, Superman: Man of Steel.

Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have found their new Man of Steel…

… Warner Bros clearly has chosen a more macho leading man for Superman than the previous Brandon Routh or even Christopher Reeve. “He’s got an amazing quality. He doesn’t look too much like Reeve and Routh but he’s big and strong and he has a very modern feel to him,” a Warner Bros exec just told us. “We’re really going to try and make Superman as contemporary as possible.” And just like it did with Christian Bale in the Batman reboot, the studio has gone with a British actor. In fact, Cavill also auditioned for the Batman role but lost out to Bale in 2005. He also was a contender for James Bond but was deemed too young and lost out to Daniel Craig.

Great choice in terms of his look, hopefully his acting abilities are equally fitting for the role. The movie is being produced by Christopher Nolan so I’m expecting it to be a huge step up from previous versions of Superman. What do you think? Good choice?
