When runaway bride Crystal Harris left her ex-fiance Hugh Hefner at the altar this summer, he was kind enough to let her keep her engagement ring.    Crystal tried – unsuccessfully – to sell the $90,000 rock shortly after their split, but her payday has finally arrived:  she sold the ring at auction this week.  The sale price?  $38,000.

While Crystal made significantly less than the ring was worth, she got more than expected.  Christie’s valued the 6.47 carat diamond ring between $60,000-$80,000 but anticipated that it would sell at less than $30,000.

Poor Hugh could have just given her the cash in the first place and been done with it!

So what does a runaway bride do on the day that was supposed to be her wedding day?  If you’re Crystal Harris, instead of marrying Hugh Hefner, you party at Wet Republic.  I guess.

Playboy Cover With Crystal Harris Gets A ‘Runaway Bride’ Sticker From Hugh Hefner

Despite criticism from some of her Playboy sisters (Holly Madison called Crystal’s play day in Sin City “disgusting” and “tacky”), Crystal was unapologetic about her actions.

“I’m doing okay.  I just had to get away. Today is the day and I just had to get away. I’m going back tonight so I just wanted to get away for the day.”

I don’t believe it for a second.  If you really just needed to get away, why would you pick a place that is crawling with paparazzi?  And then pose for pictures for said paparazzi?   I think it was a deliberate play to continue generating as much publicity as possible.  Me?  Cynical?  Naaahhhh…..

Meanwhile, Crystal spoke about her ex-fiance as though he were rather an aged relative whom she’d placed in an old folks’ home:

“I love (Hefner). He is the sweetest person I’ve ever met in my entire life and I’ll always love him and he’ll always be a dear friend and I’ll always visit him all the time.”

First visit:  Crystal supposedly stopped by the Playboy Mansion on Monday to return her engagement ring to the Hef.   Poor Hef!    His tweets about being dumped are so sad, and he seems to be trying not to be a jerk.   He has nothing to worry about though – I’m sure there are plenty of other girls just waiting in line to get their hands on his money Hefner’s big heart.

Now that Hugh Hefner is staying a bachelor, an untimely cover of Playboy magazine needs his attention.

Hef planned for his almost-bride, Crystal Harris, to be on the July cover of the mens magazine, its release would coincide with their wedding that was supposed to happen this Saturday, June 18th at the Playboy mansion.

As you probably know by now, that ceremony isn’t happening, as Crystal decided she’s not walking down the aisle with Hugh, however the cover is already done and on it’s way to newsstands – announcing:

“America’s Princess – Introducing the new Mrs. Crystal Hefner”

Err…

Not one to let a mere wedding crash and burn get the best of him, the Hef has a solution – a red “Runaway Bride” sticker for the now-erroneous (and ironic) cover.

The 84 year-old tweeted the cover:

“Recent events call for a special sticker on the July cover. Look for it on newsstands,” he said.

So what do you think. Is Hugh making lemonade out of lemons? Or is it a sad attempt to save face?

Just a few days before they were to marry, Crystal Harris has called off her wedding to Hugh Hefner.

Hef tweeted the news:

“The wedding is off.  Crystal has had a change of heart.”

A message posted on Crystal’s website confirmed her decision.

“After much deep reflection and thought I have decided to end my engagement with Hef.  I have the utmost respect for Hef and wish him the best going forward. I hope the media will give each of us the privacy we deserve during this time.”

I’m surprised, but I’m not surprised.  I am sure that she got very cold feet when it hit her that she was about to marry a guy who is SIXTY years older than her.  However, I honestly thought she probably in this for the money.  Not to be crass, but Hef is 84 years old.  Crystal would probably be a very rich widow before too long.  Hmmmm.

TMZ speculates that the split was over money (she wasn’t getting enough of it now, apparently) and her desire to have a singing career.  However, rumors remain rampant that the “deep reflection and thought” on Crystal’s part is inspired by Jordan McGraw, son of Dr. Phil McGraw.

Harris’ manager Michael Blakey gave a pretty canned response when asked for a comment.

“The split was a mutual decision and the two remain good friends.”

(Did he not read his client’s own statement that said it was her decision?  Anyway.)

Crystal and Hef would have been married Saturday night at the Playboy Mansion.  It would have been Hefner’s third marriage and Crystal’s first.

Hugh Hefner must be getting excited about his upcoming wedding to Crystal Harris.  And although the idea of Hugh getting excited about anything kind of grosses me out, I find it rather adorable that he Tweeted a picture of their wedding invitation today.

The photo, in which the couple’s custom postage stamp (with a photo of them, naturally) is clearly visible, was accompanied by the caption:

Friends and family are already receiving our wedding invitation

Hugh and Crystal have been engaged since December 2010 and will be married at the Playboy Mansion on June 18th. As their wedding is an evening affair (6:00 pm), they are requesting semi-formal attire.   He is 60 years older than her.  I assume her long-term plan here is to be his widow, because I can’t think of any other reason she’d be doing this.

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris just got engaged in December, but is there already trouble in paradise?   Crystal was recently spotted at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles receiving the ardent attentions of another man.   Jordan McGraw (son of none other than Dr. Phil McGraw) spent the evening “kissing [Crystal's] shoulder and trying to hold her hand.”

A Playboy spokesperson pooh-poohed the rumors, characterizing the connection between these two as a “business relationship.” Guess it depends on what kind of business you’re conducting.  I mean, I would call my relationship with my insurance agent a “business relationship,” but I’ve never tried to kiss her or hold her hand.   If I were Jordan though, I’d back off – I have a feeling that we wouldn’t like the Hef if he got angry.

The Playboy mansion had some engagement news for the holiday.

Hugh Hefner popped the question to his girlfriend Crystal Harris on Christmas eve. Hefner, 84, and Harris, 24, have been dating since Harris moved into the mansion in 2009.

Hefner tweeted: “This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory. Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring,” the mogul wrote. “I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all.”

This will be Hefner’s third marriage and the first for Harris.

Congratulations to the happy couple.

Pamela Anderson (who is working on her MUSIC career now) and Hugh Hefner joined Benedikt Taschen to celebrate the release of the six-volume illustrated autobiography ‘Hugh Hefner’s Playboy‘ at TASCHEN in Beverly Hills last night (December 10).  Pamela Anderson did everyone a favor and turned herself ‘on’ for the big event.  We have grown accustomed to seeing the new Pamela Anderson, the train wreck.  Thankfully, we saw more of the old Pammy show up to the party, with a few extra lumps and love handles.  But, hey… I think she looked great compared to this or THIS!

Hugh Hefner is working with producer Bryan Grazer and screenwriter Diablo Cody on a new movie called, you guessed it, Playboy.

(Hefner’s Tweet) Meeting with Diablo COdy to talk about the Brian Grazer Playboy film today.

This should be an interesting story once it all comes together, it’s hard to say from such a short tweet what is really going on, but I’ll keep you posted.
